The Park, Wednesday, Late Afternoon

The earth was still moist from an earlier shower, and the smell permeated Natalie's senses as she stepped cautiously outside of the apartment building. Above her, the sky was shrouded with grey rainclouds that, even now, continued to gather and darken. She lived for days like this -- a chance to get out before sunset. She had to take precautions, of course: long sleeves, long pants, a very strong sunblock, a baseball cap and sunglasses. Even with all this, she couldn't stay outside for very long. But just a few minutes would be worth the little twinge she felt as the sun tried to filter through the clouds.

She took her stainless steel mug and crossed to the park. There, she stood watching the breeze ripple across the pond, and enjoying the sounds of life all around her.

Billy felt the need to run off some steam, and his path took him into the park, where he stopped for a breather. Possibly to hang upside down from a tree, but that was tentative.
