Aereopagitica, 17 October
It's chilly. It's raining. There's a pot of tea on the counter.

Re: Morning
"I'm looking for a book," he declared, simply.

"But that's not all I carry," Giles hastened to add, his shopkeeper's instincts ringing. "You'll find a variety of fiction, history, literature, criticism, and art." Please don't ask about science...

Re: Morning
At the word "new age" Giles winced again. "No. It is not. Or I should be all akimbo every time I dust. Please feel free to browse the shelves as much as you like."
The 'new age' concept was something of a sore point for Giles. His supplier had once sent him a box full of trade paperbacks by authors with names like "Rowan Goldendeer" and with titles like How to Turn Your Ex-Boyfriend into a Toad: And Other Spells for Love, Wealth, Beauty, and Revenge.
Giles had sent the entire box back with a note.
Dear Gerald:
Please put these where the sun does not shine.
And I do not mean the Od'nna dimension.

Standing just inside the door, she allowed it to close and wiped a raindrop as it rolled down her forehead. "Hello? Mr. Giles?"
Re: Early Evening
"You'd think I'd asked him to come out a noon on Christmas for what--" Giles made it out to the front of the store and saw Dr. Lambert. He brightened considerably.
"Ah, Dr. Lambert. How nice to see you. How can I help you today?"

"Apparently." He took the notebook and started flipping through it. "What am I seeing here?"

She paused. "I, ah, couldn't pass on everything; some things I really can't share until I've discussed it with my
other'patient.' But I've included as much as I'm comfortable with."I suppose I don't need to tell you to be very careful with that information."
Re: Early Evening
Giles shook his head. "It's just so amazing. The differences, I mean. Do you know I met a man today in whose dimension vampires came from space?"
Re: Early Evening
Curiosity, it was said, killed the cat...but maybe not a vampire.
