Apu has posted a large sign out front.

BACK TO SCHOOL SALE!

There isn't any info on what is on sale (if anything) or two whom, or for how much...

But there you are.

Jane had always thought men were odd creatures.

All and Sundries is kind of like Walmart. If you're looking for something, we probably have it. Unless it's very exotic, then we would have to special order it.

Apu is always around and if you just "mod" him that's what he's for. Though I do play him on occasion when I'm bored.

Cassie wandered in during the afternoon, and approached Jane.

"Help wanted?" she said.

Turtle was scoping out the town when she noticed a little sign out front that caught her attention.

"Hi," she said as she came up to the counter. "I want a job."

"Yes, it surely is." Jane said looking up from a penny-dreadful about the OK Corral.

"Hello. I'd like to give you a job. Name's Jane Canary. And you are?"

"Turtle Wexler," she offered her hand for a very firm and professional handshake. "Pleasure to be employed at such a fine establishment."

This seemed to have been a lot easier than she thought. Not that she was complaining. A quick, smooth business transaction was always the best.

"Well, I need a job," Cassie said. Because she'd refused an allowance from Mr. Stark. "So.. maybe I can work here?"

"Proud to meet you Turtle." Jane wondered if she was going to have to fine herself for cursing around her employees now...

"That there by the Squishy Machine is Apu, he's your manager. That shiny dog o'er there is Lizzy. She's the security... Don't... I suggest you not reach into that there tank."

, came a little voice from the clear gelatinous cube in a tank behind the counter.

Jane sighed.

"I got somebody for Tuesdays already... What day or days can ya work?"

"I'd say you definitely could work here. If ya don't have experience working a store that's alright, Apu there is your manager and he can show you the ropes. I lost my only employee recently, worked on Tuesdays. Can you do Tuesdays?"

"I can do Tuesdays," Cassie said. "Ummm, after 10, though. I'm hoping I have a class until then."

Turtle's took in each of the pointed out details carefully; her head tilted slightly at the tank. Kinda...ew. Yeah. She wondered if it had to stay on the counter when she was working.

"Well, weekends are going to be best. I can pull a Thursday, but I'll need a wee bit of a break for a class. Wednesday could be workable in the same respect."

Jane nodded.

"Apu can open up the store if that's the case. As long as you come on down after your schoolin' and don't try to lift anything everything'll work out."

"We're closed on Sundays normally. So Saturday is the only weekend day that I'd need you in. And a break for class on a weekday is doable, Apu can watch the store by hisself while you're attending to your studies."

"I can lift things," Cassie said. "I'm stronger than I look. And if you need someone to reach the tall shelves, I can do that too."

"Wednesdays and Thursdays would be fantastic, then," Turtle concluded after a moment. She straightened her shoulders to keep herself from bouncing with excitement.

"... I meant steal from the shop, but it's good to know you can move boxes around." Jane smiled.

"Great. You can start tomorrow. If you'd like to hang around and get an idea how the place is set up. Go right ahead."

"Oh, I wouldn't steal," Cassie said. "Never ever, ma'am."

"Good to know! Welcome to All and Sundries."

"That sounds good," Turtle nodded, smiling a bit, and taking a slight look around. "Sticking around might be good. Could I maybe get one of those Squishies while I check things out? At an employee discount?"

"Employee discount on Squishies is free." Jane grinned. "Just please try to leave some for the fucking customers."

Oops... I owe her a penny.

Turtle arched an eyebrow as she looked over the Squishie machine, and then looked at herself a bit. "I'm thirsty," she said, "but not that thirsty."

"Glad to hear it."

"Thank you for having me," Cassie said.

Sucking on the end of the straw for her Code Red and employee-free Squishie (Squishies were so much better when they were free), Turtle decided she should get to know the oddly cute but also unsettling security robot dog. "Hey, there, girl," she said, awkwardly petting her head. Not quite like a real dog, but the light up tail was pretty cute.

Lizzy barked a tinny robo-bark while the light on the end of her tail blinked rapidly.

She trotted up to Turtle.

Okay, yeah. This was officially gonna be one of the coolest jobs ever. Assuming it will be profitable. But, even if it wasn't, this security system might make up for it. Turtle was starting to ponder what sort of treats one gave to a robotic dog. Maybe she'll work on an oil-based pet food.

Oooh, a girl with a braid! The other girl had two braids, but Lizzy knew what girls with any number of braids liked.

She sat and then offered a paw to shake.

*BARK BARK*

"Oh, you're a clever robot dog, too, aren't ya, Liz?" Turtle said with a bright smile, straightening her shoulders and giving Lizzy an exaggerated version of her very serious handshake. "Then again, figures you would, being a robot. Probably got a pretty good chip in there."

Turtle? Thinking of maybe during a slow shift, cracking open Lizzy's head and having a peek? Not at alllllll. Don't be silly.
