Park - Monday Late Afternoon - Cross Species Communications Outing

Thankfully there's a break in the light showers of the morning and the forcast for the rest of the day is "Mostly Cloudy".

Mary is sitting on a bench near the Duck Pond waiting for her students to gather, while at her feet a "small yappy type dog" is frolicking in the wet grass and... well... Yapping.

Once her students are gathered Mary Stands up and addresses them as the (small yappy-type) dog jumps up onto the bench and listens attentively.

"Good afternoon all, I trust you had a good weekend and also managed to look at your vocabulary in the packet about Canis lupus familiaris. Dogs are proverbial man's proverbial best friend. They have lived with us for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of years."

"Dogs come in a huge array of sizes, body types, coloration, and temperment due in no small part to Canis lupus' association with Humans as companions both in the home and the workplace. However, from the smallest Tea Cup Poodle to the largest Irish Wolf Hound, from the mangiest Pariah to the most refined Whippet, there are certain characteristics in communication that all dogs share."

"While there may be regional and breed quirks, 'accents' if you will, you should be able to get your point across to any earthly breed..." Mary says pointedly in Walter's direction. "...and be able to understand them in return."

She motions to the dog on the bench.

"This is Andrew. He is a Scottish Terrier raised in England. He is a friend of mine and will be happy to chat with you that you might practice your vocabulary. In addition, if he is able, we may also be joined by Diefenbaker and his human companion, our own Constable Fraser. I'm certain I don't have to remind you to be polite with our guests."

Especially the one that was part wolf. It even smelled like the Captain.

Lavender is taking detailed notes and chewing on her bottom lip. This is very different than Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts.

Door is indeed taking notes. Dogs in the Underside are few and far between, since it's not an easy environment for them to survive in on their own, which would make the ones that are kept as pets or protection all the more valuable an acquaintance to cultivate.

Jesse was out with Skeeter to get some exercise, but apparently there was a class going on. He would have left them in peace, but Skeeter ran over to investigate the other canines he smelled there.

"Skeeter! Get back here."
