The Arms Hotel, Thursday

The Hotel, as always was open and ready for any guests, expected or otherwise.

but the staff might be a bit morose.

ooc: for anyone of course, but also for a possible guest star

Lana, Jim and Martha came into the main lobby of the hotel and Lana led the way up to the front desk. "Hi," she said. "This is Martha Kent. I believe Mr. Kent made arrangements for her stay here."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, I'm sure I will," Martha said pleasantly. She hesitated for a moment. "Can you let Mr. Kent know that I've arrived? I think he wanted to see me as soon as possible."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," Martha said.

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course." She turned to Jim and Lana. "I'll see you two later. Lana, you're in the bookstore at 10:30? I'll stop by around then."

She waved as they left and then went up to her room.

[OOC: Heading to bed. It's 11PM here. Feel free to play her yourself.]

ooc: nah we can play it tomorrow, it wouldn't be the same playing her meself.

Martha went up to the room and put her bag down. The room was beautiful, but she found herself far too nervous to really enjoy any of it. Clark. Another Clark. And another version of herself who was dying. She'd hardly been able to believe it when Lana had called, but how could she turn down a request to help... herself?

Clark knocked on the door, rather nervous himself. He had no idea what to expect.

Martha opened the door and just looked at him for a moment. Was this what her Clark would grow up to look like?

She smiled at him. "Hello. You must be Clark. I'm Martha Kent."

Clark blinked for a moment in surprise. "Uhm, er y-yes, I'm Clark Kent. I-It's nice to meet you..." he stumbled over his words, because he wasn't sure what to call her. That and the resemblance to his world's Lana was just really weird.

"Please, call me Martha," she said pleasantly. "I'm so sorry to hear that your mother's ill and I do hope I'm able to help."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, Martha. Thank you so much for coming, I-I'm sorry if I...this is quite a unique experience for me."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not exactly anything I've experienced either," Martha replied with a little laugh. "But when Lana told me what was happening I had to come. Besides it's kind of neat to get an idea of what my Clark might be like when he grows up some more."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Clark was starting to become more comfortable with this Martha, and his slouch became less pronounced as he did so. "this, probably won't be a strange question, but, your Clark, is he...different than other kids?"

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
She looked at him intently. "Clark, I think you know exactly how different Clark is from other kids and why. We've worked very hard to keep it a secret - Lana, for instance, knows nothing about it, but I'm sure you know just how... alien he is."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Clark became that much more relaxed, and removed his glasses. "I wasn't sure, but, well okay I was pretty sure." he smiled. "How, how is he coping?"

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"It's hard," Martha admitted. "He's a normal teenager who can't be a normal teenager. It's hard for him to have to hide things from his friends or outright lie to him. I know it's been particularly hard in relation to Lana."

She hesitated. "I'm not sure how it was with you and your Lana or if you even have a Lana, but my Clark... well, he has very strong feelings for him, but..." She shook her head. "Lana senses he's not being truthful with her and she can't deal with that. I think it's one of the main reasons she left Smallville."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Clark nodded. "she mentioned that. And as a matter of fact, I do have a Lana. Well I don't have a Lana, but, well you know what I mean. And she actually looked a lot like you, last time I saw her."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Martha looked shocked. "She knows about Clark? Or," she calmed herself down a little, "Or the problem with the evasions, yes. Sorry. I do tend to be a bit of an overprotective mother."

She smiled at him. "Your Lana looked - looks - like me? How odd."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes the evasions. She says, and perhaps it's okay for your Clark to know this, that she mainly is unhappy that he lies about lying. That it'd be okay if he just admitted there was something he couldn't tell her."

"There's quite a bit of that on this island I understand, there are, I hear, several students from different worlds that are identical to each other."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Martha made a face. "Poor Clark. I'm afraid he's a terrible liar. And he's worried that if he admits there's something to hide that people - Lana among them - will just keep pushing until he has to tell them."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Clark nodded sympathetically. "I know exactly how he feels. I've figured out ways to evade attention, but the lying, especially to those I care about...it doesn't get any easier. And maybe it shouldn't."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think it should," Martha said quietly. "And I'm in a bit of a disagreement with my husband. I'm of the opinion that maybe Clark should be able to tell one or two people he trusts. I don't think he needs to go it alone all the time. And Lana in particular strikes me as someone who could keep a secret."

She shrugged. "But Jonathan has Clark convinced he can't."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Clark nodded again. "I told Lana that, when someone keeps a secret long enough, it can become, almost impossible to tell it to someone. Even when you want to. Maybe especially when you want to." He thought for a moment. "Something else I think maybe Clark might like to know, my father, before he passed, told me that he believed I'd been sent here, for a reason."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Martha nodded. "How could he - both of you - not have been sent here for a reason? I've believed that from the beginning."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It's something that always made me feel better when I missed out on things." he said. "And I've since learned, what that reason was. Well, in a general slightly abstract way....does, does your Clark, know where he came from?"

ooc: don't remember where lana came from in canon. clark's not gonna reveal any big secrets unless you want him to, mostly just be like: you'll see.

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Martha nodded. "He does. He's still growing into his abilities and I'm sure there's more that will show up and surprise us, but yes, he knows he comes from Krypton."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Clark smiled. He probably should reveal too much. He simply said. "In that case, when you return home, tell him Kal-El says hello."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Martha nodded. "I certainly will."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Clark looked at his watch. "Well, I should let you rest, and get back to the clinic." he said. "I can't thank you enough for coming to help Mo-Martha." He'd almost called her Mom.

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"You're very welcome," Martha replied. "Just let me know when you need me tomorrow and I'll be there. Good night, Clark. Try to get some rest. I can assure you with a great deal of confidence that your mother wouldn't want you to run yourself into the ground."

Re: Martha Kent the Younger's Room

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Clark grinned at that, and re-donning his glasses, left the room with a wave and good night.
