This was Jeremy's last day at work. Probably for years and years to come, even. Because he hadn't even gotten this job voluntarily, and really didn't see himself as the type who'd work all through college or anything. Because... why? He needed that time for parties, man! He was totally out of the social loop after a couple of years of Maryland island life!

But still, it had been okay while it lasted and there were probably way worse jobs out there than taking care of a fancy clothing store once a week. He was pretty sure there were worse places.

And for his final shift, you could find him wandering around the store, looking ever so slightly wistful.

Another Wednesday, another Demon Marcus shift with Jeremy hard at work.

Well, playing a game on his phone. But he was behind the counter so at least anyone coming in could find him easily.

Hey, whatever, he thought he was allowed some extreme laziness after running around chasing a gremlin all of his shift last week. Demon Marcus was open, and the boy behind the counter was ready to help you out – at least if you came in between levels.

Today at Demon Marcus, there was a Jeremy, and there were clothes... and there was a gremlin running around the store knocking things over and pulling them down. So really the start of that list should have been "there was a Jeremy running around with a broom in his hand, trying to shoo a gremlin out of the store before it got any ideas about biting him".

But that was far less pithy.

Demon Marcus was open, but you entered at your own risk.

In the grand tradition of being really damn oblivious to... actually most things that happened around him, Jeremy had no clue there was anything off about the day before he came to work. And it was only once the same person from two weeks ago called to complain and ask why nothing had been done about their issue that he realized something was up.

Mainly because his answer was, "I don't know, probably 'cause, y'know, I have no idea what I'm actually doing?"

He hung up on the person again pretty swiftly after that. And was pretty convinced the phone was cursed or something.

Soon after Jeremy got to work today, the store phone rang. Not knowing what he was in for, he picked up with a cheery (and highly professional) "Yo, this is Demon Marcus with Jerms at your service, how may I help you?"

What followed was a solid hour's worth of a really confusing rant where Jeremy barely got a word in edgewise, although he was really put in place for his incompetence in... something or other. Really, he tried to ask but he never really got a clear idea of what he and/or the store had supposedly done wrong. He wasn't even sure the person was calling the right place.

Finally, as a kind of a panic reaction, he affected a terrible French accent – even he probably couldn't have told you why – and raised his voice over the person's on the other end of the line to say, "Zere has been a, uh, a magnifique misunderstanding. Zis is not ze storrre you are looking for. Adieu!"

And then he hung up.

He was not going to answer the phone again today.

Well, this was it. Opening night, and Jono had done about all of the running around that he could manage. His props girl had apparently vanished into the ether, his set was mostly painted in a shade of red-with-glitter that meant that he needed to be extremely careful how he lit the bloody thing, he'd drastically shorted himself on rehearsal time, though it seemed as though his cast had stepped up to the occasion and made up for that oversight, and--

Jono looked like he was going to pass out as he made one last check on the state of the stage before opening the house.

-- And there were occasionally waffles raining down from... apparently the catwalks above the stage.

Lovely.

"The show is going to bloody well go on if it kills me," he growled, and then doubled back to grab a broom before going to open the doors.

Today's game of 'let's make work fun for Jeremy' involved picking out some of the stuff that was meant for the less baseline humanoid body shapes, and trying to guess at what someone who it'd actually fit would look like.

Also, trying on stuff like tuxedos with three arms. Because why not, right?

Demon Marcus was open and Jeremy was around to help you! Or at least make you partake in guessing what extra limbs someone would have to have to wear some of the stuff on sale.

Today at Demon Marcus, Jeremy was rearranging some of the shoes. And making up a game relating to the colors and the kinds of heels and what could hgo next to what.

He was also texting his big sister photos of his arrangements. She was texting him back points for style and color coordination. And every so often, a 'Ooooh put aside a pair of those for me, sweetie!' or two. Because the Darlings couldn't look at expensive things without wanting to buy them.

Jeremy was going to end up spending way more money today than all his customers put together had spent during all of his shifts.

