Sparky Repairs, Monday

Hikaru tottered into work. The twins had spent the majority of last night laughing at the letters from the girls back home, so he hadn't exactly gotten enough sleep.
Not expecting any customers as usual, he slept on the counter while some fitting background music played.

Emo and goth were waltzing around the room. Apparently they had downloaded the steps from somewhere online.

Sparky's is open!

Sometime early in the day, before having to tell Yuuko the bad news about the shipments from China, Sakurazaki wandered into the shop, sachel slung around her shoulder. She looked around as if to confirm that she had the right place, and, when her eyes drifted to the counter, she blinked.

"Hik--" She stopped, realizing there was only one of them, and that she wasn't quite sure which one it was. She looked around the shop again, this time for the other twin, but not seeing him.

Huh.

Sakurazaki blinked a few more times at him before sighing heavily. She leaned over the counter and gave a firm poke on his shoulder. "Oi!" she said. "Wake up."

Sakurazaki settled back on the other side of the counter, arms crossing over her chest. "Falling asleep at work? How very profession of you, ..." Her lips parted as if to put a name there, but she stopped herself. Dammit, couldn't they wear name tags? The conspicuous part of her mind was trying to concieve of how to figure out which one this was, just merely because it drove her nuts not knowing who she was adressing.

"Mm, well," Sakurazaki nodded and opened her sachel, pulling out her cell phone, holding it up. "My phone got all waterlogged when I was in China; I was hoping to drop it off to be looked at, see if it was salvagable, or if I should just write home about getting a new one." She set the phone on the counter, looked at his expectantly.

"Uh, no. I was a little...caught up with other things at the moment..." Sakurazaki frowned, leaning forward on the counter as she watched what he was doing. She had a worried frown on her face. How was she going to explain this to Elder Konoe without having him know that she was in China?

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
The frown deepened. "I don't know. I'm really not very...knowledgable of things like this. I personally hate using the damn thing, but I need it for business. Just a regular cell phone, I guess..."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" A brief moment of excitement broke through her concern. "Oh, that would be great! So much easier than having to explain why I need a replacement..."

Sakurazaki gave him a sharp look. "Don't give me that condition bullshit, Hitachiin." There was a particularly biting air to it now that she'd pulled up something to address him with. She was just wondering why she didn't think of it sooner. "This is a regular business, offering a regular service, in which regular money is exchanged for said service."

But damn her curiousity. She lifted her chin. "What's your condition?"

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki closed her eyes, settling herself down. This was ridiculous. "I just said your name. Hitachiin."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You didn't specify that at the beginning of this agreement."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I can't," she admitted crossly. "And I don't see how you can actually expect me to. The one time either of you have exhibited any sign of individuality was that one time when I'd forgotten one of your names. You can't honestly expect someone to even begin to distinguish one from the other when you're both so set on maintaining this sense of duality. As if I can honestly make an educated guess based on one single incident."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I have something else I have to do tonight," Sakurazaki glared at him. "I don't have time to play your little games, Hikaru, Kaoru, whichever the fuck you are. Do you even know half the time?" She snatched up her phone, gripping it tightly in her hand. "I'll just take blow and request a new one. After all that's happened to me lately, what's the worse that can happen?"

She turned sharply and started for the door. Silly girl, left the chip.

Sakurazaki paused, turning skeptically when he started talking, but her expression softened, very slightly, as she listened. She lifted her chin, her voice still a little terse, eyes still a little hard.

"You'll drop it off for me?"

She wasn't about to turn down something that could potentially go well for her right now.

She grunted, unconsciously mimicking him by crossing her arms over her chest as well. "Barely a safe place to put a phone," she said, rolling her eyes, but, with a fleeting softening as she considered how the rest of her day was going to pan out, she added quietly, "I might not mind a disruption..."

Sakurazaki nodded, turning to exit. When she made it to the door, though, she paused, the door half open, the bell already chiming at the movement. "Arigato," she said, turning back with a nod of her head, "Hikaru."

With that, she ducked out and hurried down the street toward Hitsuzen. She didn't want to stick around to see if her complete stab in the dark was right. But Hikaru came into her mind first, and she'd never seen Kaoru snap like that and she had seen Hikaru do it, so it just seemed the safest choice.
