Movies in the Park, 11/01

It's that time of the week again, and the portable movie screen has been set up in the park. The outdoor gas heaters are also in place, to create a pleasant atmosphere for movie-watching.

Bring your date or meet your friends, or just find a quiet place to enjoy a good movie. The film begins at dusk.


[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads will be have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs. This is the first in a series, which will run every Wednesday until mid-November (barring an unexpectedly cold autumn).]

Grab a space in the grass to lay out your blanket, or bring along a lawn chair to relax in. Snuggle with your date, chat with your friends, enjoy a picnic dinner before the movie starts.

Jake had cut his hair, got a thermos of coffee, and the newest issue of the Spider. He had a blanket, and he was totally ready with presents for Friday. Life, he decided, was pretty good.

Krycek sat down on the blanket beside Jake, smiling slightly. "You ever seen this one before?"

"Nope." Jake shook his head. "Have you?" Not having to constantly push his bangs out of his eyes was very odd.

Rory was on her way to the Perk on a mid-evening coffee run when she spotted him, and stopped dead in her tracks.

"Jess?" she asked, loud enough to be heard but still uncertain and disbelieving.

Jake really only heard the 'J' part of the name and Rory's voice. He turned his head a little and waved. "Hi Rory!"

Lyra headed out to the park with a blanket big enough to share with anyone who hadn't thought to bring one, a huge cuddly wool sweater, a big bag of popcorn, and a six-pack of Coke.

Now, to find the right spot. She and Pan bickered good naturedly about which place would be best while they wandered about the park in front of the screen

Jack picked a spot off to the side. He had two blankets - one for snuggling on and one for snuggling under - a large thermos of Kahlua laced coffee, popcorn and a bag of Reeses Pieces.

Smiling in satisfaction, he stretched out on his stomach, making himself comfortable while he waited for his dates.

"Good evening, Mister Harkness," Sam plopped down on the blanket next to Jack and dropping three submarine sandwiches on the ground in front of them both. "I didn't cook, I just bought."

"And a good evening to you, Ms Carter. So formal tonight," Jack replied with a laugh, reaching out to brush one hand down her arm. "I didn't cook either. I did brew, however," he pointed at the thermos, "and it's got a little bit extra in it. Just to keep us warm."

Lana poked at Jack on her way to set up a blanket space for her and Jim. "Hey you," she said with a grin. "Haven't seen you for a while."

JOhn backpacked a blanket, sleeping bag, and a pillow for a night watching classic screwballs.

Try as she might, Rosette couldn't convince Chrono to come along for this movie. He looked all sulky and complained that this one just didn't interest him at all, and it was okay, he'd just stay here and practise his work on the skin organ, and to have a good time, and Rosette shruggged and said okay. It just meant more picnic food for her and John.

She would have waved when she spotted him, but she was burdened by the basket. She beamed and hurried over. "Hi, John. Look! I come bearing food."

No one minds if you talk at outdoor movie. Or if you huddle under the blanket with your date.

Tonight's movie is The Philadelphia Story (http://imdb.com/title/tt0032904/), with Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, and James Stewart.

Both men were in a much more solemn mood than they had been the day before, but evening found Aziraphale and Wilson staking out one of their favorite spots in the park to watch this week's film. They'd had a quick supper at home this time, but had brought along a thermos of spiced cider to enjoy.

Spreading out the familiar tartan blanket, Aziraphale settled against the trunk of a tree, the young doctor quickly making himself comfortable in the angel's arms, as they sat quietly to watch the movie.

They're taking down the screen until next week, but you can still talk about what you just saw, continue snuggling with your date, or make plans to meet your friends for drinks, a late dinner, or more socializing.
