Dressed to her best to proudly represent the Associates part of all this, Turtle was finally coming in for work. It felt like it took forever for Monday to get here, but now it was, and she was ready for it! It was a little surreal, sitting behind the desk and thinking that she was actually employed by someone else for a change, but it was exciting, too! She was tempted to work on seeing if files needed organizing, but knew that was just an excuse to snoop a little and revel in all the delicious legal goodness, so she held off on that for right now and just brushed up on law documents available on the Intrawebz.

She's only just sat down for five minutes and already this job rocked.

Dor cheerfully went about his day making sure the shop was well in order.

Except for all the bananas that kept randomly appearing in the cash register.

Weird.

Dor was chatting with the new Y-People comic book about the new Beginnings movie that was out today. Granted Dor wasn't a complete comic nerd but to him the movie just didn't sound all the great.

Must be a Mundania thing.

Dor was in a good mood this morning. He was finished with his exams and was looking forward to an actual summer break.

Unfortunately for Dor a small green creature with big teeth decided to jump out at him and bite him.

By the time he got to the store he was under the impression that he was Freddie Mercury, that the register was Brian May, the comic book rack was Roger Taylor and shelf of Role Playing games was John Deacon.

Luckily for Dor his "band" somehow was able to carry a tune because there was no way that Dor could hit those high notes. It didn't stop him from singing though.

"I see a little silhouetto of a maaaaan!" Dor/Freddie sang out.

The inanimate objects in question weren't sure what was happening. But they were having a good time singing along.

"Scaramouche! Scaramouche! Will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning! Very very frightening me-
Galileo!
Galileo!
Galileo!
Galileo!
Galileo Figarooooooooooooo!
Magnificooooo!

Dor was happily cleaning up the store and inventorying the stock.

One nice thing about making things talk? They could keep count of themselves. Made inventory very easy.

Marion had spent most of the afternoon decorating the bar with Valentine's decorations she handwavily got from Turtle & Canary. The whole red and pink theme was kind of making her gag but it was Valentine's Day and people were here to find love or whatever.

Marion hoped she was getting a bonus for this or something

After she had set all the decorations and tables up, she put out a nice sign:

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Marion Ravenwood
Reject people real fast

When everyone arrived, Marion got on stage and grabbed the mic. "Okay everyone, this is how this is gonna work. I call your name and someone else's. You get together. You guys talk for three minutes, get to know each other and then you'll hear this," Marion put a whistle into her mouth and blew. "Then I call your name with someone else's and then you switch. Then you do the same thing again. Five times total. Questions? No? Good!"

Then she blew the whistle for fun.

[3 minutes = 10 comments, 5 for each of you. You can do these out of order but try not to Joss yourselves. Up early for great SP justice]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

The store was oddly quiet today, which might have something to do with Dor ordering them not to discuss anything that had to do with the comic book industry.

Since they had nothing else to talk about it was a blissfully quiet day at work.

Dor was having a long conversation with the video game cartridge from the latest James Bund movie. The name puzzled him quite a bit and the whole secret spy and guns thing puzzled him even more.

All in all he'd stick to the world of magic and normal stuff like that.

[Open of course]

After a jog around the island, Sarah went to open the shop. The tiny animals were gone, and she was just faced with comics.

Lots and lots of comics.

Reading them counted as researching the island, right? In some weird, cosmic way?

She was getting to kind of like Bitterwoman.

The Android's Dungeon was open.

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

Welcome Parents, Relatives and Friends!
Enjoy Sunday brunch with us!

As the sun went down, the twinkling fairy-lights that had been strung around the park took its place as a light source. Not nearly as big, but it was enough to see the food and the dance area by, with the help of some strategically placed torches in the shape of old-fashioned gaslamps. Nor nearly as warm, but there were carefully-controlled braziers here and there to take the nip out of the evening air.

Around the dance area and along the buffet tables there was a proliferation of orange, brown and rust-coloured harvest flowers that might have bordered on excessive, as if someone got rather excited about being offered a job this important, but it was still within the bounds of good taste.

[OCD is now up. Have fun!]

By some act of Fandom, the weather was behaving itself. Any clouds or rain the weather forecasters had blathered about on the news seemed to have skipped over the entirety of Fandom Island. It was a perfect afternoon in October, just the right temperature in which to spend the day outside with pleasant company. Or even relatives.

A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a bright banner announcing the start of a hopefully calm weekend:
Welcome to Parents Weekend 2008

Jan had lost his contest, and he had lost it not because Korr was better, but because he had been stupid. Not just to break out of the pattern, but to believe, even for a moment, that Korr would stay, that his hatred had been anything but real.

Everything Korr had said to him came back, and he hung his head, miserable, pawing the earth. You are corrupter and betrayer. Weanling sop who led the unicorns away from Alma's laws. Your name is a curse...

He didn't even remember his name; it had been a gift from the voice upon his arrival. He snorted, pawing the earth again, and threw his head up to gaze out over the ocean.

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

[ooc: OCD up! Party down!]
