Cafe Fina, Wednesday

For reasons unknown to anyone, none of the staff of Cafe Fina showed up that day.

It was probably related to their honoring the Great Gravy Battle of '29.

Only the sushi chef came. The sushi chefs didn't participate in the Great Gravy Battle of '29. No gravy on sushi, ya see. Only soy sauce.

Regardless, for today only, Cafe Fina had been transformed into a sushi bar.

Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.

Because, hey, sushi!

Clark entered the restaurant and removed his hat. Cause his momma raised him with manners she did.

Alfred suddenly appeared at Clark's shoulders. "Good evening Mr. Kent. I'm afraid that I must inform you that tonight only sushi and sushi related foods and beverages are on the menu."

Clark blinked in surprise. Wheter it be by the menu, or Alfred's sudden appearance we will never know. "Oh, uhm, well, I guess uhm, one should be open to new experiences...sushi related beverages?"

"Green tea, sake, and a soft drink called Ramune," Alfred explained.

"I think I'll try the Ramune." Clark decided. "Random decision, or, uhm special occaision?"

"I believe it is a special occasion, although I can't be sure. All I currently know is that no one in the kitchen staff aside from the sushi chefs and the dishwashers has shown up for work."

Clark looked concerned. "Has anyone tried to reach them?"

"Yes, but we get answering machine message saying that they will not use the phone this day, and references to a "Battle of Gravy"."

"I...see. Well, uhm, at least this means they're probably okay right?"

"I believe so. I have dispatched waiters to check on some of their houses. They tell me that their house doors have "Never forget" written on them in gravy. They knock, the inhabitants respond that they cannot answer, for they are remembering."

Clark scratched his head. "I'm actually rather comforted that the island's strangeness isn't just for big plots."

"No, it appears that it happens with the little things just as easily," Alfred commented. He produced a Ramune for Clark. "Now, what can I get you to eat?"

"Well, uhm, I've never had sushi before, what, er, what would you reccomend?"

"Well, for a beginner, I would suggest a tuna roll, california roll, and salmon roll."

"That sounds good, I'll trust your judgement." Clark smiled.

Alfred bowed and left for the kitchen before returning with a small plate with sushi, wasabi, and ginger. He placed a bottle of soy sauce on the table. "WIll there be anything else?"

"Uh, no, no, but I'll let you know."

They've even got Monkey's Brain sushi!

Brought to you by my school cafeteria's decision to have a sushi bar.

I haven't tried it yet. Hopefully I won't get food poisoing.

You're a braver man then I Gunga Dinn...

It's delicious. And cheap. They just need to work on supply. Which I understand they will have fixed by the end of the week.

"Die" should probably be "day".

...Unless Alfred is killing his staff. Which he might. I think. I don't know.

Well... there was a period of time when Alfred was a villian...
