Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

Glitter seemed to be a theme of the evening. There was glitter on the posters covering the walls, glitter on the plants printed on table cloths. Glitter on the fake full moon hanging in place of a mirror ball.

And of course, glitter on the banner hanging above the entrance.

Welcome to Homecoming 2012

Well, this was it. Last day. After this, the store would be Ariel's to run, for better or for worse. Jenny supposed she should spend the day setting things in order.

Instead, she pulled a bottle of rum from beneath the counter, took a swig straight from it, and decided to spend the day trying on the clothes and getting absolutely smashed, because why the bloody hell not?

Pixie Dust is open, even if the clerk is rather tipsy and dressed in something absurd.
[identity profile] shes-got-legs.livejournal.com
Ariel was absolutely ecstatic. A shipment of new accessories and dresses and such had come in and they were all right up her alley. She was half tempted to covet them all for herself, but, with the impression that perhaps seashells could be hot this season, she happily did some rearranging around the store to put them out front and center.

The floofy dress was so totally hers, though. And, even better, she found some matching shoes to go with it.

This made it a very good day.

Pixie Dust is open!

Jenny supposed she should be trying to get the store in order for when she blew this town. Or she could do that tomorrow and slack off and smoke today. That sounded like much more her style, really.

One minute a kitty was pacing the floor at Pixie Dust, complaining vocally about how much she wanted a drink and a cigarette and contemplating shredding some of the clothes to make herself feel better. The next, Jenny Sparks was standing in the middle of the room naked.

Well, at least she was already in a clothing shop, although it appeared she'd opted to delay covering herself in favor of getting her nicotine fix...

Pixie Dust is open. She'll probably be clothed by the time you get there.

Jenny had just gotten in a shipment of weather-appropriate clothing, which she figured could only mean they wouldn't be here long enough for her to sell it. She spent much of her shift expecting the island to move at any moment, honestly.

A sign in the window proclaimed:

Oh, formal events. How the cash register adored you. Jenny opened up Pixie Dust on Friday after taking a few minutes to rearrange things to make sure the formalwear was most obvious, then put a sign in the window:

Left it to the last minute?
Good.
Formalwear 10% extra

Ruthless? But of course. Pixie Dust? Open.

Jenny was...well, Jenny, so she counted remembering to open the store only after attending Apathy Club as a win. It was open, wasn't it? If you'd come by earlier and been disappointed to see that it was closed, well, that wasn't her problem.

The sign in the window said:

BUY SOME NEW CLOTHES
SO YOUR PARENTS WON'T RECOGNIZE YOU
(Or to make yourself more presentable, whatever, etc. etc.)

Pixie Dust was late, but open.

Sometime after Emma had gotten up, she'd gone off to the Perk. Today was clearly going to be a day that required caffeine, given the mental turmoil that was going on today.

Jenny was dressed to kill today because, why not? She looked fabulous in this dress, dammit.

The shop still had entirely too much red and pink in it (and, ugh, lace) and the sign in the window proclaimed:

10% EXTRA

You Sodding Procrastinators

Jenny felt she should encourage good clothes-buying habits in this time of lace. To that end, there was a sign in the window of Pixie Dust today:

15% OFF
ANYTHING THAT'S NOT PINK OR RED

Pixie Dust was open. Jenny was cranky, but that was normal.

[personal profile] ashockingbitch
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, there was a lot of red in the shop. And a lot of pink, and lace. It was practically giving Jenny hives. This was a clothing store, dammit, not a glorified Victoria's Secret.

Although she wouldn't be surprised if they had booze under the counter at Victoria's Secret, too, just to get through the day.

Pixie Dust? Open.

Jenny supposed she really should think about actually showing up for work more often. It would mean less time she had to devote to paperwork when she did so, for one thing. And the paperwork did pile up so fast when one blew off one's employment for over a month. As did the new stock that she hadn't even ordered, half of which was hideous. She needed to order some actual stock she'd had a hand in. Ugh.

Also, the bar under the counter was dry. She'd rectified that as soon as she arrived, but she'd been horrified by the discovery.

