The Duckpond, Monday Evening
Clark sat on a bench overlooking the pond, staring dully out across the surface of the water. The doctor had told him that for now, his mother was okay, but she was still in the hospital.
He'd come out here with the intention of giving Saigo some swimming time, but the duck stayed sitting close by. It had liked the mother of this human, and felt for his companion. Right now, his human needed him more than the pond did.

For his part, Saigo kept his eye on Mizu. Just in case.

Clark looked down at the puppy and Saigo and smiled slightly. "No, no it's not. What's your dog's name?"

//Hello! Do you wanna pway! I wanna pway! Let's pway chase! Chase! Chase!// Mizu hops excitedly in the grass.

"How is your family doing?" Clark asked.

Mizu circles the larger duck and sniffs him. He moves a little closer to lick him. This is not to try to taste him. It's an affectionate lick. Mizu likes Saigo already.
no subject
Saigo has never been licked before. He wasn't sure how to react. //What was that?//
no subject
//It's what you do to people you like!// Mizu hops around happily.

Saigo nuzzled his beak against Mizu's head. //That's what ducks do.//

"Well uh... I really don't mind so much. It nice to be at Fandom." He grins. "I mean... I really hope you hear some good news about your mom soon. I bet she'd be happy to hear from you. Maybe you could send flowers or something."

Saigo wasn't entirely surprised that he and the dog understood each other. The language barrier between animals was rather thin.
//I am Saigo De La Mancha. You can call me Saigo.//

Mizu hops more. //I wiwl! So do you wanna pway? There's probably some nice sticks to catch and we can pway chase too!//

Clark nodded at what Ranma had said, which Saigo took to mean he'd be okay for a while. //Alright.//
"If you want to try to find your mother I'll gladly help. And I'm reasonably sure that if you didn't want to go back to Japan, plenty of people on this island would be willing to help."

Mizu wags his tail joyfully. //You can chase me firwst if you wanna.//

Saigo, though at first he'd thought he was only humoring the young canine, was finding that he'd needed something like this. Sure, he wasn't a duck, but a young non-human friend was rather appealing.
He rose to his full height. //Right then! Flee!// he quacked laughingly.

"Well looks like those two are having fun."

Mizu inevitably trips after a bit.
no subject
Saigo managed not to trip over Mizu because his flapping wings gave him better stopping power. //Are you okay?//
no subject
Mizu recovers and is on his feet before Saigo even finishes asking. //Yeah! You got me though! So it's my turwn to chase you now.//

Clark had thought that Setsuna was Jude's girlfriend, but he recalled being a teenager, how relationships came and went. Well, to other people.
