The House at 33 Apocalypse Ave, Evening

Logan had decided to set up his laptop at the island in the kitchen, making some headway in getting together a final idea of his syllabus. There were brownies in the oven and it was turning out to be a very bright house, both from the sunlight earlier and how nicely the room was lit now, in the evening.

There also may have been a For Rent sign outside still. He might regret forgetting that.

Darth Vader came sweeping up to the front of the house after his meeting with Rory.

He rapped sharply at the door, stormtroopers holding suitcases hovering behind him.

Logan almost jumped at the sound, glancing back at the door in surprise. He wasn't expecting anyone and he was fairly sure someone would have warned him if they'd put out an invitation. Standing, he went to answer it.

"Hi, can I help you?"

"You have a room for rent," Vader said, pointing at the sign. "I require it."

This was his idea of small talk.

Looking past Vader at the sign, Logan made a mental note to not forget those kinds of things in the future. Returning his attention to the man in all black, only slightly less disturbed than he might have been as he was simultaneously reminded of both The Tick and V, he smiled, trying for cheerful. "It's not the biggest room, but it's at the top of the stairs and still fairly comfortable. Everything other than the room itself is shared living space though."

"It will be sufficient," Vader replied, waving his hand imperiously heh at the Stormtroopers. They went racing up the stairs with Vader's belongings.

The faster they set the rest of his stuff up, the happier they'd be. Putting a galaxy between them and Darth Vader sounded like the best idea ever.

"I am Darth Vader," he said. "I teach Ethics."

Logan moved aside as the Stormtroopers ran in, looking somewhat bemused as he turned back. "Nice to meet you. I'm Logan Cale, teaching Communications this semester."

Realizing he was being rude to a new tenant, he held the door open a bit wider, moving further into the house. "Sorry, please, come on in. Or did you have some other business first?"

"My business for the day has been concluded," Vader stated as he swept into the room.

He paused. "There were skeletons working in the office today."

Logan suppressed the urge to wince - something about the guy's voice made you feel as though you'd somehow failed him miserably. "Then it won't be any more of a surprise to hear you're living with a big blue man in a Tick outfit and a man named V in the basement with kind of similar tastes to yours," he said, closing the door carefully and following Vader into the living room. "Tick's in the garage. There's three others on the second floor with you, and a dodo."

"A dodo?" Vader repeated.

"Dodo," Logan confirmed, nodding and lifting his hands to illustrate. "Medium-sized flightless bird, went extinct in the 1700s?" He smiled slightly. "She's Thursday's pet. Thursday's got one of the bedrooms, her son Friday's in the second, and John Winchester has the master bedroom."

Vader stood there listening.

And breathing.

It was incredibly creepy.

"Very well," he said.

The Stormtroopers came bolting down the stairs in a badly-coordinated clatter of armor. "Your room is prepared, Lord Vader," the bravest of them said.

"Took long enough," Vader snarled. "Very well. Return to the shuttle. Tell the Emperor I'll be in contact shortly."

The Stormtroopers bowed low and then skittered off.

"Can't get good help these days," Vader muttered.

Logan exhaled slowly, watching his new tenant a little warily. "Right. So, Darth Vader - do you prefer Mister, just 'Darth', or something else?"

"Darth Vader," Vader said. "Or Lord Vader."

The guy really knew how to let his hair down. If he still had any. Which he didn't.

John came home and slowed as he came inside and saw Logan talking to a large.... black... being.

"Problem?" he asked Logan casually.

"Not at all," Logan said, only about halfway reasuringly. "This is Darth - or Lord - Vader. He's taking the other bedroom on the second floor." He smiled at Vader, gesturing at John. "Darth Vader, this is John Winchester, one of the housemates I mentioned."

Vader nodded his head, but didn't saying anything.

Unless you counted the completely audible breathing.

John regarded him for a long moment. "Christo," he said.

"No," Vader said. "Darth Vader."

"Just checking," John muttered. Not a demon then, but not exactly a happy fluffy person either. "So where are you from, Vader?"

"Darth Vader," Vader corrected. "And I'm from very far away."

"Right." This wasn't turning out to be a very informative conversation. "And you're in Fandom to...?"

"Teach," Vader said. "Ethics."

"Huh." John raised an eyebrow. "An interesting subject."

Vader nodded. "Are you an instructor as well?"

John nodded. "Yeah. I'm teaching Paranormal Studies. Hunting."

"A useful subject in this town, from what I have gathered."

"Yeah, it never hurts to be prepared to deal with whatever nasty surprises come along."

If Vader were the type of person to laugh sarcastically, he would be doing so now.

"You can never be too prepared," he gritted out instead. "Underestimating your enemies can be fatal."

"It can," John agreed easily. "That's a lesson I certainly hope to teach."

V appeared as if from nowhere, stepping out of a shadow. "Good evening. The principal is a lovely woman," he said to the assembled group.

If Vader could convey any sort of surprise, he would have been doing so.

He nodded instead.

V inclined his head. "I wasn't aware we had company."

"I live here now," Vader informed him.

If V could have shown surprise, he would have. Instead he simply said, "Oh. We seem to be developing a rather full household. Is it simply you, sir, or have you a pet canary or several small children as well?"

There was an awkward pause.

"I was not aware that such things might be necessary."

"Hardly," V replied. "But there is a dodo and a small boy here, somewhere. Where will you be living?"

"In my meditation chamber," Vader said. "Top of the stairs."

"I have the basement," V said, inclining his head downwards. "I don't suppose you have a name?"

"I am Darth Vader. Or Lord Vader."

"A pleasure, Lord Vader," V replied respectfully. "You may call me V."

"V," Vader replied. "Are you an instructor as well?"

He nodded. "Criminal Justice. And you?"

"Ethics," Vader replied. "It should be...educational."

"For you, or for your students?" he inquired, sounding amused.

Vader mulled this over. "Yes," he finally decided.

"Good answer," V said quietly, sounding on the verge of laughter.

"Criminal Justice," Vader said. "Didn't someone else used to teach that course?"

"The blue man who lives in the garage, yes," V said. "From what I understand, he has taken an administrative position and can no longer instruct."

Vader nodded. "Interesting," he said.
