It was possible that the administration had made a grave, grave mistake by leaving Vala in charge of organizing the Parents' Weekend mixer.

About two hours before sundown, a large fleet of trucks drove up, and an army of workers began setting up refreshments, a dance floor, and began scattering pillows on the ground around low tables. It was probably best not to ask how the workers were going to be paid, but they seemed happy enough as they worked.

A number of paintings that looked very, very much like they were painted by famous artists were hanging from the trees and spotlighted by citronella candles. Statues were also placed artistically on tables near the food. It was probably best not to ask from whence the artwork had come, either. Or whether it was real or a forgery.

Naturally there were discrete price tags placed on the trees or tables next to the artwork.

Hopefully the parents would feel welcome.

Yesterday's party had been a nice, quiet gathering, mainly because Stan and Gunther were the only ones there beside her. Oh well, at least coming up with today's specials wasn't that hard thanks to all the leftovers.

GOB opened the bar after spending the afternoon watching Space Battles movies. For research.

He was now trying to move shot glasses with his mind.

[OOC: Coincidentally, I've spent all day watching the PT and Clone Wars and then I tried to type this post with my mind.]

Anders had all his Red Sox gear on today, and despite the zombie band's objections foisted some on them as well.

The bass player tried to object that it was hard to play properly while wearing a giant red foam finger, but objection was difficult with deteriorated vocal cords.

Of course, five minutes later when Anders had to tape his hand back on, he relented.

"Geez. Lightweight."

[OOC: Sloooooooow pingage for the next two hours, and then quite possibly no pingage at all until 10PM EST or thereabouts. And after taking an hour and 45 minutes to drive 15 miles, I am home and around. If slightly bitter.]

Having no classes today meant Annette could do whatever she wanted. She'd had a good day yesterday and despite radio last night, she was in a fairly good mood. She actually chuckled at Dick's phone message and even more so at the one that followed. She didn't understand some guys and she was quite certain she hated Johnny Storm now. He was a very bad influence and anyone who heard radio ought to know that. Poor Savannah; she deserved so much better than a flaming harlot who had to talk about other women with taken guys. The nerve.

Anyhow, she was sitting on the sand, a big pile of it in front of her, and she was making a sand castle. Or trying. She's never made one before but Chris read her tea leaves yesterday to her in class, and making a sand castle was one thing she could do to free her mind of niggling thoughts.

Rory had stolen borrowed Vladdie from Anakin as soon as he'd woken up, and decided that after a rousing game of Hey, Let's Stare at Dust followed by an exciting round of Rory Can't Run as Fast as I Can Fly, Hee, it was time for some coffee. Most especially as she had a long drive to make later that evening.

She curled up at a table with her enormous cup, Vladdie tethered to the table and scampering over her feet.

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

[OOC:  Chaperones and Security please ping in as soon as possible.  The second post will be going up in about five hours (or when browsers start to break) but this post is very SP friendly.  PLEASE wait for the OCD is UP and POST IS OPEN]

A series of tents (in various sizes) and covered walkways had sprung up all over the park by midday. There were lots of open spaces, but one could easily get to any part of the carnival without venturing out into the sunlight. Only some of the seating and the big rides - the Ferris wheel, swings, and merry-go-round sat out in the open.

The sounds and smells reached all inhabited parts of the island and it was hard to miss all of the bright colors.

Anakin was in a fantastic mood this evening.

This had absolutely nothing to do with alum who may or may not be arriving tomorrow.

He was out in the park with a ball and hyperactive, flying vampire puppy.

You might have to look twice. Anakin Skywalker was actually laughing.

Creepy.

No matter what the weather was on the mainland, the weather over the Fandom had warmed up to a beautiful spring evening, just perfect for a night of dancing.

A large tent had been set up in the park and it glowed with the soft light of what seemed like a million small white lights. The path leading up to the tent crossed a small bridge and then split, one walkway leading up to the tent, the other leading to the pond where a small dock had been set up. Two gondolas were waiting to take anyone who wished to go on a ride around the pond.