Jenny was behind the counter, surrounded by piles of paperwork and a computer she was trying very hard not to electrocute in a tizzy, and Pixie Dust was open. The sign in the window read:

15% Off To New Students!

The shop had gotten in a startling array of tacky holiday sweaters. Jenny spent her shift on Friday unpacking them and tossing them into the 'burn' pile, touching them as little as possible, an expression of permanent horror plastered on her face.

Pixie Dust is open for all your holiday shopping needs. If you want a tacky sweater, get it before it's set aflame.

Jenny was singing today at Pixie Dust, of course. A wee bit of Sex Pistols, anyone?

"I am an Antichrist
I am an anarchist
Don't know what I want
But I know how to get it
I wanna destroy the passersby
'Cause I wanna be anarchy..."

The fact that she was singing this while folding t-shirts and jeans like nothing was going on might make it a little more odd.

Had you slacked until the last possible minute on getting a Homecoming dress and/or suit? Jenny had your back, and was happy to make a quick buck off you. Pixie Dust was open, with a lovely selection of formalwear for your convenience.

There was quite a bit of cold weather gear on display at the store today, including skiing gear. Since Jenny didn't remember getting any of it in, she had to wonder if the store knew something she didn't. Most curious.

Jenny was at Pixie Dust, sorting clothes for burning (Ariel and Shelley were probably going to be sad when they came in next week, as Jenny suspected some of their favorites were in the 'doomed' pile) and being quite glad no one was coming to see her.

There was a sign in the window. It said:

Jenny had found, along with actual cash, a stack of slowplayed IOUs in the cash register. This was unacceptable. While she was willing to accept anyone's legal or pawnable tender (or intoxicating substances), pieces of paper that promised money at some later date were neither, and despite certain appearances she wasn't running a charity here. She was going to have to have a chat with Ariel. And hunt down this 'William Murdoch' and get her money. Possibly by turning him upside down and shaking him for spare change, if she had to.
ashockingbitch: (Default)
[personal profile] ashockingbitch
Jenny opened up Pixie Dust on Friday morning and began attempting to deal with paperwork. She turned out to be much too sober to cope with math, and had to apply a generous amount of gin to be able to soldier on. She was planning to reward herself with more gin, and possibly new shoes, once she finished up with this.

The sign in the window still read, NOW HIRING

Pixie Dust is open.

Jenny stuck a sign in the window at Pixie Dust when she arrived for work on Friday. It read:

Jenny was on duty at Pixie Dust on Friday, making a halfhearted effort to set up some sort of back to school display between (frequent, naturally) smoke breaks.

She was getting pretty good at setting up clothing displays, actually. It kind of disturbed her, but ultimately, she shrugged it off and moved those jeans a few inches to the left.

Jenny, who couldn't be bothered to open the store when everything was peaceable, was here promptly now that the island seemed to be going crazy, and could be seen bustling about inside the store, fussing with the displays in between smoke breaks.

Jenny opened up the store on Friday and sat down behind the counter to smoke, drink, and work her way through the mountain of paperwork she'd let build up. Just your typical Friday, really.

After all this paperwork, she was going to have to burn something. She had her eye on a blindingly yellow top. With sequins. It had to cease to exist.

Despite gross negligence, Jenny still had a job, since she couldn't well fire herself, and had suddenly remembered this fact. She staggered on down to Pixie Dust despite her hangover and set about taking stock of the place and all the catch-up paperwork she had to do. It was so much more fun to burn ugly clothes, though, so she was going to gather items up for that purpose while she waited for her headache to clear.

Jenny opened up Pixie Dust on Friday with an enormous coffee to hopefully counteract her hangover in hand. She made sure that the swimsuits were on display, along with the more modest of the period-appropriate clothing, to appeal to the new students who'd never been out of the Middle Ages or whatever before. Then she stuck the 'NOW HIRING' sign in the window. Who knew? Maybe she'd find another misanthrope or two to balance out Shelley.

Pixie Dust was open, and OCD-free.

Jenny opened the store only a little bit late on Friday and decided to throw a wee sale in honor of those among them who were soon to escape the secondary academia grind:

10% OFF
If you'll wear it under a graduation robe.

