Devil's Nest, Saturday

Schrodinger had to say, Fandom was a very interesting place.

Apparently some people found it dangerous. Which was interesting in and of itself.

Then again, not everyone could have their brains blown out and laugh about it later.

The Devil's Nest was open.

[[Oh, and Chrono and Lucifer's conversation? Not for broadcast.]]

Seeking more privacy tonight, Lucifer picked a table in one of the darker corners of the club. He was expecting company and didn't want interruptions.

"Martini. Vodka, not gin. Dirty."

He was in a mood.

"I am expecting someone tonight, make sure we're not disturbed."

So Chrono had gone back to his dark, brooding, pre-Rosette look. He was actually surprised to still find his old cloak in their trunk, and, after consideration, he was already so inferiour as it is; he couldn't bring himself out of the church looking every bit as pathetic as he felt. He also hoped that perhaps, the lack of red coat, braid, and bow would help him seem a little less recognizable. He knew the angel and the doctor sometimes came here; he saw them leaving last night. And the angel and the doctor talked to the nun. That could be trouble....

"Sorry if I've kept you waiting, my Lord," Chrono approached the table and respectfully diverted his eyes. "May I join you?"

With an elegant wave of his hand, a chair slid away from the table. "Sit."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono obeyed, sitting quietly, patiently, hands docily settled in his lap.

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer leaned back in his chair, letting himself sink into the shadows.

"I should have killed you last night. Care to guess why I did not?"

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
The very rebelious and massochistic side of Chrono wanted to answer something along the lines of a guess that he couldn't. But, thankfully, Chrono, while rebelious and massochistic, was not stupid.

It wasn't, of course, that Chrono believed Lucifer lacked the capability. It just seemed to him that there might have been a strange sense of morality in it. Killing the demon companion of the island's nun probably wouldn't make this retirement of his all that easy to deal with, after all.

But there was always...

Chrono took in a deep breath. It was logical, yes, but it could also just be wishful thinking. "Because...because you might have a use for me..."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Very good," Lucifer purred. "Smarter than I originally thought."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono gulped, lifting his chin a bit, an action of confidence that worked against his still down-cast eyes. He shouldn't be excited to hear that Lucifer wanted to use him for something, but he also shouldn't be surprised. Wasn't that what the lot of a demon was for? Service? Especially him,,,his entire life, he'd been bound, to something, someone. It was all he was good for.

"I don't have to tell you, I'm sure," Chrono said, stiffly, "that I'm at your service, my Lord. Under the condition that it is nothing that will hurt Rosette..."

Conditionalizing a deal with the Dark Prince? Chrono was quite bold...

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. He looked Chrono over carefully, as if memorizing every detail. He took his time before finally answering Chrono's request.

"I am not in the habit of crippling my servants. Your nun is in no danger." His eyes went to Chrono's neck. "Unless you disobey me."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono sucked in a sharp breath, hating himself for the hatred he was feeling right not. Not for Lucifer, but for Rosette. Eternally to be a symbol for his weakness...Lucifer was probably loving this, the pathetic little maggot squirming in front of him, so easily cornered, so easily overpowered and controlled.

Chrono nodded. "I understand."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer was not loving this actually. The lack of a challenge bored him. The insolence from the night before interested him more than this meek creature.

But he did have his uses.

"Excellent," Lucifer said. "How much of your power do you retain?"

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Not much, unfortunately," Chrono said, steeling himself so that he at least didn't look as pathetic as his words made him sound. "How...how much of how much I've lost can you actually tell from just...I mean, you can probably sense most of what I've lost..."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer lifted his hand to touch the side of Chrono's head, brushing his fingers just above his ears and lingering there. He rubbed a small circle in one spot, closing his eyes to get a better feel for what kind of power Chrono once wielded. "And your tie to the nun? How much does that grant you?"

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono closed his eyes at the movement; he had just barely been able to resist the urge to lean into Lucifer's hand, as if to fill in the sudden pain of the void that was there. How much of his former power could Lucifer feel there? A small, staggering sort of breath slipped past his lips. He could feel Lucifer's power in that light touch, felt like just feeling that power was all he needed to feel complete again.

"I can always force the seal," Chrono told him, the words flowing out of him as Lucifer's touch melted away any barriers that would normally be firmly in place. "I'm powerful enough on my own to do that. I just can't real full capacity without her, her li--"

Chrono's eyes flew open sharply, and he pulled away, flinching almost as if being struck. Why was he telling him this? His eyes shifted across the table with a glare. "It grants me enough," he said sharply, as if that would dissolve what he'd previously said.

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I will decide if you are powerful enough," Lucifer hissed, grabbing Chrono's hair to prevent him from pulling back further.

