The Park, Thursday Morning

Aziraphale had meant to get out and spend some time in the park all week. So while Wilson was teaching class on Thursday morning, the angel bundled up in a coat and scarf and headed over for some quality time with his bench.

The snow was still falling lightly all around the island, and it made him smile as he watched it, thinking about the delightful evening he and Wilson had enjoyed the night before. They'd managed to get their presents wrapped, despite winding up covered in ribbon and glitter themselves. Then the young doctor had brought out Luna's final project, and as he unwrapped the multi-hued bow, the two of them had enjoyed a serenade of carols.

Soon, despite the cup of tea in his hands, there was just the lightest dusting of white covering Aziraphale as well. It didn't seem to bother him, though.

An adorable little girl in a flimsy classical Greek dress and bear feet come running through the park. Walking not far behind her is Mary Poppins.

"Oh what a beautiful park!" the little girl calls to Mary. "Look at all the white stuff! Is this snow? How do you make a snow ball? Do you think it would survive the trip home?"

Brought out of his snow-reverie by the girl's voice, Aziraphale smiled at the pair, nodding a greeting at Mary.

"Good morning, Miss Poppins," he called out. "And who is your young visitor today?"

"Who am I? What's my name? You don't recognize me?" The little girl seems sad and possibly a little disappointed.

Aziraphale cocked his head and peered carefully at the little girl, then raised his eyebrows and smiled.

"Goodness. My apologies, my dear," he replied cheerfully. "What brings you to Fandom?"

"Yes that's right!" the little girl said hopping on one leg. "I'm Maia! Oh Azriphale I've seen you so much from the sky, you always seem so nice and your tea always looks so good! And now you're right here!"

"She's come to do some Christmas shopping." Mary explained.

"Why, my dear, thank you! Would you like a cup?"

He produced a teacup from the pocket of his coat, and poured Maia a cup of steaming hot orange spice tea, then offered another to Mary.

"Christmas shopping? James and I just finished wrapping our own presents last night. Who are you getting gifts for?"

"Oh you did? I like James, you two are so cute together when you come to the park. Oh! Tea! Thank you! What a lovely trick! Who am I shopping for? Oh dear there's so many! There's Father, and Mother, Electra, Taygete, Alcyone, Celaeno, Sterope, and Merope, and Orion, and ... I think that's it actually."

"Well, that's quite a list all in itself. I imagine you'll be busy, shopping for all those people," Aziraphale replied.

He reached back into his pocket and pulled out a candy cane. "Normally I give out butterscotches, but since it is the holiday season...Would you like one?"

Maia squees just a little.

"Oh thank you! I'll save this for Merope, she's the baby you know."

"I'm certain she'll be pleased that you brought her back a treat," Aziraphale replied, chuckling softly at Maia's response. "How long do you plan to be staying with us, my dear?"

"Oh, I'm afraid I don't have very long to stay." Maia said sipping her tea. "Neither to you huh Mary Poppins?"

"We can talk about that later. We should get to shopping."

Aziraphale gave Mary a questioning look, but caught onto the fact that she probably didn't care to discuss the topic at the moment. So he simply smiled at them both.

"Well, it's been really a pleasure seeing you, Maia, and you, Miss Poppins. I hope you both enjoy your shopping, and the beautiful winter weather we're having."

Mary nodded to Aziraphale while Maia chattered away.

"Oh thank you very much! Byee!" and she started to flounce off in the direction of the Music store.

The Doctor nodded to Aziraphale as he strolled through the park.

"Hello there," he said.

"Good day, Doctor," Aziraphale replied cheerfully, shaking a bit of snow from his hair. "Are you enjoying the delightful weather?"

"Looks as if we won't simply be dreaming of a White Christmas," the Doctor said. "Rather fantastic weather, I agree."

"Wouldn't be the same without a bit of snow," Aziraphale replied, smiling. "I've got tea, if you'd like a cup to warm you up a bit."

"Perfectly warm, me," the Doctor said. "But I'll happily accept a cup."

Pouring out a cup of tea for the Doctor, Aziraphale brushed the snow off his bench and motioned for the man to sit down if he wanted.

"I've got my very last Prophecy class tomorrow," he said with a little sigh. "It'll be sad, I think. I'll miss my students."

"I've my last Constant Vigilance class tommorow," the Doctor said. "And I feel rather likewise. Good students. All of them."

Aziraphale nodded his agreement. "Quite. Terribly easy to get attached to them. Perhaps they'll all be enrolled next term, though, so we'll still get to see them now and then. Really, it's amazing how this place manages to get under your skin."

"Almost grounds you," the Doctor said. "Of all the places I've been to in this universe, Fandom... is the only place I could actually see myself settling down in."

"I know exactly what you mean." Aziraphale smiled over his tea. "In fact, James and I have already decided to stay here for at least the next few years. After all, I spent a long time living in my little shop in London, so there's really no difference if we make this our home base for a while instead."

"Excellent news," the Doctor said, happily. "A good place for a home, absolutely. Barring the occassional invasion."

"Oh, well...I suppose I can put up with the occasional invasion, when the trade-off is having something like a family."

Aziraphale quirked an eyebrow at the Doctor. "How are things with you on that front, by the way?"