Caritas Presents:
3 MINUTE DATES

With less pomp and circumstance than usual, it was time to start the dates right at 8:00. Fandom alum Bruce Wayne strode out onto the stage with some notecards in one hand and a rather festive-looking drink in the other.

"Good evening. Welcome to Caritas, and welcome to Three Minute Dates. If you're in the student group and have been in Fandom at least a year now, there's a fair chance that you already know that I'm Bruce Wayne, because I probably met you on a date at one of these events," Bruce said, giving a small smile and a shrug. "But on the chance that you didn't meet me that way, hi, it's nice to meet you now. I graduated from Fandom High in 2012. Before then, I apparently did so many of these things that when they needed a host, somebody remembered me and figured I was qualified."

"So, clearly, 3 Minute Dates didn't work for me in the long-term. But I had enough fun meeting people and making connections that I came back time after time. I hope all of you have at least that same kind of experience." Bruce took a sip of his drink before placing it on the stool next to him.

"But enough of that. Let's get things started. First things first, let me introduce your Fandom High Gremlins cheerleaders, who have been good enough to cheer everyone on. And, according to my notes, it looks like several of them will even be participating in the dates. Second, the rules are simple. I'll read off the names of the pairings in each round. You'll meet up, talk for three minutes, and then the zombie drummer will hit the gong and we'll move to the next round. After doing this five times, the dates are over and the next round will be at the bar and will be drinks. I'm paying."

"Good luck, everyone!"

There was a dance coming up, as well as Valentine's Day proper, so naturally there were Valentine's Day inspired looks all over the store today to lure in the last-minute shoppers in need of fancy clothes with which to either impress their dates, or snag one in the first place. Demon Marcus didn't judge your date status, they just wanted you to buy something. And Jeremy was even around to help out!

At least whenever he wasn't in the menswear part of the store looking at suits. Mmm, suits. He didnät have a date, either, but he was still wondering if a red suit was something to buy.

Jeremy had totally been here the last two weeks, I don't know what you're talking about was at work, once again. And he kept finding mangos around the store. Among men's suits, in the kids' sock aisle, and on one memorable occasion, in the women's lingerie section.

Demon Marcus was open, and Jeremy was around to help. If you could pry him away from his quest to find all the random fruit around the store.

Jeremy had not really gotten hang of his new schedule yet.

This would explain how Jeremy had come to work on the wrong day. The fact that he was yet to realize that, though? That was all down to Jeremy's often distracted brain. And the probable fact that he was going to comepletely fail realizing he'd accidentally switched days, and would keep on coming back on Wednesdays for the foreseeable future? It was best not to talk about it.

Or how long it would take for him to realize he was under new management.

Demon Marcus was open! It would be best not to ask the dapperly dressed boy behind the counter what day it was.

Jeremy was at work, probably for the last time this year.

And even now, he wasn't actually doing a whole lot of work. He was mostly boggling at whoever had come by and changed all the lights in the store into Christmas lights. (Yes, he still thought it might be someone and not the island itself. He had lapses into extreme dumbness, okay.) He was also spending a lot of time in the menswear section.

Had to find something extra spiffy to wear to the family Christmas dinner!

Demon Marcus wasn't all black and white this week! Nope, the theme seemed to be more along the lines of red and green – at least judging by the new shipment of clothing Jeremy was unpacking and putting on display today. He wasn't sure about whether he liked some people's insistance of wearing those colors for Christmas, to be honest.

There was also a very persistent bit of mistletoe that seemed to be following him around the store. Occasionally, he pouted at it. It needed to stop reminding him he wasn't making out with anyone right now.

Jeremy was perfectly on time for work today after class.

He was also a little nervous around all the fancy clothes, because he was just a good, honest, slightly socially awkward boy who didn't really know much about fashion. So, he wasn't going to be touching much of the merchandise, and some of it still left him a little wide-eyed, because wow.

But you could count on him doing his very best to help any shoppers coming in!

Jeremy had had Gangnam Style stuck in his head for... well, it was probably weeks now, off and on. You know, like half the world. But everyone else included in that half of the planet's population were probably not currently trying to do the horse dance all around their current place of employment.

And Jeremy was. What? He was bored!

