The Park, Tuesday

While Wilson was teaching, Aziraphale decided to spend a little quiet time in the park. With his thermos of tea and a copy of The Canterville Ghost, he settled comfortably onto his favorite bench.

As he sipped his tea and read, Aziraphale wondered idly if they might get an early snow this year.

The Doctor let out a bit of a sigh as he approached Aziraphale.

"Cool day, today," he said by way of a greeting.

"Quite," Aziraphale agreed, holding up the thermos of tea. "Tea's hot though, if you'd like to join me."

"I may just do that," the Doctor said, sitting down. "I hear it's warm out on the other coast, though."

"Is it?" he asked, pouring the Doctor a cup. "I don't mind the cold weather, myself. Although a little vacation to someplace warm now and again, this time of the year...it has its attraction. James and I will be taking our classes to Las Vegas this weekend, and expect it'll be a bit warmer there as well. During the day, at any rate."

"A field trip to Vegas?" the Doctor quirked an eyebrow. "That sounds rather... unacademic, to be honest."

Chuckling, Aziraphale nodded. "Well, I suppose it does that. Although we truly do have class-related activities for them. The Prophecy students are doing a study of amateur 'street psychics'. And both classes are attending some shows -- one's a fortune teller, and the other is a sort of comedic magic act. So that my students can study the concept of divination being used for entertainment, and also the practice of fake seers plying the trade to tourists. And of course the Humor students will be studying the application of some of the topics they've been covering in class as well."

He sipped at his tea and then gave a little grin. "So you see...entirely academic in nature."

Nadia had decided to escape the dorms (and the tiny trolls) for a bit, and found her way to the park. She waved to Aziraphale.

Aziraphale raised his hand and smiled in return, then gestured toward the empty space on the bench.

"Can I interest you in a cup of tea, my dear? Or cocoa, if you'd prefer it," he added, remembering that some of the students were weird didn't drink tea.

Nadia did drink tea, but usually only when Walter or Alfred made it. But she had a seat. "Is it the Mexican cocoa? Because that stuff is really good."

"Of course," Aziraphale replied with a smile, holding out a large mug of Mexican cocoa.

"I talked with Mr Dornez yesterday. He seems to be doing very well, although I can see where he'll need a good bit of rest. How are you doing?"

Nadia blinked. "I'm fine, sir. Why wouldn't I be?" Then she took a very large drink of the cocoa, potentially burning her tongue, and coughed. "Um, I'm sorry I missed the last lab."

"I know you spent a great deal of time looking after Mr Dornez, and I expect it must have a trying time for you."

Aziraphale waited to make certain Nadia was going to recover from her cocoa-trauma, and then shook his head. "Not at all, my dear. Unless you weren't at the clinic, which is my understanding, then your absence is excused. Although if you can make up the work, that would be lovely."

"Good book?" River asked, suddenly leaning over Aziraphale's shoulder.

Yes, she did enjoy sneaking up on her friends like that.

And Aziraphale really didn't mind a bit. Invading creatures tended to be actually quite a lot less subtle than River, so when the young woman popped up behind him, the angel just turned his head and smiled.

"Oh yes, it's quite good. One of my favorite authors, in fact. Would you like to sit down and share a cuppa with me?"

"Yes, I would," River said and took a seat on the bench next to him. She smiled and sighed happily. "I like this place."

"So do I, my dear," he agreed, handing River a cup of tea. "It's one of my very favorite places in town. Really, I don't think a town is complete if it doesn't have a nice little park in it."

Aziraphale eyed River to make certain she was dressed warmly enough for the chilly weather, and asked, "How are your pet bats doing?"

River sipped her tea. "They seem happy and fluttery," she said, and added with a grin: "and they keep teasing Berthold."

"How are the spaceships?"

"So long as Berthold doesn't really object," he chuckled. The mention of the mural brought a bright smile. "The spaceships are very nice indeed! I rather expect all the other teachers are going to be jealous that I've got the nicest office in the school. Perhaps I ought to get you to paint a mural on my classroom wall."

Then he paused, an idea forming.

"Would you do one in secret, in James's office?"

After poking his nose in to share coffee with Lord Vader, Wilson made his way back down from the school towards the park, where he had a sneaking suspicion he might find himself an angel.

Coming up behind his lover, with no sneak ability what so ever, Wilson drew his hand lightly along the broad line of Phale's shoulders as he walked around the edge of the bench and flopped down next to him.

"It's cold." He complained. "But not cold enough for snow."

It wouldn't have done Wilson any good if he was adept at sneaking, seeing as how the angel always knew pretty much where the young doctor was. But he just smiled warmly and shifted on the bench until they sat close up against each other. Setting a cup of tea into Wilson's hands, Aziraphale replied, "No, I don't expect we'll have any snow for a while. Pity that."

Taking the tea with a softly spoken 'thank you' Wilson scooted up against the angel, grateful for the extra warmth.

"Indeed. Means that much longer before I can kiss you in a snowfall." He said softly, brushing a light kiss to the angel's cheek.

"Have a good day, love?"

"Oh, with that sort of reward in mind, I expect I could manage a bit of a snowfall," Aziraphale teased, returning the cheek kiss.

"I've had a very pleasant day. Quite a few visitors this afternoon, and I've done a bit of reading in between. And yourself? How was class today?"

"It went fairly well." Wilson said, sipping his tea and sneaking his arm through the angel's as they cuddled together on the bench.

"Discussed the idea of the King's Fool and how humor has been used through the ages to frame up social injustices, big power, etc for public review. Seemed to interest the kids."

"Oh, I'm glad! I expect that's a topic with quite a lot of relevence right now. Did you know there's some sort of vote happening today?"

Aziraphale snuggled up a little closer yet, and turned his arm so he could twine his fingers with Wilson's.
