The Park, Tuesday Afternoon

The Doctor was sitting on a bench, wearing the leather jacket Jane had given him, in order to break it in a bit. He'd fiddled with it during the night, as the pockets were not adequate as they were, given that they were the same size on the inside as they were on the out.

That was now fixed.

He was eating from a small paper bag of roasted chesnuts, and was humming 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.

It was still only the second day of it, after all.

Daisy had wandered out into the park to enjoy the post-Holiday afternoon. "Well, hello, Doctor."

"Well there you are, Daisy," the Doctor said. "I have something for you, actually. Meant to give it to you yesterday, but you didn't show up at that lovely Christmas party."

"I had business off the island, I'm afraid." There really were a lot of deaths that happened on Christmas. . . . "But I'm always willing to accept gifts. . . "

The Doctor pulled a package that very impossibly could have fit in there out of his pocket.

He held it out for her.

The funny part was that the gift inside (http://shimmerandstone.stores.yahoo.net/diamond-flower-pendant2.html) was rather small, so the package size wasn't neccessary.

He just like showing off.

Daisy did little more than raise an eyebrow at the feats of physical impossibility.

She lived in the TARDIS, after all.

"Diamonds! Oh, Doctor, I'd say you shouldn't have, but that would be a lie."

The Doctor chuckled and smiled. "Diamonds are a girl's best friend, after all."

"That's what the song says. And if it's in a song, it must be true."

"So you think Eric Clapton has actually commited sherrifcide?" the Doctor joked.

"Oh, certainly. My former boss was the poor man's reaper."

"I see," the Doctor said. "Did he really not shoot the deputy?"

"Of course he didn't. Someone else did that. Possibly his drummer." Daisy smiled and reached into her handbag. "I actually have something for you, as well, Doctor." She pulled out a rather startlingly complex, albeit unwrapped lego kit.

"Oh, very nice," the Doctor said. "Thank you, Daisy." He smiled. "Seen so little of you, lately. I've missed you."

"You could not imagine how difficult it is to set up a murder mystery for a class full of students."

"I suppose I do not," the Doctor said. "Do you have business today? Or can you sit and join me?"

"there's to be an accident this evening over on the Isle of Ikea due to post holiday rush shoppers, but I have some time."

The Doctor offered some of his nuts to Daisy. "The most wonderful time of the year. If you ignore things, of course."

"Well, it's certainly a busy time of year." Daisy took a handful of the Doctor's nuts and popped them slowly into her mouth. "Very little time to relax and enjoy the season."

"There's always time to enjoy the season," the Doctor said. "Especially when you know someone with a time machine."

"You know, Doctor, I've heard quite a bit about this time machine of yours, but I have yet to see it in action."

"We'll have to change that," the Doctor said. "Take a whirlwind trip somewhere. A genuine holiday during the holidays. Somewhere... special. You, me, and Jane."

The 'and Jane' might have caused Daisy's smile to grow ever so slightly stiff for the smallest of moments, but it returned to its usual easy grace swiftly enough. "That sounds like a fabulous idea, Doctor."

The Doctor wasn't The Doctor if he didn't notice the little things.

"Or just you and I, if you'd prefer. She'd not even know we were gone."

"Please, Doctor. I am not one to leave out a friend. We'll just have to encourage her to leave her liquor at home, that's all."

"The real question is where to go," the Doctor said.

"Well, I'm certain you know far more about that than I do."