Yup. Considering he'd slept through his shift last week, it was entirely possible that maybe he'd stopped being afraid of Callie showing up during his shifts at some point. Maybe. And it was producing ridiculpus results because he was nowhere near being a responsible an mature human being. But at least he was getting a rare bit of exercise?

Busy career woman Juliet L. Darling rested her fingertips on her Chanel-covered 39-week baby bump as she tapped swiftly away at her iPad. A flax-acai berry muffin and a soy decaf latte rested on the table before her, but she wasn't eating or drinking. She needed to finalize Darling Incorporated's hostile purchase of land on a small but crucial island nation before she went into labor, and that was taking all her concentration.

A calendar reminder marked as urgent flashed across her iPad screen, and Juliet cursed when she read it. She kept forgetting to find her baby's father; she should probably make time to do that in the next day or so, too.

It was so hard to be a glamorous, hard-working, yet fabulously wealthy single mom to be.

Would you look at that? Jeremy was actually managing to take Stacey out on a date! Maybe it was just easier to achieve on Fandom than in Africa, or maybe Jeremy was just a little less likely to randomly wander off the island than he was to fail to travel to distant continents. Whatever the reason, he'd been successful in going to pick Stacey up (with three red roses for her, no less!) and whisking her to the theater where cinematic pleasures awaited them!

... Or at least successful horror movie franchises. Regardless, they still had one hurdle to pass before making it to the theater, and that was the concessions stand.

"Popcorn, soda, chocolate? Whatever you want, totally my treat."

Jeremy, stop trying to kill your date.

It was a pretty happy Jeremy that showed up to work today (on time, even). His birthday party had been fun, there was a field trip into space coming up (which he was treating like an extra birthday present), and he had a date next week. Yup, things were pretty nice all around.

So Jeremy's work shift found him going around the store making sure everything was in order, and looking for something nice to wear on Monday. Or to space.

Look, he just liked clothes.

The Darling twins were turning eighteen today, and thus crossing the threshold into legal adulthood. While that may have been a terrifying thought to some, it also meant that there was going to be a huge freaking party because they were Darlings and no special occasion could get past them without a huge deal being made out of it. So after sundown on this Wednesday evening, there was a huge banner set up in a corner of the park:

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY, JULIET & JEREMY!

And underneath the banner were party tents set up with outdoor heaters and lights, for comfort and atmosphere. There were tables decked with food (including a huge, ridiculous cake) and drink (you were going to have to be an adult or filthy rich to get anything alcoholic, though), of course, and there was and music, and even a karaoke set-up should the mood strike anyone to sing.

It all looked like someone had paid a whole lot of money to make it all happen, and that was before you took in the table with the gift bags. No, not for the twins, though there was a table for any gifts people might bring them as well. No, these gift bags were for the guests. Yes, you were getting gifts just out of attending someone else's birthday party. That was how they rolled – and it was possible Letitia had realized the twins weren't perfectly integrated into the island community. The Darlings weren't above bribery and gaining people's affections with expensive trinkets.

The park was ready for a good time to be had by all! (And since invitation emails had gone out to the entire population of the island as well as few alumni... that really did mean all.)

In the week Jeremy had spent back home in New York (because he was as ditzy as his sister, and they'd both missed going on the school trip as a result), Jeremy had almost forgotten he had a job. Almost. Not entirely!

Okay he was still about fifteen minutes late getting to work today. And once he did, he was immediately drawn to the back of the store by a  random noise. He made it there just in time to see a gremlin scurrying off... with a tasteful muted teal dress.

No, he did not go after it. Even Jeremy Darling knew better, as hard as that may have been to believe. So he was going around the store now, trying to find a match for the kind of dress he thought he'd seen, so he could check the price to see how much money he should put in the register for it. Because he'd rather just pay for it than deal with Callie about stolen goods.

with your host Yakko Warner

With a blare of trumpets signalling 8:00 PM, Yakko strode out onto the stage. "Welcome one, welcome all, to 3 Minute Dates here at Caritas. The normal guy couldn't be here tonight because who cares, so you're stuck with me. I know what you're thinking. 'Who signed me up for this anyway?' I was wondering the same thing myself, but I've learned not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Isn't that right, Stanley?" A horse wearing braces on his teeth and a present bow on his saddle came out onto the stage. Yakko held a hand up to stage whisper, "He's self-conscious about it."

