Lana was in, only a little hangover after her night at Caritas. She straightened things up and waited for any customers who might happen to come in.

Lana waited for Lavender to stop by at the end of her shift.

Willow came in with a hopeful expression on her face. "Hello!"

Lana smiled at her. "Hi, Willow. What can I do for you?"

"I realize I may be aiming high in my expectations," Willow said, "but I don't suppose there's any books here that are going to be thrown away? I'm trying to collect books for libraries in need and have sadly already been shot down by the librarian."

Lana hesitated. "I honestly don't know," she said, a look of concern crossing her face. "I haven't heard from Mr. Giles in, well... a couple of months so I don't know if there's stuff he wants to get rid of. You could always try leaving him a voicemail."

She thought for a moment. "I have a few books that I don't want to keep. I thought I'd wait till I got home and bring them to a used bookstore, but I'd be glad to give them to you instead, if you'd like."

"Oo, that would be perfect!" Willow said. "I am a begger, see me display next to no choosiness. You can drop them off my room next time I do a room post if you want. Or by the stables ditto if it's this weekend."

"Stables?" Lana said, perking up a little. "There are stables here now? Really?"

Willow nodded. "On the first floor. I guess we got enough students with horses? Currently Peter's in there. He may be new to being a weetiny horsey, but he still has a sense of responsibility."

Lana looked wistful. "My horse is one of the few things I really miss from home."

She looked concerned. "Peter is a horse?"

Clink clink

El stepped into the book store. "Excuse me, do you carry any teaching aids?"

Lana smiled at him. "We carry quite a few different books like that. Was there something in particular you were looking for?"

"Er... Dance and elementry Spanish for English speakers."

"Oh! Are you...? I mean, hi, I'm Lana Lang and I'm hoping I got into your dance class for this semester. I think it would be really amazing!"

She caught herself gushing and blushed, thinking she must be coming across a little crazy. "Sorry, let me just show you were those would be." She led the way to the instructional section and pointed out some of the guides.

El nodded and flipped through them. "I don't suppose you have any of these in Spanish? It's easier for me to read."

"In Spanish..." Lana thought for a moment then led the way to a nearby area. "There are some here. I'm not sure if they're what you need. However, I can always special order them for you if you want."

El took a few, flipped through them, and tucked them under his arm. "These will do for now, I think. Although I may special order a few books at a later date."

"Oh, of course. Any time." She rang up his purchases for him and handed them back.

"Hey, good to see you!" Lana smiled at Lavender. "Let me just finish closing up here and we can go off exploring. Anything in particular you'd like to see first?"

"I'm famished so if there's some where we could grab a bite that'd be great. Maybe we can go a round-about way and you can point out the good places to shop?" Lavender adjusted her purple hand bag on her shoudler.

"So uh- what's it like to work in a book store?" Lavender's tone may suggest that she doesn't understand why anyone would voluntarily read books.

"Sure. We could stop at the Perk or the pizza place if you want," Lana offered. And I'd be glad to point out good places to shop."

She smiled at Lavender's question. "It's great. You're surrounded by books and it's usually fairly quiet - which is really nice during exam times. I can study and do homework whenever there aren't customers."

"My mum sent me some money. I don't have much muggle clothing. We wore robes at Hogwarts. Hee American pizza sounds good but what's the Perk?"

Lavender doesn't understand the appeal of being surrounded by books. She'd much rahter be surrounded by boys. "I spose it's more funt than the library."

"The Perk's a coffe shop, but they have a food menu as well. It's a nice place. Or we could have chinese or something if you'd rather."

Lana grinned. "I like libraries as well," she admitted. "But everything in moderation, you know."

Lavender is relieved. "Moderation is defintely a good thing."

"I think I'll try pizza for today. Unless you've got strong preference for something else."

Lavender dug in her bag and pulled out a lip gloss tin with a dancing ballerina on the tin. The balelrina was moving. She absently midnedly applied the lipgloss.
