Aereopagitica, 26 September
Giles ambled down to the store, opened up on time, and was sat at the counter for exactly three minutes before he took his Matthew Paris photocopies, his Latin dictionaries, and other various references and set up a card table outside, and started working on the translation.
[OOC: Wait for OCD, please... Open for business!]
[OOC2: Now in the right place, even. *facepalm*]

Morning...
The general dispersion of the monastic libraries which took place not long afterwards, and the destruction of considerable protions of them, have been often and loudly lamented, but by no one more than by John Bale, who himself witnessed the spoilation... . "Let one noble man bring fourth one noble author, and an other emprinte an other, to the conservacion of Englandes antiquitites. In lyke case lete one ryche merchante brynge one worthye worke of an auncyent writer to lyght, and an other put fourth an other... .
Giles may also be muttering something about bloodly great obese bullies...
Re: Morning...
In an effort to get rid of said ringing, she made her way down to Aereopagitica, stepped through the doorway -- and promptly went into what she would never admit (probably because the phrase wasn't one she knew) was a speechless fit of sheer geek joy.
Re: Morning...
"Yes? Is there something I can help you with?"
Re: Morning...
Yeah, this'd get Mel off her back for weeks, at least.
Oh, right. "What have you got in the way of reference books on translating classical languages?"
Re: Morning...
"Certainly. Which languages would you be interested in?"
Re: Morning...
The look on Janice's face was actually a mild variation on the maniacal expression she'd be wearing if she stepped into a tomb filled with gold. That, in itself, was scary enough.
[OOC: Argh, sorry -- work ate my head for a while there. And then LJ ate my comment.]

Lunchtime
Interea, mortuo rege Eduuardo, Haroldus sibi regnum, ut injurias cumularet amplores, usurpavit, diadema sibi sine ecclesiastica auctoritate imponendo; unde papam Alexandrum et omnes Angliae praelatos sibi creavit inimicos.
He's still muttering under his breath, "In the meantime, with the death of King Edward, Harold himself usurped the kingship..."

"Yes, can I help you find something?"
Re: Lunchtime
[ooc: Sorry about that unexpected delay.]
Re: Lunchtime
Giles went upstairs briefly and came back down with a plain brown leather bound book. The title was "Mirror Magic," by Lilith de Tempescire.
"This might help. How did she get sucked in?"

Afternoon
Rex Willelmus regis Scotorum homagium cepit.
"In his dreams King William recieved the homage of the king of the Scots..."
Re: Afternoon
You could be excused for thinking she was asking the books' opinion on the question.

Early Evening
Tandem amicorum intermeantium solertia diligentissima, qui ipsis dixerunt, "Absit, ne Franci franernas acies, alternaque regna profanis decertata odiis, derideant subsannantes," elaboratum est, ut in talem concordiam convenierent, anno tamen illo fere elapso: resignatis castris et quiete clamatis, quae rex cerat et dux obsederat, iterato redderentur ipsi regi, idemque rex efficaciter juvaert fraterno affectu ipsum ducem ad omnia quae pater ejus habuerat, pareter Angliam, conquirenda.
And of course, more muttering commentary.
"Yes, Robert, and if you believe that, there's going to be a bridge built in about 800 years that William would like to talk to you about..."
Re: Early Evening
Having gone for a walk in the town she had caught sight of Giles through the window.
Re: Early Evening
"River! Yes, I'm back. It's so good to see you. How are things?"
Re: Early Evening
Out of respect she tried not to read his mind if there were things he didn't want to tell her.
