There was a CD on repeat in the store. Not all of the songs were strictly appropriate for being played where small children could hear.

Were there small children in Fandom? Teddy had yet to see one.

He wasn't doing any work today, just lazing about and occasionally grinning when certain songs popped up.

Sparky's is open for your after-Christmas returning needs.

Cally walked into Sparky Repairs that afternoon with a cardboard box and a somber expression.

"I think we might need to hold a memorial service," she said.

Teddy stopped leaning against the counter and tried to look into the box Cally was holding.

"What's wrong?"

"I have boxed a dead toaster," Cally said. "I don't think there's any hope for it."

"Well you came to the right place," Teddy said, reaching for the box. "I fix a mean toaster."

"Good," Cally said. "Cause it's one of the things that I just can't do."

After taking the toaster out and not seeing anything obvious that was wrong with it, Teddy began to take the cover off.

"Any reason for the lack of toaster knowledge?"

"Guess how this one broke," Cally said, cryptically.

Teddy looked up for the toaster. "Um... you dropped it?"

"I touched it," Cally said. "That's it. Toasters die around me. I am a toaster killer. It's like my super power. Except it's a really sucky super power."

"Seriously?" He poked at the toaster's insides. "What about toaster ovens, kill those too?"

"Just your standard toasters," Cally said with a shrug. "Dunno why."

Teddy tilted his head to the side. "Then why own one?"

"This is from the second floor common room," Cally said. "Not my toaster."

"Oh," Teddy said, tweaking one of the curcuits in the toaster and putting the case back on it. "Um, that should work, barring any super-powers on your part."

He pushed the lever on the otaster down for a test run.

Cally took a step back.

"Maybe I shouldn't be the one to take it back to the dorms."

And it worked!

Teddy laughed. "I can drop it off after work if you want."

"Thanks," Cally said. "What do I owe you?"

"No charge," Teddy said, waving off her offer to pay. "There really wasn't anything wrong with it."

"Oh, sure," Cally said. "It just hates me. How reassuring."

Teddy gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "That's okay, I still like you."

Cally smiled. "Thanks again," she said. "And happy Boxing Day! I gotta get going, though."

Putting the Cally-Hating-toaster away, Teddy waved goodbye. "Happy Boxing Day to you too."
