Thurs. Morning - 1/4 - The Park

Clad in her all black jogging suit, Annette set out for the park, knowing that an early morning run would clear her head (and another bad dream, this one about Alec with sharp claws and teeth, chasing her, growling something or other about her virtue. It was hard to tell what he was saying exactly because his tongue kept getting in the way of his long sharp teeth. But she thought the whole virtue thing stemmed from Bel, and what he said about Alec) and wake her up good enough to face whatever she might encounter for the day.

Besides, she needed to work off all those pancakes she and Pippi made yesterday morning. She could get addicted to those things. How easy was it to pour water in a bottle, shake, and pour? Her mouth watered; she had to forget about pancakes.

As she ran, she considered the vampire's Pip had mentioned. Since it was turning light outside, she didn't think she would run into any. Now, a vampire hunter might be kind of cool to meet. Just like an ex-demon. Who knew?

Annette turned up the volume on her ipod, she loved! this song by Rob Thomas, and began singing while she ran. It was a little loud, her singing, and it wasn't exactly in key. But who cares? She certainly couldn't hear herself.

Tori had decided to get up and explore the park. She wanted to map out a spot that she could use to train. A nice grassy spot would do.

It was somewhat early, so she hadn't expected many people to be out and about. It was a bit chilly, but not terribly cold, so Tori was content in her workout suit (http://www.belikoff.com/images/clothing/track.jpg).

Seeing one other girl out and about, Tori smiled to herself as she heard her singing. It seemed as though she was enjoying herself and Tori admired that.

Annette continued to jog along, decidedly content in her own little world of ipod hit tunes and out of key singing, when she spotted another early riser just up ahead.

Slowing down, she thought to say 'hey', and pulled the ear pieces from her ears and let them dangle over her shoulders. She jogged in place, smiling while her breath evaporated in quick, short clouds of hazy fog around her.

"Good morning!"

"Morning." Tori answered cheerfully. "Hope I didn't startle you." She had been walking about, still attempting to find her spot.

So far, she hadn't come up with anything, but then again, she could manage to train anywhere in the park.

"Nope, not at all. I'm Annette Hargrove and new as new can be." She grinned, keeping her hands moving.

Noticing the other girl's attire, Annette asked, "You work out in the morning's too? I used to run every morning; going to try and get back in the habit."

Tori smiled, relieved. "Good. I'm Tori, new as well."

She nodded, "I'm trying to get back into waking up and training, yeah. Hopefully, it'll come as a second nature soon."

"Ah, are you experiencing the whole World of Make Believe too?" Annette gave her a lopsided grin. "I pinch myself every night before I go to bed."

"Do you train specifically for something?"

"I am." Tori laughed, nodding. "I know the feeling."

She nodded. "I practice martial arts." It was an honest answer, she just didn't mention that it was specifically the ways of the ninja.

"I'm hoping to meet one of those vampire hunters soon. You know, just to add it to my ever growing list of things I never knew existed." She laughed and shrugged her shoulders.

"Oh! That's great. I met a ninja yesterday. His name was Kabuto." Annette nodded, brows raised. "He uh, did a little demo for me."

"A vampire hunter, wow." Tori had yet to meet one of those. She smiled, amused. "Yeah, that's what happens around here apparently. You meet people that you thought could only exist in comic books and the like."

She grinned sheepishly. "Thanks. A ninja? Neat." Tori nodded. A fellow ninja, Kabuto; she'd have to meet him.

"No kidding. Do you know," she quit jogging in place and lowered her voice even though there wasn't another soul in sight yet. "My big brother has cat DNA in him." She nodded once. "That is a first for me."

Annette smiled. "A medical one. Though to be honest, I am so not sure about different types. All he did was lay his hand on my shoulder and I, uh, lost my motor skills for a few minutes."

"Whoa." Tori hadn't known anyone to be part animal, unless you counted the time Sensei was turned into a guinea pig. "I've never heard of something like that before."

Tori raised an eyebrow. "A medical ninja?" That was a first for her. "I never knew ninjas to be classified as medical. He must have some power then."

"Me either. Other than having a hot body and being extremely fast, he has given me no proof of it yet." Which she planned to rectify, any day now. Sooner than later. Yes, indeed.

Annette twisted her lips. "Well, I wonder if he was just feeding me a line then? Really hard to tell with some people around here." And that's a fact.

Tori shrugged. "Yeah, you can never be too sure with some people." It was hard to admit, but it was the truth. "Then again, I do like to think the best of people, they're telling the truth. But, it's not always the case." She wasn't naive, but she was an optimist.

Annette nodded. "I do too. At least that is how I have always lived. Until I am proven wrong, I like to think most people are sincere."

She took a deep breath and looked around, then back to her. "This place sort of wears on your mind though, you know, and what you believe to be real. But then," she added with a grin. "Things have literally been proven in front of my face."

Tori smiled brightly. She liked this girl, it was easy to get along with her. "It so does, you're not kidding." Tori was slowly getting used to this place, but she had only been here for a couple of days. She laughed. "Yeah, that seems to happen a lot around here." So she'd been told.

Annette chuckled and admitted. "I seem to have this way of getting into everyone's business by planting myself directly in front of them. It's this curious nature of mine. I'm trying to control it, but it's hard." Well, she thought she was trying to control it. She controlled it when she thought about it. Yes. That worked.

She smiled. "And I made a vow last night to myself. I am going to quit asking the H word."

"Ahh, I see." Tori smirked. She then raised an eyebrow. "The H word?"

Annette shrugged. There you have it, her in a nutshell, almost.

"Are you human? I've asked that too many times now. Better to just let people be who they are." She nodded. Learning was part of the whole Fandom High experience for her, in every conceivable aspect.

Tori wouldn't have thought that to be the answer. "Oh, well, that's an appropriate question given our surroundings."

Better to just let people be who they are. She nodded. Her sentiments exactly. "Well, I'm human." Tori smiled, figuring she'd say it, even if Annette didn't have any doubts or wanted to know. She wasn't trying to poke fun or anything like that.

"It is, I think. But really, it's not my intention to offend and some just might take it that way."

Annette laughed. "Thanks, Tori. And as you have most likely surmised, I am human too."

She paused again, thinking Tori was a great girl. She was kind, and sweet, and Annette really thought they would become good friends.

"How's your big fake sibling?"

"Yeah, you're right. Some people will never react the way you expect them to." Tori agreed with Annette.

"You're welcome." She smirked and nodded. "Yep."

Tori grinned at the question. "Oh, Nadia's great. She's been really helpful so far, making sure I'm getting settled in all right. How about yours?"

"That's good. It helps I think to have someone already here help us new students. A great concept."

She grinned wide. "Alec is really cool. He's the one with the cat DNA. When I first met him, he was shirtless. At the lawn party?" She shook her head. "I'm told he has a reputation, but he has been really nice to me so far. Of course, I haven't seen him since the lawn party either."

"It does." Tori nodded, agreeing. "Whoever came up with it, is a genius." She grinned.

"Alec, right." Tori thought back to the lawnparty. "Oh! I remember seeing him. Right." No shirt, cute. "A reputation?" She shrugged. "Well, as long as he's taking care and treating you well, then I guess it doesn't really matter."

She chuckled. "Exactly what I was thinking. And yeah, I doubt many of us girls would miss seeing him. He is a cutie. I'm not about to tell him that though."

"What floor you on? I'm at the top, room 508."

Tori had to agree. "I won't either." She laughed.

"I'm on the third floor, room 304."
