Lana came in to find the store not quite the way she'd left it on Monday and hoped that that meant the rumors she'd heard about Mr. Giles returning were true. She got things ready and opened the store then sat down to write him a welcome home note.

This is Jim pretending that he's actually looking for a book. Yes, book-learning is he. Uh huh. Not lurking about the shelves staring at the girl behind the counter. Nuh uh. Not at all.

Lana was taking care of some things when she felt someone watching her. She looked and saw a very familar face. "Jim!" she said happily.

"Hey," he laughed, sauntering over to her. "Morning."

She glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then stretched up to give him a kiss.

Jim smiled triumphantly as he leaned down and kissed her back. Now it was a good morning.

Lana grinned up at him. "So, what brings you here this fine morning?"

"Oh, you know," Jim replied with elaborate casualness. "Books."

"Oh," Lana said nodding her head. "Books. Yes. What can I help you find here?"

"I'm not sure. What would you suggest that would mean you had to spend as much time as possible helping me?"

Lana beamed. "Oh, I don't know. I'm sure I could think of something. Perhaps out of sight of the door and windows?"

Jim grinned at her, spreading a hand. "Lead on."

Lana led him to a back area of the store and wrapped her arms around him. "So, why are you really here?" she asked teasingly.

Jim didn't really think that he needed to answer that. He just wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.

Clark came into the store for his paper, a little later than usual.

Lana came hurrying out from the stacks in the back of the store. She looked a little disheveled and, all right, pretty thoroughly kissed.

"Clark!" she said. "Hi. Um... sorry, I was just... shelving some books."

Clark may not have been in a position to make a girl look like that often, but he'd seen the look when he was the waterboy in high school.

"I see." he said, barely holding in a smirk.

At just that point, Jim (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1108729.html?thread=48511993#t48511993) walked out of the stacks, waved and left the building. Lana blushed furiously.

"Um... was there something I could help you with?" she asked, looking as if she wished she could disappear through the floor.

"Well, I came for the news, uh, I mean newspaper."

"Oh sure, yes, right there." Lana gestured nervously to the newspapers. "Not that you don't know where they are, of course."

She ran a hand through her hair again, hoping it wasn't too disheveled.

Clark couldn't help but smile now. "So, who was that?" he asked.

Lana wouldn't have thought it was possible to blush more than she had been, but obviously it was. "Um... that was Jim. My boyfriend."

Clark decided not to tease Lana anymore. Much. "It's good to see you so happy." he said.

She got a faraway look in her eye and smiled despite her embarrassment. "Thank you. It's nice to be this happy."

Ooop, and now Clark's back to thinking about Lois again. Damn. His smile may have turned a bit bittersweet. "Is, is he uhm, a student?"

Lana's too much a combination of blushy and dreamy to notice much outside herself right at the moment. "Yes," she says. "Just started here this fall. He's really just, well... an incredible guy."
