Movies in the Park, Wednesday at Dusk

Wednesday has turned out to be a beautiful fall day and a gorgeous fall evening. Just a little while before dusk, a temporary movie screen is set up at one end of the park. There's a large grassy area in front of it, where movie-goers can spread out blankets or set up lawn chairs. Some people are already gathered, picnicing on the grass while the sun sets.

[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads will be have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs. This is the first in a series, which will run every Wednesday until mid-November (barring an unexpectedly cold autumn).]

"Aziraphale... Tartan?"

"What, love? It's stylish and warm."

"It's tartan."

"Being in love means little sacrifices." Kiss!

Flail...sigh...grumble. "Tartan."

But with the Lindsay tartan blanket hooked over his arm, Wilson walked out into the park with the angel. Phale carried a picnic basket over his one arm, the other wrapped around the young doctor's waist as they looked around for a good spot.

"I'm glad you spotted this, lover mine. I adore Audrey Hepburn. I think Katherine had the greater range, mind you but Audrey could just captivate you."

"I've come to the conclusion, love." Wilson said as he reached into the picnic basket and withdrew the bottle of chilled wine within. "That you like food. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder if that's why you went and fell in love with me. I feed you."

Dark eyes were twinkling as he said this and he leaned over to kiss the angel's cheek, before applying himself to the task of getting the cork out of the bottle.

Blair was well prepared with a couple of blankets in hand and a big furry hat perched on his hat. He spread out one of the blankets on a level spot and grinned at River. "You're cute, but I'm warning you now not to steal more than your share of the blanket."

River grinned mischieviously. "Can I steal your hat then?" She sat down and wrapped her share of the blanket around her, then carefully placed her head on Blair's shoulder.

((ooc: OMG cute hat!))

"I don't know if you're that cute." Blair wrapped an arm around River and grinned. "I might be convinced to rent out the hat for a small fee."

He was definetly thinking about kisses right now.

River gave him a teasing look and then kissed him quickly. "Now?" she asked.

As much as she'd been getting used to modern society, Rosette still couldn't help getting absolutely excited about movies, especially when said movies were going to be played on very large screens and late picnic dinners could be involved. So between organ practising and reading about 11th Century Russian hell, Rosette and Chrono threw together a bunch of sandwiches and snacks in the kitchette in the basements, packed it up in a basket, and headed for the park.

They found themselves a nice spot, spread out a blanket and settled in. Rosette's bouncing kind of went down, though, when she realized that she had quite naturally made extra food, because she still went in the habit of packing for the expeditions Chrono, herself, and her brother had always gone on when she was younger. And this was just the sort of event Joshua would have loved to have gone too...

Chrono tilted his head, as if he'd noticed the sudden change in disposition and Rosette, not wanting him to worry, quickly put on a smile and started chatting to him irreverently about how this was sure going to beat sneaking out early for missions to just catch the news reels back home.

Jude boarded slowly through the park with Setsuna at his side. Despite the steadily more chilly weather, he was still in his uniform of shorts, long-sleeved t-shirt, and toque. He had a basket of kebabs under one arm, he was holding Setsuna's with his other hand. He was also carrying a the fuzzy plaid blanket from the foot of his bed.

Tied around his neck like a cape.

Setsuna sighed, shook her head, and let a small grin slip past her dramatic expression for the umpteenth time. "You're such a dork," she said with a blush, also for the umpteenth time since they left the dorms, but not without a great deal of fondness and great restraint not to just glomp him right there for being so cute.

Jude grinned at her. "But if I was carrying the blanket, I couldn't be doing this," he pointed out, squeezing her hand.

Setsuna waved her free hand at him. "I could've carried it."

During her various handwavy outings in the week, Laura had seen the ads for the Wednesday night movie in the park. It had been at least two years since she had seen a movie; it wasn't something she, as Secretary of Education, had much time to do. She had even less time for recreation after becoming President of the Colonies. And so, at dusk, she wrapped up in some warm fleece, grabbed a blanket, her booklight, and her journal, then headed out the door to the park. She wasn't sure she'd want the journal, but if the mood struck, she wanted to be able to jot down a few thoughts on this bit of "pop culture."

She spread her blanket out on the green and made herself at home.

John totes a vintage folding lawn chair from the bowels of the sparky shop and sets it up so that he can lounge in his plastic and aluminum webbing and just chill.

Marie and Jamie found an empty spot on the grass and Marie started spreading out the blanket she'd brought with her.

"I've never seen this movie," she admitted.

"Neither have I," Jamie said holding onto the thermos in one hand and another blanket over his shoulder. "It's an action flick. Right?"

"Um... I don't think so," Marie told him. "It's an old movie with Audrey Hepburn."
