Wine, Wenches 'n Song [4-6pm FDT]

Barbossa was dancing around the studio to "Me Hips Be Not Lyin'" before it was time for the broadcast to begin.

The members of Teal Dear who had assembled were probably traumatized. "Pirate" and that particular definition of "booty shakin'" should not be acquainted.

After the song was over, Barbossa flipped the microphone on. "It be Thursday, which be makin' the program Wine, Wenches 'n Song, 'n me Barbossa." He spun around in his chair. "Today I be havin' special guests in the studio--they be members o' the Fandom-grown band Teal Dear. Who be not actual deer, in case ye be wonderin'. They be playin' their first concert o'er at Caritas on Saturday 'n be here t' make sure that it be more than the zombie band watchin' them do it. Please be givin' them a hearty welcome."

He pressed a button on the console and the sound of applause came out of the speaker.

"So I be here t' take yer requests, the band be here if ye be wantin' t' chat wit' them, and the squirrels be in the studio t' get the band's autographs. It be quite the busy day here at Pirate Radio. The phone lines be open. Bother us!"

He'd missed last week and had to make up for it, so Wilson called in with his request.

"Yes? I'd like to request 'It's Raining Men' by The Weather Girls, dedicated to Aziraphale, please?"

Wilson laughed as he was immediately assaulted with the vision of all the male residents of Fandom getting picked up and then rained back down on the island.

No one got hurt in this little vision but...it just seemed a Fandom sort of thing to have happen.

"I will take responsibility for such an act if it occurs. I also promise to save you from any stray flaming swords which might try to hit the building."

After listening to yet another radio dedication (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1111542.html?thread=48556022#t48556022) that mentioned his name, Aziraphale facepalmed and then picked up the phone.

"I do suppose eventually one of will win this, but in the meantime...would you play Teen Angel by Donovan and dedicate it to Dr James Wilson?"

"Er...I don't think the the Donovan version (http://www.mp3lyrics.org/d/donovan/teen-angel/printerfriendly.html) is about death at all."

Was it? Oh no. Now Aziraphale was fretting, thinking maybe Wilson would think that he was trying to dedicate a song about people dying. "Do you think I should pick something else?"

That was all right, Aziraphale was very willing to take Barbossa's word for it. He was the music expert, after all.

"Quite. Well then....I'd like that song, please. Although next time, I'll try and pick one that isn't titled the same as a song about...dying a horrible and tragic death."

Kind of put a damper on the spirit of their little competition.

Wilson nearly choked on the tea he was enjoying when he heard Aziraphale's dedication (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1111542.html?thread=48560374#t48560374).

Dear Lord they were getting evil, particularly given the *cough* memories that song stirred in him.

Hmmm...so the angel wanted to play at that level eh? Okay, Wilson could do this.

Calling back in to the pirate, Wilson asked in his sweetest tone.

"Hello again, ah...if it's not too much trouble, would you play 'Sugar Walls' by Sheena Easton, dedicated to Aziraphale...please?"

"Hey, Barbossa. It's Parker."

Parker grinned. "Thanks for having the band on your show today. Think you could play 'Money for Nothing' by Dire Straits, and dedicate it to them?"

"Thanks, Barbossa. Break a leg, guys!"

Zero was totally there to be talked to.

Chad, being the talkative one of the group and all, contributes, "I'm Chad; I play the bass, which means I pretty much just follow along with whatever the girls do..."

"I'm Zero, and I play guitar and sing. We're sort of a fusion band, with lots of different influences, from punk to opera which I swear is not as weird as it sounds," she said with a laugh. "The band's title doesn't mean we go on forever. In part, it's our way of drawing attention to the plight of the poor little deers."

Chad was there, being generally uncomfortable, because, man, did this studio seem really small to anyone else?

Yep, there was Nadia as well. She might have been looking at the chart she'd made back before V left.

She didn't look like she was in a very good mood.

Agnes was there, but spending most of her time looking around at the place that made the radio.

It was a bit underwhelming.

Willow stopped by the studio with a plastic container. "Hi, Barbossa! Are the squirrels in?"

"Hi, guys!" Willow said. She knelt down and opened the container. "I brought you a treat. Seven-layer bars with plenty of nuts!"

Willow gave them a little wave. "You're welcome! You work so hard, I figured you could use a treat."

"Sure!" Willow said. "I'll bring some Saturday. That work?"

"Bye, guys!" Willow said, giving them a wave. She waved to Barbossa too. "Bye! Thanks for letting me interrupt!"
