"I thought you were our accountant," Pip said. "'Cause you didn't trust anyone else."

"You're welcome," Pip said as he sat down at the table.

Granpere also sat down as the restaurant host pulled out a chair for Pippi.

"My petit-fils tells me you're a rather accomplished marin."

"Oh yes, I like to think so Captain Burnadette. But my boat was eaten."

"By a very strange monster creature," Pip said. "One of those "barely escaped with our lives" deals."

"Several... strange monster creatures actually if I remember correctly." Pippi mused.

Of course, she didn't remember them being interested in the two of them but still.

"Good thing for you Pip was there to protect you eh?" Granpere said lighting up a cigarette.

"I do what I can," Pip said. "Although Pippi's capable of taking care of herself."

"I suppose that comes from being the latest in a long line of pirates. Though I find it difficult to believe that of such a jolie petite fille."

"That's okay, lots of people make that mistake." Pippi responded cheerfully.

"Looks can be decieving, Granpere. I believe it was you who told me to not take everything at face value?"

"That I did. That I did." He said looking at her appraisingly. "Pip has told me you have some unusual abilities, would this be what he was referring to?"

"Oh I suspect so." Pippi said. "I'm not nearly as good a fighter as he is but I do okay."

"She can bench press a semi-truck," Pip said, accepting his handwaveily ordered beer.

"Oh I couldn't do that." Pippi said taking a sip of her handwavey wine.

"It's too awkward. The cab would flop around and get in the way."

The two of them were obviously trying to have a joke on him.

"You certainly have a point Cher."

Pip shrugged. "But strength isn't everything. I mean, take a look at Brian."

Then changed the subject.

"I'd hoped to meet him too." She said. "Not that your company isn't delightful Captain Granpere."

"Where is Brian?" Pip asked. "You said he couldn't make it?"

"South Africa." Granpere responded. "And bitching non-stop."
