Luke's Diner, Thursday

Jude was bouncing around the diner as much as sagging shorts and perpetually bad posture would allow him to bounce. He was going home tomorrow! With his girlfriend! Dude!

Luke's is open.

Neither Wilson nor Aziraphale had ever eaten at Luke's before, so when they decided to meet for lunch, they headed over to the diner to give it a try. The pair settled in at a table and perused the menus.

"And how was class today, love?"

Sliding in to the other side of the booth, Wilson tugged some materials out of his sling and set them aside, then reached for a menu.

"Oh...about as challenging as ever." Wilson said with a hint of a wry smile on his face. "I think the topic twinged a nerve in a few and I even was careful to keep the whole 'religeous' angle out of it."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"The topics for that class are bound to twinge a nerve or two," Aziraphale agreed, looking sympathetic. "I've got a whole group of students who are upset with me over assigning a dream journal. You never know what's going to set a person off. But that's important. They'll begin thinking if it's a topic that they feel strongly enough about to get a little riled."

He touched his hand briefly to Wilson's and set down his menu. "At least no one's protesting your class," he added, with a smile.

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yet." Wilson said a little ruefully but he gave a small nod, acknowledgement that what Phale was saying was right. One never did know what was going to set the students, especially these students off.

"I'll be giving them their first test next week, I'm going to have to spend some time coming up with good scenarios and questions for them. Oh! Speaking of time...err...I picked up a couple of shifts at the clinic."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The angel's face brightened immediately.

"Oh, did you? That's wonderful, James! What shifts will you be working?"

It was possible he was already trying to decide if he'd be spending those shifts at the clinic, or finding himself something to do to fill the empty time.

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wednesday mornings and Saturday evenings, starting this Saturday." He said with a grin. It was possible that Wilson would at least expect visits, even if the angel didn't stay the whole time at the clinic with him.

"Ah, by the way...would you mind helping me with some homework I have to grade?" Wilson looked sweet and innocent, his best boyish 'who me?' expression. It was all together possible he was attempting to fob off Willow's homework on the angel.

....

He doubted it would work.

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really? I have detention of course, this Saturday, but it ought to be finished by that time. Perhaps I'll bring supper by the clinic."

In fact, that statement might well have been the beginning of a tradition.

And Wilson was wrong about the homework, although he did get a curious eyebrow quirk from Aziraphale. "Of course I'll help you, love. What would you like me to do?"

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Realizing that Phale was serious about the homework, Wilson sat back with a chuckle and shook his head.

"No, love it's all right. I just...was joking. Miss Rosenberg puts a great deal of time and effort into her homework so if say I ask for a page long essay, she'll submit a twenty page baby thesis complete with footnotes and references to materials beyond the original required text. It's all good mind you, I'm glad to see the academic interest but having her, Blair and Miss Granger all in one class...their homework papers alone could break the straps on my briefcase."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, that's wonderful, though! I'm so glad you have some students who are so interested in your class. I do know what you mean, though. I have a couple of students -- Blair among them -- who have really sunk their teeth into the topics they've been given."

He mused a little on his students for a moment, and was reminded that Phoebe had been missing. "I don't suppose you've heard anything about Phoebe, have you? I was hoping she might come by office hours, but I didn't see her, and I'm becoming awfully worried, she's been away so long."

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Looking up from the chef salad he'd ordered, Wilson's brows furrowed in a curious expression.

"She was in class today. Seemed rather subdued but came by afterwards and was...upset that she wasn't around to help last week. I told her not to fret upon it. Maybe she's distracted by Homecoming and anniversary stuff, love?"

Wilson put the suggestion out there, genuinely hoping that was in truth the only issue and not that something had come up with Bel.

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Was she? I'm glad to hear that she's back, then. I expect I'll see her tomorrow in class."

Aziraphale hoped as well that his argument with Bel hadn't translated over to troubles with Phoebe, but he was sure that she'd seek him out if she was angry. He'd see her in class, and find a few minutes to talk to her.

Snitching a bit of cucumber from Wilson's salad, he traded a french fry of his own for it. "What shall we do this afternoon, love?"

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Making a playful grab for his cucumber, Wilson accepted the fried potato as payment and reached over to dip it in the angel's ketchup.

"Seems to be a nice enough day, want to take a walk around town? Maybe check out some of the new stores?"

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"That sounds like a very nice idea," Aziraphale replied with a grin, as he offered a second french fry as a reconciliatory payment. "I keep meaning to do that, and just....well, I just haven't made the time."

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Wilson chuckled softly and shook his head. He knew how the angel could get at times, tunnel visioned until someone came and tug him out of his self imposed hole.

Such as...for leaf rustling.

"How did your office hours go, lover?"

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh goodness, I had two visitors today!" Aziraphale looked shocked at the idea. "The Doctor stopped in to chat, and then Miss Tam brought me a sack of biscuits and we talked about Homecoming. She and Blair are going together, you know."

He looked as proud of that statement as if he'd arranged it himself.

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wilson finished off the last of his salad and picked up his iced tea for a sip. Dark eyes were dancing with good humor as he listened to Phale and he laughed softly.

"Seems you have made a friend of young Miss Tam. Hopefully sometime she can stop by for bad movies and dinner with Blair, I'd like to meet her."

There was a flicker of something in Wilson's eyes...a good something but he still lowered his lashes and kept it to himself regardless.

"Homecoming does seem to have brought the lovebirds out hasn't it? Almost as bad as the Valentine's Day ball."

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That 'something' in Wilson's eyes intrigued the angel, but he kept his curiosity to himself, knowing he'd find out eventually if the young doctor wished it. He did nod approvingly at the idea of having the young friends over for movie night.

"I'd quite like that. Although with your clinic hours now, we'll have to be sure to move it to Fridays instead. Perhaps next week, once everyone's recovered from Homecoming."

He smiled at the mention of Valentine's Day, although a little bit of a shadow passed across his eyes. Aziraphale still hadn't completely reconciled what had happened.

Clark waved at Aziraphale and Wilson.

btw in case i didn't say so before, clark is an alien, phale probably would be able to tell that yeah?

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Aziraphale nodded and smiled at Clark in return.

He found it interesting how many unusual people there were in Fandom. Especially ones he wouldn't classify as quite exactly human.

[ooc: Yep, he totally would!]

[identity profile] dr-jwilsonmd.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Wilson waved as well to the quiet man he'd seen around town, giving Clark a warm smile as he addressed them.

"Good afternoon, Sir. We're doing well, how are you?"

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm doing rather well." Clark said. If a bit bored. "Looking forward to the weekend."

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Clark came in glad to see that Jude seemed in a good mood.

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Clark ignored the shorts needing to be hitched up. "Hello Jude, how are you?"

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, not so bad. It's been pretty quiet though. Maybe the returning alumni will shake things up a bit."

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh are you going on a trip?"

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Clark blinked. "Is it November in your world already?"