There was the defiance from before. It sent a thrill running through Lucifer's body.

He pulled Chrono forward off his chair to a crouching position in front of him. His other hand stroked the demon's neck, nails scratching lightly against the flesh there.

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
With the shock of excitement that suddenly ran through Chrono, he couldn't help but wonder if his slight attempts to still pull away was just to confirm in his mind exactly how tightly Lucifer was holding him, to push him even further, destructively, foolishly. Chrono gnashed his teeth together, baring them for the pain, for his hatred. They had significantly sharpened, fangs appearing, almost as if Chrono was letting himself get upset so he could show Lucifer that he was capable of more than what it seemed. He grunted, feeling both the urge to pull away from the nails at his neck and to lean into them. Was there anything he could do or say to make them dig in deeper? The pain would be terrible, crippling...but divine.

"Powerful enough for what, anyway?" Chrono growled through his teeth. "You have to know what I'm capable of, otherwise you wouldn't even bother with me. Stop playing these games and get to your point."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer snarled at Chrono, letting his nails cut into Chrono's flesh, creating four perfect little slices down the length of the demon's neck.

"My plans are none of your concern, keeping me pleased enough to spare your miserable little life is."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono sucked in a breath through his teeth at the pain. That...would be hard to hide from Rosette tomorrow. Thankfully, his usual jacket had a nice, high collar...

His eyes narrowed. "Am I expect to just know what pleases you? An insignificant maggot like me?" A snide grin forced its way around his grimace, one he knew was just asking for touble, but he couldn't help it. "Might need someone to hold my hand, show me through my trembling, weakling way."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer pulled Chrono up so their faces were level, teeth bared as he did. "Oh?"

The insistence on fighting back was pleasing. The demon may be weak but he wasn't about to let himself be pushed around. And it had been ages since he indulged in such games.

He pulled Chrono onto his lap, still holding his hair with one hand and keeping him balanced with the other.

"You seem smart enough, I'm sure you'll figure it out."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Another breath caught in Chrono with a move like that, the force, the closeness (hell, there was even a vague hint of a compliment in there). It significantly managed to catch his defiance up in an overpowering wave, making him just want to cower and submit. There was no way Lucifer could have missed the slacking his stiffness into something close to trembling, the slight rolling back of his head toward Lucifer's grip on his hair. So...close; the Dark Prince had not only allowed him to be this close, but had brought him this close. This was more than...more than he could ever...

He tried to reach for his strength, his defiance, but when he lunched for it in his mind, it slipped right through his fingers. He whimpered, and hated himself for it. It was gone now; he was back to being nothing much worthless mush in his hands. "...Just tell me what I must do..."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
The demon was so wonderfully reactive.

Lucifer leaned forward and released his grip on Chrono's hair, biting down sharply on his ear. "Obey me."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono first gasped, then whimpered before the real pain settled in and he tensed, teeth clenching, hand clutching at Lucifer's shoulder. He knew he shouldn't be so bold as to cling to the Dark Prince, but he couldn't help himself in the dizzying mix of pain, pleasure, excitement at the realization that his teeth had touched his flesh. He wondered, idly, if it tasted bitter to him, disgusting, unworthy. He felt unworthy...

"...Yes," he finally managed to find his voice. "Yes." He closed his eyes tightly, realizing all too well what he was saying, but unable to stop himself. "A...always..."

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
So easy. So very easy to manipulate.

He released Chrono's ear, licking the bleeding wound roughly. "Perfect." Whether he was referring to Chrono himself of his promise was unclear.

Lucifer stood suddenly, letting Chrono drop to the floor before heading for the upstairs part of the club where his apartment was without looking back.

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Chrono wouldn't dare assume he could have possibly meant him.

He found himself on the floor suddenly with a shock, unable to do much besides stare wide-eyed at Lucifer's back for a moment as the feeling of abandonment and longing overwhelmed him. But it soon passed.

"W..wait!" Chrono called out to him, even if just to see if LUcifer would turn around. Or even stop...

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] dawn-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Lucifer paused at the doorway leading to the stairs, turning his head enough to catch Chrono's prone figure out of the corner of his eye.

"Are you coming or not?"

Re: The Lounge

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-17 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not another word needed to be spoken. Chrono pushed himself to his feet, but he stood there for a moment, as if in hesitation, eyes drifting to the door. He could still say no; he should say no. But then he felt the warm trickle of blood from his ear roll down his neck; his eyes closed as his hand drifted to it, smearing it against his skin as his fingers touched the wet rivulet, and he drew in a shaky breath. He could, he should...but he wouldn't.

A trail of cloak and purple hair followed Chrono as he cut across the room to follow him.

It was much too late now to be thinking of turning back.