"Anyway, without further ado," Yakko started.

"Bless you," Stanley said.

"Thank you, Stanley, let's get this started! When I honk this horn," Yakko said, honking a very comedic sounding horn, "We'll get started with the first round. Every time I honk it after that," Yakko said, squeezing the horn and having the 'crash and burn' noise come out of the horn, "your three minutes are up and it'll be time to move on. And just to make sure you're really on your toes with this timing thing...."

Yakko pulled the stage's curtain aside to show a big white disc standing up. Yakko jumped onto the disc and started using his hands as a minute and second hand on a clock.

And then, with the sound of a donkey braying, Yakko hit the horn. "Good luck!"

It was Thursday, so Jeremy was at Demon Marcus. It might not have seemed like much to most people, but for someone as scatterbrained as Jeremy?  It was kind of amazing that he managed to come in most weeks. As was evident from how he'd forgotten about Apathy Club last week. Good thing the whole basis of the club was to be apathetic towards things. Sometimes that had to include the club itself, right?

Those were the thoughts Jeremy was having as he wandered around the store today, anyway, straightening up displays and making sure not to walk into anything this week.

There were clothes, and there was a Jeremy. Just going around, surveying his kingdom. Or Callie's kingdom, but Callie wasn't here right now, so, while the Darling name might not have been plastered all over the building, he was still in charge here. So, he was walking around feeling calm and glad enough to be here. He wasn't sure his parents would be impressed with the name of the store, but he was still actually considering showing this place off to his mother once she came visiting.

Of course, while he was thinking about that, he lost track of where he was going, and walked straight into a display of some odd interdimensional footwear, and knocked the whole thing over.

"Oh crap."

Yeah, he'd be spending a good chunk of his shift getting that back together again so that it wouldn't affect his performance review.

Jeremy had finally discovered the burn barrel in the back room.

He was not entirely sure how he felt about it, lacking some of the other employees' natural taste for pyromania. So, he was going to spend the entire day thinking on whether he thought it was okay to burn clothes just because they were hideous. Such an ethical dilemma!

Or, he was going to stumble onto some new Ferragamo stock while he was in the back, and forget all about burning things while he lazily got to work on getting those on display. That was what actually happened.

Today, Jeremy was not hidden away anywhere toward the back of the store. No, he and his smart suit were actually pretty near the main entrance.

... Sitting on the floor, playing with a couple of puppies. If anyone came in and asked about it, he was going to say he was making sure they didn't chew on any of the merchandise or anything. But really, it was just because they were cute. And made him miss Midas a little bit.

And he was failry confident in his ability to get up and look somewhat respectable quickly enough, in case Callie happened to come by.

With one successful enough shift behind him, Jeremy was slightly less scared to be at work this week. He was still kind of camping out in the fancy menswear section, though. But this time, it was because he'd finally realized just how diverse the selection was.

Yeah, he was going to be spending the entire day guessing at the different shapes of the people and/or things who were supposed to be wearing this stuff. For instance, figuring out that some holes in the backs of coats were meant for wings wasn't hard, but seriously, he'd found a jacket with only one sleeve. On the back.

He was of course also prepared to help people, if anyone came along to do a bit of shopping.

Jeremy Darling had a job. A job he had been scared into so thoroughly that he actually felt a little afraid for the state of his annual performance review.

No, it didn't make sense. Yes, the fear was still very real.

So if anyone needed him during his first real shift (not counting last week, when he'd had to clean up after those two chicks who'd fought some dogs in the store or something), he was just going to be over here in the expensive menswear section with Hugo Boss and Ferragamo and all his other friends, okay? It was where he felt the safest.
[identity profile] boobs-and-evil.livejournal.com
Okay, so maybe Callie didn't bother opening her store all that often. She'd been busy trying to encourage young teenagers to sin more. Plus, she had a couple of employees, ones that she might even recognize if she saw them face-to-face.

