Aereopagitica, 17 October

It's chilly. It's raining. There's a pot of tea on the counter.

[ooc: Sorry about there being no post on Thursday. Lawyers and veterinarians were involved.]

The Doctor stepped into the store for what was amazingly his first time.

"I'm looking for a book," he declared, simply.

"Really? That's fantastic. Nothing worse than stepping into a book shop that has no books," the Doctor said. "Do you specialize in anything?"

"Occult, really?" the Doctor looked intrigued. "European, Asian, African, or just a big goulash mix of them all?"

"What about science?" the Doctor asked. "Or is this one of those new-agey sort of shops? Should I be careful not to disturb the flow of chi through the shelves?"

The Doctor chuckled. "May I ask the name of the proprietor?"

The gray weather outside allowed Natalie to leave for work a little early. She decided to make a stop at the bookstore, hoping to drop off the notes she had collected for Mr. Giles. If she was lucky, she might also find time for a latte before heading to the clinic, as well.

Standing just inside the door, she allowed it to close and wiped a raindrop as it rolled down her forehead. "Hello? Mr. Giles?"

Nat smiled as she saw Giles approach. "And good to see you, Mister Giles." She withdrew a leather-bound notebook and offered it to him. "I've been busy while you were away."

"It's most everything I've learned about vampires...as I know them, at least." Her lips curled into a lopsided smile. "I tried not to get too bogged down in technical details. If I have, I'll gladly translate."

"Of course." Natalie readjusted her bag on her shoulder, wondering where to begin. "I've written a bit about both the social observations I've made and the medical: What types of 'extended families' they seem to travel in, how they interact with one another, as well as what I've discovered about their physical condition. I've been able to identify vampirism as a virus, but there appears to be a spiritual or psychological aspect of the infection as well that I can't treat." She shook her head. "Not that the virus has historically responded well to treatment. Really pretty much the opposite."

She paused. "I, ah, couldn't pass on everything; some things I really can't share until I've discussed it with my other 'patient.' But I've included as much as I'm comfortable with.

"I suppose I don't need to tell you to be very careful with that information."

Natalie's brows arched upward. "Space?" She blinked. "Did he ever mention them being anything other than vampires? Or were they a race of vampires?"

Curiosity, it was said, killed the cat...but maybe not a vampire.
