Luke's Diner - late Wednesday evening

Luke was closing up the diner and waiting for Yitzhak to stop in. He needed to hand over the keys since he, Lorelai and Bucky were heading out for Stars Hollow over the weekend.

[Luke's here for Yitzhak and one other person. If your characters want to dine at Luke's, please put up your own post for earlier in the evening. Thanks!]

Yitzhak had gotten Luke's phone call. As a rule he hated phone calls. You couldn't glare at people over the phone. But this was his boss, so there was a certain degree of politeness that had to be maintained; anyway, Luke had told him about his plans to move back to Stars Hollow, and he'd been expecting this phone call for a little bit.

Not that he wasn't still going to need a drink, afterward.

At any rate, he came down to the diner and sat down at the counter, managing to look a little less sullen and impassive than usual.

Yitzhak suppressed a soft sigh and hoped that phone number wouldn't be needed any time soon. He had a certain recuperation period he needed to go through first.

He took the envelope, opened it to check the contents, and gave Luke a brief nod when everything he'd said would be inside proved to be there.

On sticks? That earned a raised eyebrow from Yitzhak, but he nodded again.

He considered for a moment. This guy was putting him in charge of the whole damn place. Yitzhak hadn't been in charge of anything more significant than a washed-up third-rate drag queen rock star's wig collection and sorry excuse for band equipment in his life.

"Thank you."

Yitzhak nodded significantly. He remembered those trolls. Singing at them had worked pretty well, but Luke didn't look like the sort of guy well-versed in Barbra Streisand.

He patted the envelope in what he hoped was a reassuring manner and actually met Luke's gaze steadily, as if to say Luke could count on him.

Not that his expression let on any hint of his half-formed ideas of glittery paint.

Yitzhak wiped his hands hastily on his pants before reaching over to take Luke's hand and shake it firmly. "You too," he replied. "Take care of baby."

Was it too much to hope that maybe Bucky might grow up to be a drag queen?

Yitzhak, who was already planning out ideas for Bucky's first drag outfit, almost smiled at that, and moved behind the counter to help Luke finish cleaning up. He figured he could do at least that.

Like every teenager, Cameron sometimes got hungry. The kind of hunger that a cheeseburger seemed to fix. When he opened the door to the diner however, it was pretty obvious that he might be a bit late. "Are you already closed, sir?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cheeseburger?" he asked hopefully, letting the door close behind him. "No one makes them quite like you."

"Occassionally," he replied, taking a seat at the counter as he waited. "You might remember me better in a smaller version. And with a Mountie. I didn't bring him with me this time."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"My mom taught me to make myself useful," he said sheepishly. "Sorry if I got in the way."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah thanks," Cameron rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "How are they doing? Your son and Miss Gilmore," he clarified. "I haven't seen them since the troll invasion."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Who's going to make hamburgers then?" Cameron asked, sounding worried. "Uh, I mean. I can understand that. That weekend was sort of insane and it must have been rough getting abducted like that."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Will his hamburgers be as good as yours?" Cameron asked. He seemed to consider things. Since the theater had changed owners, he was without a job and the holidays were seriously making a whole in his budget. "I actually might be looking for something."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"For real?" he grinned as he picked up a pen (making sure it wasn't going to attack him first) and started filling in the form.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Cool," Cameron totally bought the whole recipe thing. "Should I work out my shifts with the new manager?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, sir," Cameron finished up the rest of the form and handed it back to Luke.

Cameron grinned and got up, picking up the bag. "Thank you, sir. I think I might like the perks here," he said. "I hope everything works out back home."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks for the burger! Night, boss," he grinned before heading out.
