The Perk, Monday afternoon
What Jaye is trying to do is sit down and be at least the slightest bit organized for once. She's got a notebook open and a pen, and is meaning to write down stuff she might need for this whole stupid Thanksgiving thing.
What she's actually doing is writing down possible excuses to give her family to explain her absence. Ones like There was a terrible accident are likely to make them show up here, and ones like I sprouted horns will probably get her taken out of school. So far she's leaning towards Finals were scheduled early, AT Thanksgiving, I know, it's insane, right? but it feels too lame to be believable.
Occasionally she'll look up at the little lion figurine looking all blank at her on the table. Yes, she brought it with her. Yes, she has a sickness.
[Open, especially for anyone who might want Thanksgiving invites.]

"Hey, Jaye," she said when she saw her.

It's really kind of sad that she can look at someone now and try to assess them for Thanksgiving dinner purposes.

The lion twitches its head at her and opens its mouth. Jaye puts her finger over it.
