Aereopagitica, 26 September

Giles ambled down to the store, opened up on time, and was sat at the counter for exactly three minutes before he took his Matthew Paris photocopies, his Latin dictionaries, and other various references and set up a card table outside, and started working on the translation.

[OOC: Wait for OCD, please... Open for business!]

[OOC2: Now in the right place, even. *facepalm*]

Janice had several freshly-delivered crateloads of new artifacts back at the house, ready for cataloguing, and a mandate from Mel to "get down to that bookstore and find me some useful references" still ringing in her ears.

In an effort to get rid of said ringing, she made her way down to Aereopagitica, stepped through the doorway -- and promptly went into what she would never admit (probably because the phrase wasn't one she knew) was a speechless fit of sheer geek joy.

"Probably carrying things home when I'm done here," Janice said, still staring, and now sporting a grin of the variety usually described in vulgar terms as well. She hadn't yet budged from her spot.

Yeah, this'd get Mel off her back for weeks, at least.

Oh, right. "What have you got in the way of reference books on translating classical languages?"

"Ancient Greek, Linear A and B if you've got them, hell, I could use some dictionaries and grammar guides for Hebrew and Sanskrit too."

The look on Janice's face was actually a mild variation on the maniacal expression she'd be wearing if she stepped into a tomb filled with gold. That, in itself, was scary enough.

[OOC: Argh, sorry -- work ate my head for a while there. And then LJ ate my comment.]

Walter came in on his way down to Cafe Fina to open for lunch. He looked around with that obviously lost expression of someone who doesn't know where to start.

"Yes, thank you," Walter said as he turned to address Giles. "Do you have any information on people being drawn into mirrors? It happened to my best friend yesterday and I'd like to get her out."

[ooc: Sorry about that unexpected delay.]

Walter leaned over to have a look at the book and shrugged. "We noticed that it was reflecting something that wasn't in the room. She hung it on the wall and leaned on it and fell right through."

"Ohhhh." Evie wandered in happily, and was immediately ensnared by several shelves of Arabic poetry. "Oooo. Rumai. Yes. And Al-Rashid, yay. And oooo, perhaps some Burton, but I don't know, perhaps the Rumai wouldn't like it...."

You could be excused for thinking she was asking the books' opinion on the question.

After painfully limiting herself to three books for fun, Evie finally surface about half an hour later, and looked around, wondering if there was someone she could ask a question of. In looking around, she didn't look where she was going, and tripped over the edge of the carpet, knocking into a plantstand, a bookcase, and a wall before hitting the floor. "Ow! Bother."

"Oh! Thank you. Hullo. Are you Mr. Giles?" Evie rearranged her books, and bounced on her heels. "Lana and Rory both mentioned your store, and of course I recognized the name of it and thought it quite clever, and I was hoping-- do you have any books on the Island? Or any primers for Greek? And I love your shop!" One book slid out from under her arm as she was talking, and Evie made a grab for it, barely missing. "Drat."

River opened the door and entered. "You're back!" She said, a wide grin on her face.

Having gone for a walk in the town she had caught sight of Giles through the window.

"Good. They were bad, but now they're good again. How are you?"

Out of respect she tried not to read his mind if there were things he didn't want to tell her.
