A Claratin (TM) and vast quantities of juice later, Giles is back in the shop.

He's currently reading The Real Middle Earth: Exploring the Magic and Mystery of the Middle Ages, J.R.R. Tolkien, and ["The King of the Bracelets"].

He's swearing. A lot. And throwing things.

Giles brow furrowed as he muttered to himself, "Why on earth has he sandwiched the section on Bede between the Celts and early Saxon invaders...?"

Dawn practically skipped into the store, carrying two cups and a bag from J,GoB. "Hi Giles! I brought you tea and scones."

Giles looked up.

"Sustenence! Thank you. I seem to have forgotten to go grocery shopping this week."

"Bad, bad Watcher," she teased, sitting down in one of the chairs after leaving the tea and scones on the counter. "So, is something up, or is this just you forgetting stuff?"

"Just me forgetting stuff. I got a new shipment of Agatha Christie mysteries, but, comparatively speaking, that doesn't precisely qualify for something 'being up.'"

He sat in the chair next to her, sipping tea. "What about you? How are classes going? What are you taking this semester, anyway?"

"Classes are going okay," she said, folding her feet under her. "Some of it I know already, but other stuff is way out there--like, I met the Cheshire cat in my literature class. Except, he's not the Cheshire cat anymore because they renamed Cheshire. Then there's Prophecy class and Lab, Hunting, and Cross-Cultural Creature Languages. I'm really bad at Starling, in case it ever comes up, but I was pretty decent at Dolphin and Dog."

It was possible she'd had too much mocha.

Giles sipped his tea. There was something comforting about the fact that Dawn knew how he liked it and had fixed it for him.

"Right. Cheshire got...renamed?" Giles was puzzled. "Huh. Well, it's still Cheshire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheshire) in my dimension.

Something else caught Giles's ear. "Hunting? Who's your teacher?"

And we have the first spit take of the afternoon on the line, "Bede was born in the region of the modern Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and lived there all his life except for occasional, short periods spent away at the monastery of Jarrow where he was a monk."

And the full-throated ranting has begun.

"'Music of the gods, as they finally left the country, never to return'?! Have you lost what's left of your bleeding mind?! The Romano-Britons had written off to ask for more garrisons!"

After lunch, Wilson and Phale had enjoyed walking through Fandom, poking in to places they recognized and checking out some of the new spots they didn't.

Needless to say, Aereopagitica had to be on the list for obvious reasons! Wilson felt a bit nostalgic as he touched the new door knob but for some reason, opening the door to the sound of energetic literary cursing felt as if he'd never left.

"You certain you didn't leave Crowley back here?" The young doctor asked the angel behind him, before he called out into the store. "Hellloo?"

"Well, I did leave Crowley here," Aziraphale pointed out. "But he only gets that worked up over the telly. And sometimes those catalogues he reads."

It was...a little strange, coming into the shop now that it wasn't his. But familiar too, and he decided that he liked what the new owner had done with the place.

Of course, as long as it had remained filled with books, he was hardly likely to object.

However, it transpires that [Edward the Confessor] had already promised the succession to the throne to William of Normandy, who came to England to fight Harold for the kingship. Harold lost the throne to William on 14 October 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. His earlier oath of allegiance to William had proved his undoing. After his death, it was said that Harold had been 'too free with his oaths'.

"Well that's the shortest, most superficial, and most factually incorrect version of that story that I've ever heard!" Giles shouted in disgust. Belatedly, he noticed his customers.

"Oh, I'm sorry, gentlemen." Giles visibly tried to pull himself together. "Can I help you?"

Wilson was about to respond to Phale when Giles made his second outburst and the young doctor ended up smirking.

"Now I know I've heard those words strung together before." He muttered pointedly to the angel before smiling towards Giles.

"Good afternoon, Sir. I was wondering if you had any misprinted Bibles in stock?"

"One or two, I believe. Although the misprints are really little more than typographical errors."

Aziraphale refrained from elbowing Wilson in the side, but only barely.

"Typesetting errors are the most interesting kind, I think. Are there any really interesting ones?" Hey, he couldn't give up the chance to expand his collection!

Walking over to Giles, he offered his hand. "I'm Aziraphale, this is James Wilson. We teach at the school."

And now he's entrenched, with a notebook and pen, taking notes. Ready to write the single most blistering book review in the history of books.

Certainly these warriors came dressed to kill--literally. They were a sort of Saxon samuri. ... They must have resembled Captain Hook from Peter Pan, but without the whimsy.

"Oh, dear god..." That line, with many others, has been scribbled in the notebook.

"Dear God?" River asked, having suddenly appeared in front of the shop counter. If she hadn't been smiling in a nice way and not in an insane way it might have been spooky.

Giles was a bit startled, but not terribly. "Oh, hello, River." He scratched the back of his head in frustration with the woolly-headedness of the text before him. "It's just a saying--not a nice one, really--lamenting to God. I'm reading a particularly bad book."