Inside the tent, numerous colorful backdrops made it seem like the students had been transported to Saint Mark's Square. The only thing missing were the pigeons.

Off to one side stood a table with a box for the final votes for the Prom Court.

It was time for Prom 2007.

Anakin was tinkering under the shuttle while he waited for Rose to come up for their weekly lesson that was always supposed to be on Sunday omg rly.

He had a smudge of grease on his nose and was whistling tunelessly to himself.

[OOC: Because timezones are the suck, please to be reporting that Anakin and Rose went off-planet together even if we haven't gotten there yet omg. Thanks!]

Jarod was quiet as he opened the bar and taped the zombies (the drummer wanted to try something new and asked to be taped to the stool and drumsticks), then settled back behind the bar to continue trying to hack Parker's laptop for the information about where she'd gone the day before.

If he looked like he hadn't slept in over twenty-four hours, well, it was because he hadn't.

Millie was up early doing some rearranging and unpacking of new stock for the bookstore. She was terribly excited about being a bookstore owner and even more excited about her first day being open.

She hung a sign in the window saying Under New Management: Come in and Explore and Help Find a New Name and she had tea things set out for anyone who might like a cup of tea or cocoa while they browsed. Proudfoot contented herself with dozing in the window.

She also set out a suggestion box for anyone who might want to leave suggestions for a new name for the store.

The bookstore is open!

Anakin had not had the easiest night, but he'd promised Rose that they'd go flying today, so he was waiting out in front of the apartment building for her to arrive, his cloak pulled close around his body.

[OOC: Anakin's here for Rose, but will be okay chatting to passers-by as he waits.]

New people in town meant new potential customers. Mazikeen was getting the umbrellas out in preparation for more drinking selling.

At least, she hoped there would be more. Otherwise she was left with a surplus of tiny umbrellas which couldn't end well.

Clad in her all black jogging suit, Annette set out for the park, knowing that an early morning run would clear her head (and another bad dream, this one about Alec with sharp claws and teeth, chasing her, growling something or other about her virtue. It was hard to tell what he was saying exactly because his tongue kept getting in the way of his long sharp teeth. But she thought the whole virtue thing stemmed from Bel, and what he said about Alec) and wake her up good enough to face whatever she might encounter for the day.

Besides, she needed to work off all those pancakes she and Pippi made yesterday morning. She could get addicted to those things. How easy was it to pour water in a bottle, shake, and pour? Her mouth watered; she had to forget about pancakes.

As she ran, she considered the vampire's Pip had mentioned. Since it was turning light outside, she didn't think she would run into any. Now, a vampire hunter might be kind of cool to meet. Just like an ex-demon. Who knew?

Annette turned up the volume on her ipod, she loved! this song by Rob Thomas, and began singing while she ran. It was a little loud, her singing, and it wasn't exactly in key. But who cares? She certainly couldn't hear herself.

(ooc: open for any kind of interaction whatsoevahh!)

Jarod whistled as he opened the bar, to the point where the zombies were elbowing each other in a knowing fashion and Tino kept hoping for some good gossip, which he wouldn't get. When it was quiet, Jarod once again worked on his laptop, closing it when he sensed anyone coming close enough to read the screen.

Mum was driving me a bit mad, she was. Thought I'd give this place a go.

I 'spose I should sort out which classes to enroll in. Sod it. I'll wait until Monday. I ought to look for a flat first.

There seems to be a party going on in town somewhere. Perhaps I should meet some of the locals?

Logan's house hasn't managed to aquire much clutter in the few days he's been living there, but there is half of a surfboard on the back deck. (It looks as though something bit it in half, and Logan himself has a bit of a limp, but he's not volunteering any explanations.)

The house is stocked and ready to go. The tiki torches have all been lit. Condoms are discreetly stashed in drawers all over the house, the liquor cabinet has been unlocked (though the really good stuff is hidden in Logan's room), and the kitchen has been filled with food and drink mixables.

The only room locked up is the utility room - one of the roommates has an important project stashed in there.

Logan's heated up the grill, taste-tested some of the alcohol, and now he's in the living room playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