She should really get more of those. Minions could be so useful.

Demon Marcus was open for business, and its owner could be found investigating the new Christian Louboutin pumps that had come in. Why even run a store if you couldn't use it as your own personal closet?

Demon Marcus, Thursday

Another week, another productive day of work for Jeremy at Demon Marcus!

At least if your definition of a productive day of work (like Jeremy's definition thereof) involved shuffling around a clothing store all day, waiting for people to come in with reports of any traitor scuffles in town so he could... take said reports back to the castle, probably? He wasn't really sure, because no one tended to come in to report anything that much. And he was fine with that. It meant he could just chill and inspect the clothing stock to see that they were all up to Umbridgean standards. And if today, that meant spending most of his day in the section with men's suits, well, it was just his lucky day, wasn't it?

It was entirely possible that he'd been tasked with this simply because it kept him out of the way of the loyalists who were doing actually productive things.

Notices had gone out to all and sundry, inviting both those who still lived on the island as well as those who'd moved away to come back for a dance at the Fandom Town community center, in celebration of the 43rd (give or take a day) anniversary of the original moon landing, as well as the wonderful summer they were having.

Once people arrived, they'd find the community center's auditorium decorated according to the theme of the evening. Silver streamers hung all around, and a few papier mache moons had been fixed to the ceiling. The lights were dimmed, and there were flowers – most white, but some of them colored silver – on all the tables, bringing the faint scent of summer with them.

And naturally, there were big tables full of food, like at any large Fandom gathering. There was also a bar, though those underage would have to content themselves with sodas and virgin drinks. Maybe they could get over their sorrow over that on the dance floor, showing off their best Moonwalk.

Everything was ready for the people of Fandom to have a good time.

Well, the rehearsals had been short, but Jono hadn't been too concerned by that, seeing as reality had been swallowed up the last time they did a showcase here, and people had gone onstage and had performed excellent pieces in spite of the trauma. What he had been concerned about was his own capacity to get everything done, but the programs were printed and there were light refreshments thanks to Raven, and the stage had been decorated to portray key areas of the island, displaying varying degrees of Fandom's weirdness.

The community center had been decorated (glitterified), the models were probably backstage by now either looking fabulous or questioning their life choices, and once everyone was ready there were two emcees taking the stage.

Rilla was still not wild about public speaking when it wasn’t over the radio (there, no one could stare at her), and so she said a quick prayer that she wouldn’t lisp too terribly. The poor starving Belgians were counting on her efforts here!

“Hello,” she said with a tight, nervous smile, “and welcome to the first annual--” things sounded better when they could become annual events, right? “--Kappa Delta Gremlin Fashion Show!”

After waiting for any applause- and there had better be applause, it was only polite- Annie continued, "Tonight you're going to see members of the sorority, fraternity and Pride show off some fashions, and help raise money for the Red Cross to help people all the way back in 1915!" Which probably wasn't going to create some weird time paradox, right? They were being helpful. And retro. Retro-ly helpful.

Rilla waited for that applause to die down before concluding, “And tho--” bad word. BAD WORDS THAT RILLA DIDN’T EVEN THINK FOR THE POORLY TIMED LISPING RIGHT NOW, GOD, “--without further ado,” or any other words with s, if she could help it, “our first model!”

There was no bouncer at the entrance to the Community Center, all the better for any underclassmen to sneak into the night's festivities and pray that their own official final dance in Fandom would be half so...red. To be technical, the shade was rust.

Thankfully to the more practical among the StuCo Prom Committee, the Mars theme lended itself to plenty of starry twinkle lights and a decadant foggy mist rising from the dance floor that might just help the chaperones in their quest to look the other way when students got too handsy. That was really all that mattered at an event like this. Well, other than the food on hand and the ability for the punch to merge well with whatever spirits were 'accidentally' dropped into over the course of the evening.

For this was a night to be remembered! Even if all that stuck in the memories of the students was the terrifying spacemen floating around the giant papier mache Mars that dangled in place of a disco ball over the dance floor. Or perhaps it would be the fantastic flavor of the fiery fountain of cherry pie filling. Fake fire, of course, but the filling? Totally real and delicious. Even if it looked a little too much like fiery blood for some people.

