Marie and Jamie decided to go out for a nice dinner date. They decided to avoid Cafe Fina though, given the bad memories from their first date.

"When was the last time we went out for dinner?" Jamie asked. "Does the pizza planet with the Mariachi band count?"

Marie laughed. "Considering I wasn't actually there with you, I don't think it counts," she said. "I don't think we've ever actually had a dinner date. We went to Luke's a couple times after basketball games, but that was before we were dating."

"Well then. We should make this special somehow," Jamie said grabbing a seat at a booth. "We should get something really weird and exotic."

"Weird and exotic?" Marie repeated, looking skeptical. "I dunno. I think I might just stick to my orange chicken with steamed rice."

"Oh come on! Try something different," Jamie teased. "If you do I'll... I'll do something worthwhile."

Well that definitely had possibilities. "Depends on what you want me to try," Marie decided.

"They have octopus," Jamie said looking through the seafood section. "With a spicy sauce."

Marie made a face. "And if I try it, you'll do whatever I say?"

"Sure!" Jamie said not thinking about the consequences. "And I'll have the barbecued eel."

Marie still didn't look totally sure, but she nodded. "Can I order something normal too?"

Jamie pouted a little. "Okay. But only an appetizer."

"Thank you," Marie smiled as the waitress came over to take their orders.

After the order was placed Jamie sat back in his chair and grinned at Marie. "See? Isn't this fun?"

"It sure is," Marie agreed, grinning back. "So, want me to tell you now what I want?"

"Sure," Jamie replied as they were served some egg rolls and dumplings. Jamie started heaping hot mustard on his plate. "What do you want me to do?"

"Well, it would be more accurate to say that it's something I don't want you to do," Marie said. "I don't want you to earn another detention or week on the Beautification Committee between now and Thanksgiving break."

"Buh?"

Marie gave him a smug smile. "Whatever it is you've been doing that's getting you in trouble, I want you to stop doing it."

"But I haven't really done anything wrong... technically," Jamie said looking a little ashamed.

"Well, then, it should be easy, right?" Marie asked.

Jamie's eyes were tearing up. Not because he was sad but because he put too much hot mustard on his eggroll. "Sure. I'll do my best."

Marie smiled and reached over to squeeze his hand. "That's all I want," she assured him.

"Can't it be something easier? Like walking around a day without my shirt on?" Jamie asked looking a little worried.

"That's a little too easy," Marie said.

"No pants?" Jamie offered.

Cue Marie blushing furiously.

"I'd wear a thong!" Jamie offered.

That so didn't help with the blushing.

"Did you eat too much hot mustard?" Jamie teased. "You look like you might pop."

Marie tried to glare at him, but she couldn't contain her giggles. "It's too cold for you to go parading about without clothes," she pointed out.

"I'd do it for you," Jamie said with a small grin.

Marie sighed. "I know. And you so don't need to prove that."

"So taking my pants off right now underneath the booth was a bad idea, right?" Jamie asked.

There were no words. Marie just stared at him.

"I'm kidding," Jamie said doubling over with laughter.

Yes, that was totally a sigh of relief. Because Marie wouldn't put it past Jamie to do something like that.

"So did you enjoy your break?" she asked. "I feel like we haven't spent that much time together lately."

"It was pretty good though it was lacking in Marie," Jamie said with a cute pout. "I was adrift."

Marie smiled. "It's weird how there was hardly anything going on but our real life schedules just didn't mesh somehow."

"We did spend the night in the pumpkin patch," Jamie pointed out. "And I'd have to say that waking up next to you was nice."

"Yeah, that was nice," Marie agreed. "You know, Willow sometimes spends the night with Peter. We don't have to necessarily sleep in a pumpkin patch to wake up together."

Jamie dropped his chopsticks on the floor when Marie said that. "Um. Really?"

"I trust you to be careful," Marie said. "And that was really nice."

Jamie snaked his hand over to where Marie's were. "So have you tried the octopus yet?"

Marie squeezed his hand. "No. I'm sort of afraid to," she admitted.

"One bite. You'll love it. I promise. Plus? You get to tell people that you've eaten octopus."

With a sigh, Marie let go of Jamie's hand and picked up her fork. She took a very tentative bite and nodded thoughtfully while she chewed.

"Well? How is it?" Jamie asked eagerly.

"Chewy," Marie finally said. "But not horrible."

"Yay!" Jamie cheered. "See? That wasn't so bad."

And the rest of the evening was filled with food, Jamie being silly, Marie blushing and bizarre fortune cookies.
