Caritas, Monday Evening

After his confrontation with Sam earlier, Jarod found himself bracing every time the door to Caritas opened, unsure what, or who, to expect. The zombies, at least, were happy to see him, and regaled him with stories of how horrible Sam was at first aid.

It was petty, but it made him feel a bit better.

He was now engaged in studying the little bottles of alcohol, unsure of exactly what to do with them.

[ooc: This is the official Caritas post. *stamps with seal*]

Looking for Sam, Jack wandered into Caritas, whistling jauntily.

It died away when he saw who was there instead and, expression absolutely neutral, he slowly walked over to lean on the bar.

"Jarod." Jack didn't bother commenting on the fact that he was back. "Where's Sam? And you could give me a beer, seeing as you seem to have taken her job."

Jack dug a bill out and tossed it on the counter, smirking. "No. You're not. Sam doesn't need a keeper. She can more than take care of herself." As he reached for the beer, he added, "Last time I checekd you can't 'take' something that's been abandoned."

"Uh huh." Jack looked at him dubiously. "You might find others don't feel the same way. You might find," he took a long drink of his beer, then set the bottle back on the bar, rolling it between his hands, before staring challengingly at Jarod, "all sorts of things you left behind have been taken."

Jack knew he shouldn't, knew Parker was going to kill him for implying what he was implying, but the urge to hurt Jarod as badly as he'd hurt him was kind of hard to resist. "Not everything's as simple as this bar. And part of the problem with leaving things behind? Sometimes they find something better." And his grin was pure smugness, showing more than a hint of teeth.

"Whatever." Jack drained his beer, to all outward appearances entirely unconcerned, not letting even a hint of emotion escape. "Thanks for the beer," he said and started towards the door.

Jack didn't turn, just lifted a hand in bare acknowledgement as he left.

It's probably a bad thing that Jaye gravitates to the bar when bored, even when she's not really about the drinking right now. "You look familiar," she says. "Didn't we meet at a party a while back...?"

"Hm, not sure I've been there... Or maybe I have and just don't remember it," she says, and smiles. "Hi."

"Coke?" she says, and winces. "Someday I won't feel pathetic saying that. So how's it going?"
fates_jaye: (way cute)

"You get bonus points for the umbrellas, though," she says. "That's gotta count for something?"