Welcome to your 2012 Fandom High Senior Prom!

It was that time of the year again: spring break, with its travels to far away and exotic locales! Like Brazil.

Teachers and students had been asked to assemble at the causeway as per usual. Their portal would be leaving early on into the afternoon, so there was plenty of time to pack up your things and hurry on down to catch it.

So, the question remained: was everyone ready for some fun in the sun? Or was there still too much bodyswappy freaking out to be done?

Stay tuned.

Phil Keoghan strode down the beach as the waves crashed magestically against the rocks behind him.

"Welcome to Fandom, Maryland," he said, "the fifth leg in a race around the world for $50,000. Our some number of teams are currently sleeping off their 37 hour flights from Windhoek, Namibia and are totally suffering from killer fatigue." He arched an eyebrow toward the non-existent cameras. "This............is the Amazing Race."

During the afternoon, workers had built up a large firepit in the center of the park. Smaller ones were built a short distance away from it, just to make sure nobody froze during the festivities.

There was ice on the pond, thick ice, and someone had set up a small booth alongside it renting out skates for the night. Closer to the bonfire, there was a buffet, partly already cooked (and with cocoa, too!), partly set up with raw meat, fish, marshmallows and vegetables for the more enterprising crowd who might want to roast something over one of the fires.

Lights hung in the trees, and the fires blared merrily. Fandom was ready for the changing of the years, and all were welcome.

Jonothon had managed to get his hands on coffee, this morning. Instant coffee, granted, that he'd thrown together while trying to juggle breakfast (cereal, quick and easy) and getting everything in order for ... whatever the hell these auditions were going to be like, considering the state of the weekend. He hadn't actually gotten around to getting any of it as far as his mouth, yet, but he suspected that he'd made the coffee strong enough to sit up and bark, and if that didn't floor him, it would probably be a good thing.

In the window of the Boards, he'd hung a sign:

AUDITIONS
FANDOM ISLAND WINTER SHOWCASE
Give the rest of the island a taste of your winter traditions from home!

And, hell, he'd even managed to get someone at Pizza Planet to answer the phone who was over the age of ten, so there was pizza set out on tables on one side of the lobby area. Tables which he'd laid tarp down under, because there was no way in hell he was going to clean those carpets already. The place had just finished renovations, after all.

[OCD is up! If you've got a small child for the day and you'd like to audition, anyone and everyone is welcome to, but please let us know in the OOC thread if you actually want a role or not!]

The hotel's staff had never worked a Darling birthday party before. By the time Juliet was done working them over and making sure everything looked right and sounded right and was almost as good as it would have been in New York, it was entirely possible they never would again. Still, the room looked amazing, so Juliet figured it was worth it.

The ballroom had been set up for a party, with a DJ booth to the side of the stage where Hannah Montana was scheduled to perform, a dance floor taking up most of the center of the room, and a few tables and chairs off to the side for wallflowers. Most of the drinks available were non-alcoholic, but there was probably some champagne around if you asked nicely or bribed the bartender. A gold -and-silver banner hung over the stage:

Happy 17th Jeremy & Juliet!

(And yes, there'd been some spirited discussion as to whose name went first. Alphabetical order carried the day.) A completely handwavy email had been sent out days before inviting the student body to the party; now all that was left was to wait for the guests.

As was traditional, the start of the end of Parents' Weekend featured plenty of food, benches, chairs, and coffee in the park. After all, the Student Council couldn't let the parents be weirded out one last time without a feast.

The sky was a little overcast, but the temperatures were still above normal, which was a lucky break for the final day of the weekend.

It had taken some time, but everything was set. The community center had been tatefully decorated and looked nice and welcoming, the stage was set, all the technical kinks had been worked out, there were refreshments set out for after the show, and things were finally ready. Now all that was needed were the guests and the talent.

Come one, come all! Grab a seat, and check out all the talent Fandom has to offer!

