Sunday Evening : Victor's Room At The Arms

After the meeting between Prue and Cole, Phoebe wasn't really sure how the meeting between Victor and Cole was going to go. However, Victor wanted to be a part of her life now, and he needed to understand that there were people in her life he would have to accept.

He wouldn't have to like everyone, but he would need to know about them and accept them in her life.

Seeing his reaction to Cole would also show if he meant everything he said.

"Love, relax. It's not like he can vanquish you," she said to Cole as they walked down the hallway to Victor's room.

"Yeah," Bel said, "unlike your sister." He stared at the door. "You wanna knock?"

"She at least didn't kill you?" Phoebe said lamely as she knocked on the door.

Victor opened the door and smiled warmly. "Phoebe, I'm glad you came back," he said. "And who's your friend?"

He stepped back and allowed them to enter.

"Hi, Daddy," Phoebe said, calling him that without even thinking about it. "Dad, this is my boyfriend, Cole. Cole, this is my father, Victor Bennett."

"Uh, hi," Bel said. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too, Cole," Victor said. "Please, come in and sit down. Would you like something to drink? I got some sodas from the vending machine."

"Caffeine?" Phoebe asked hopefully as she squeezed Cole's hand in encouragement.

It was probably obvious that she had already made her decision where Victor was concerned.

"Got any beer?" Bel asked. Probably not the thing you wanted to ask your girlfriend's father....

Victor frowned at Cole's request. "No beer," he said. "I think there's some colas though."

Phoebe groaned softly. That was not the impression she wanted her Dad to have.

"He just met Prue," she said in explanation.

"Yeah, she wanted to vanquish me," Bel grumbled.

Victor blinked. "Phoebe? Why does your sister want to vanquish your boyfriend?"

"Because he's half-demon," she said calmly. Then she looked at him seriously. "He is also half-human, with a soul, and I mean the world to him."

That could be his stubborness staring back at him.

Bel shifted uncomfortably. "Oh. You hadn't told him yet."

"Hmm," Victor considered that. "Well, at least he's not a whitelighter."

Phoebe was relieved he hadn't... wait, what?

"You don't like Whitelighters?"

"No, not a Whitelighter," Bel confirmed. "Not even close."

Victor rubbed the back of his neck. "I probably shouldn't tell you this, Phoebe," he began. "But your mother... she, um..."

She wasn't going to tell him she knew. She could give him that secret to tell her.

"She what?"

Bel, however, wasn't in on this train of thought. "She banged her Whitelighter," he said. "Paige, remember?"

"Who's Paige?" Victor asked, wondering how his daughter's boyfriend knew about her mother's affair.

Phoebe glared at Cole and then looked at Victor. "Uhm... my half-sister..."

Oooops. Awkward. Bel really ought to learn when to keep his mouth shut.

"Your what?" Victor asked.

Phoebe gave Cole an exasperated look and then winced a little at the mixture of emotions coming from Victor.

"Paige is my half sister, Daddy," she said quietly. "She's half whitelighter."

Bel looked around idly, wondering if he should just shimmer out of range.

"Huh. Well, I knew about the affair," Victor said. "But I didn't know there was a baby. Whitelighters are nothing but trouble," he warned. "Have you met yours yet?"

He turned to Bel. "They're tricky bastards, so keep an eye on him, okay?"

"I don't have a whitelighter," Phoebe said. "At least, not that I know of..." She found it interesting that Victor was warning Cole about them, though. "You think my whitelighter would try something?"

"Over my dead body," Bel growled.

Victor smiled. "That's the right attitude," he told Bel. "You give those guys an inch, they'll take a mile. Oh, sure, they're supposed to be 'protecting' your wife, but what they're really doing is trying to steal her away."

Phoebe groaned. Great, give the possessive demon the idea that someone that has the job to protect her will be trying to sleep with her.

"I'll definitely keep that in mind," Bel said. "No Whitelighter is gonna put his hands on Phoebe on my watch."

"Good," Victor said. "I like him, Phoebe."

Phoebe beamed happily. "I'm glad you do, Daddy. Cole is very important to me. Oh, and Grams doesn't know about him yet."

Bel winced a little at that statement. "And we're going to keep it that way," he said.

"That's probably a wise idea," Victor agreed. "Penny's a little... crazy."

"Grams is not crazy!" Phoebe huffed indignantly.

"She's got quite the rep in the demonic world," Bel said. "She put fear in the name Halliwelll."

"I don't blame them," Victor said. "She's a formidable woman."

He left the 'in more ways than one' unspoken.

"Grams is powerful and protective. We've learned a lot from her."

"All the more reason I don't want to meet her," Bel muttered.

Victor nodded. "She's definitely a 'vanquish first and ask questions later' kind of woman," he said.

He turned to Phoebe. "And how's Piper? She graduated last year, I assume? Where is she now?""

"She's back at the Manor and going to college," Phoebe said with a wistful smile. "It's been a little weird not having her here."

"Yeah, I even kinda miss her," Bel said.
