The duck pond, Saturday night
River lay on her back next to the pond and watched the sky getting darker. An airplane crossed the sky, its lights brighter than the stars. Sometimes, now being ones of those times, she really missed the black, emptiness of space. It scared Simon, but for her it was strangely comforting and fascinating at the same time.
"Quack?"
River turned her face and stared into the beak of a duck.
"Now you're prepared to talk?" River glared it it. "I've been trying to communicate with you and your friends for week and you've been really rude. What do you want now?"
The duck shifted nervously from one webbed foot to another. "Quack?"
"Get lost."
River stubbornly stared up into the sky again.

still being playeddouple date through the park, Pippi was skipping through the grass with her shoes in her hand.On the whole she was happy, but she happened to catch sight of a certain tree (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/830064.html) from that weekend (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=strongestgirl&keyword=Evil%21Plotty&filter=all). Deciding not to let that spoil the fun, she pushed the memory away.

They had both been busy doing other things lately. Besides, there was no one better at getting her out od strange moods than Pippi.

But there were two of them trying to hold her. She pushed her elbows backwards, hard, aiming for their faces.

Well, sort of. The training hadn't included someone quite like River as a combatant, but Nadia could improvise.
She grabbed a large sized stick, holding it like a bo staff, and swung it quickly for River's head, careful to avoid hitting Pip or Peter, hoping to knock the other girl out and finish the whole thing.
