Luke's Diner - Rory's Birthday Party - Friday Evening

Luke closed the diner for a few hours in the late afternoon so Lorelai could decorate the diner for Rory's birthday party. It was hard to believe it had been a year since they'd done this. He was pretty sure he was still finding glitter from last year's party and, if he knew his wife, he would be finding glitter in his diner forever.

The food and decorations were ready to go at the appointed time. All they needed were the guests and the birthday girl.



[open to all. you totally received invites earlier in the week; I just completely forget to post something because I started a new job this week and am fairly brain-dead. Wait for OCD is up! Come and Party!! The birthday girl will be pinging in something after 9 EST.]

Bridge looks at Rory. "*I'm* okay with defining this," he says seriously. "Are you? Really?"

"What?" Bridge eyes her.

"I don't want to like, tell people who might make flags or shout it on the radio just yet." Rory shoots a significant look over at Jaye, then looks back at Bridge. "I'm shy. Sorry. It's not a secrecy thing, it's a privacy thing."

"I think Jaye's been making flags since January or something," Bridge points out. "Not-saying-anything to her might be something of a lost cause."

"I told Cally the other day, and I thought she was going to like, pop," Rory says, rolling her eyes. "We have shippers. It's weird."

"Anders thought it was cute," Bridge says. "Um, it's okay that I told him, right?" he asks worriedly.

"Yes," she says, smiling. "It's fine with me if you tell people. I just...you know, don't want to announce it. I'm not a big 'Yay, hi public, here's my relationship!' person in general. Some things are just more special if not everyone is watching."

"Oh," Bridge nods. "Well, yay," he says again.

"I'm really repressed and shy," she blurts. "And also I can't cook, and sometimes I get cranky, and I'm a workaholic, and are you sure you want to do this?"

"I talk too much and I think too many thoughts and I have a machine that makes any kind of food I want and I really, really do," Bridge babbles.

"Yes, but those are really cute qualities," she insists. "I, on the other hand, am capricious and nerdy and not very attractive and sometimes I watch really awful television and you do, really?"

Bridge rolls his eyes. "You're smart and pretty and that's okay because I don't watch much TV at all so we balance out and yes, I do."

Rory looks like she's going to say something else, but instead she just says, "I like balance," and reaches for Bridge's hand.