Once the dates were over, GOB made his way back toward the bar and started bossing Tino around, just like old times. "Okay, let's show everyone how a real pro tends bar. Tino! Get me another scotch!" Yep. A real pro made Tino do all the work. These were tricks you never forgot, even years after leaving the bar business.

[OOC: For your post-3MD conversations and/or hookups or whatever! Or for people who were just waiting until after the dates to get a damn beer!]

A sign was posted at the front door:
G.O.B. Bluth Presents:
Three Minute Dates at Caritas
hosted by A Matchmaker Named G.O.B.

That's right. It was time for Three Minute Dates once again. Of course, this time it was being pushed back a couple hours because GOB just posted bail in Lexington Park for solicitation last night so it could better help sunlight-adverse residents of Fandom find true love as well. Anyone who came to the bar at the normal time were free to keep drinking to help them loosen up for the dates until just before 8:00...

The lights went dark. And then, The Final Countdown began, with a spot-lit GOB striding out onto the stage and doing an illusion where he made Tino bring him a scotch. Look, he'd done like twenty of these things already. People weren't getting free magic from him anymore.

"Thank you, everyone, for coming out here on this historic night. We've reached a true milestone here, but more on that later," GOB said. It would be best to fear Round 5, where there would be a couple extra minutes for GOB to discuss the historic nature of the night. "This is, of course, Three Minute Dates. And I am, of course, a Matchmaker Named GOB." He waited for applause..... and then continued. "When I or somebody else, probably Tino, who knows? calls your name, find a table with the other person whose name was called and get to talking and see if you want to make babies within three minutes. Because after three minutes, you'll hear this sound."

The zombie drummer started doing a drum roll.

"And that's when it'll be time to move on to your next date. Got it? Good. Oh, and sorry about the surplus of adult guys. Apparently single chicks can't stand being in a town without me. Anyway, let's get started...."

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

Epic OCD is beginning. For the love of god, please wait until I'm done UP! Have fun!

If I made a blatant mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice or accidentally making incest happen, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. Remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish a thread or two on Sunday, that's fine.

A regular post-dates Caritas post will go up on Saturday.]

Seifer was at the church again, as he was supposed to be. There was to be a small morning service, and then he would be present at the church all day. He had much to pray and ask forgiveness for.

Seifer had a feeling that yesterday's slow run on weddings was a one-off.

He had cleaned the church, removing all traces of yesterday's ...indiscretions. It was once again a place of holy worship.

Annie finally had everything going for her. After spending a good deal of her teenage years working the pole in order to help her destitute mother pay the bills, she'd finally gotten out of the business and was on her way to becoming a successful doctor. Her mother would be so proud of her.

Except that her mother was still destitute and paying for medical school was expensive. The clinic where Annie was interning only paid so much, and so she'd once again had to find a way to make ends meet. She was really going to have to find herself a rich husband.

As soon as she'd finished the deal, Annie walked down the docks with her backpack full of alcohol, which would be sold under the table in order to make a few bucks. She also knew it was probably wrong to use the clinic as a front for her illicit dealings, but a girl had to do what a girl had to do.

And if she took a moment to stand on the docks and look forlornly out at the water with a single tear welling in her eye, well. Who could blame her?

There was something minorly weird going on on the island. Jeremy could tell by how much trouble he'd had getting into his closet earlier today, when he'd wanted to pick out a nice suit and shirt and a good tie that went with both. He'd eventually wrestled the closet door into submission, but the experience (along with the random little gates in the stairs back at the dorms) came back to him as he was escorting George into Il Pollo, through a door the staff were currently trying to get propped open because they kept having to come and open it individually for everyone who came in.

But he cared not, because he was on a date, and he gave George a winning smile as they were being shown to their table. "Did I mention yet that you look great, George?"

He had.

[ooc: Jerms is here with the slightly modded giiirl, but post is open for your other Il Pollo needs, sure sure.]

So ... George had a job. Not the same job as before. A different one. She was working for her roommate. The new roommate. Not the old one. Although they both had run the music shop, so maybe that was a fucking sign or whatever.

She put a sign up in the window.
