"Sorry," Sam said, though she wasn't. She finished off her punch. "So, downside to having a date who also has a date? Much harder to locate when you want to dance." Or just cuddle in close, though she suspected it was Cedric's turn at Jack for the night.

Sam couldn't believe she was about to say this out loud. "Anders." She drained her cup of punch, then refilled it and drained that.

"Thanks," Sam was pleased Jaye understood, even with the giggling. "So, did you enjoy the carnival?"

"I dunked Professor Mr. Dean the Tick and made out with Seely. All in all, not bad," she says.

Sam smirked. "I hit Professor Lyman in the face with a pie. Nice job with Professor Tick, though."

"Hey, it's not often I get to do something to an authority figure and not get detention for it. Watch me take advantage of that lots," she explains. "I didn't see pie-throwing. I would have been all over that."

"Good choice. Plus, a fruit pie is heavier and doesn't fly as well--I liked the lemon meringue, though. Very aerodynamic."

"Are you sure he's not trying to just look cool?" she asks, because she can't think of anyone outside teen celebrities that have fan clubs. Unless that Columbia House music club thing counts.