She made a note to speak to her student employees (particularly her roommate) and find out if any of them would soon be leaving her, then settled in to drink and celebrate the end of yet another semester of high school wherein she hadn't failed anything to the best of her knowledge, killed anyone, slept with her teachers, run away, or snapped and declared herself god-empress. Really, she felt she was displaying remarkable restraint.

If only she'd been able to push through the lemur-themed prom, but she had some very nice photos of herself in front of that backdrop to console herself.

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

[OOC: Weather modded with permission. The Prom is open to juniors, seniors, and their dates and definitely open to slowplay. Another post will be going up later this evening set for 10pm-midnight. Prom voting is open until 4pm EDST Please to be waiting for the OCD IS UP! (No thanks to LJ)]

The first thing Jenny did upon arriving at work on Friday was take inventory.

No, not of the clothes, who did you take her for? Of the liquor. She was going to have to buy more soon. Then, she decided that a proper manager would do inventory of the actual stock instead of drinking the rest of the liquor, so she started doing that. Being in charge was such a chore sometimes.

Jenny wanted it to be spring break again so she could go back to London and get herself thrown out of a few more pubs, but, alas. She was here, attending high school and selling clothes. She wasn't pouting, she swore. (She was totally pouting).

Swimsuits and spring fashions still abounded, and Pixie Dust was open.

There was a sale on at Pixie Dust today, and an anti-sale. With a dance for that holiday with all the hearts just around the corner, the store had been taken over by red and pink. Jenny kind of wanted to either cry or stab something, but that was just Jenny. Pixie Dust still had some lovely winter clothing on display, but red and pink were predominant colors thanks to the upcoming holiday, and beachwear had started to creep into the inventory in anticipation of Spring Break. Or possibly some sense of hopeless optimism. It was hard to say. Jenny was napping behind the counter. Behold her sterling work ethic in action. Or inaction, perhaps.

She'd probably wake up if someone came into the shop. Pixie Dust is open.

Jenny opened up Pixie Dust on Friday and went to check the back room to see if any of the new stock she'd ordered had come in. It had.

Adrian had been gone for the weekend, and got back to town only just before his shift at Caritas started. He had enough time to go back to his room at the Arms, drop off his stuff, smoke, have a drink, have another cigarette, and came to work only a little bit late.

"So," he greeted Tino, almost cheerfully, "did I miss anything?"

There weren't words for Tino's glare at that. No words.

After stopping by the Perk for her morning infusion of caffeine, that necessary elixir, Jenny opened up Pixie Dust and started inspecting the inventory. She was going to have to order more stock soon, and she supposed swimwear would be in demand soon, for spring break and such. It seemed ridiculous to think of swimsuits when it was still winter, but such was the clothing industry.

Once Jaina had confirmed that Caritas did in fact have power (Seriously, Fandom? Town hall apparently didn't have power but thae bar did? Guess we know where priorities lie.), she set out to work super early with what supplies she could get to bring with her. Once she got there, she started setting up, figuring that it was either going to be very busy with people flocking to where there was electricity, or very quiet with no one wanting to venture into the cold. But if people did show up, Little Miss I Have Worked In Refugee Camps was going to make sure they had anything they might need.

She set Tino to work making blanket forts in the lounge with the explanation of "It's warm, just do it," and got the bar set up mainly for hot chocolate, cider, etc.

1/2 OFF HOT DRINKS
(Don't use alcohol to warm yourself up. Don't you watch Mythbusters?)

Yeah, that was proof Jaina definitely needed a second job.

Paperwork. Jenny hated paperwork, but unfortunately some of it did come along with running a shop. Also, bills, which she hated even more, but for obvious reasons--and not just 'it would be dark'--Jenny did not want them to cut off the electricity. So the paperwork and the bills had to be dealt with, and maybe afterward she would go burn some clothes to make herself feel better.

Dan practically had a coffee radar built inside him so it didn't take him long to find the nearest coffee place on the island. The place made him a little homesick for Vanessa's cafe but he figured that coffee was coffee and as long as it had caffeine in it then it was the drink for him.

He bought the biggest cup of black coffee he could afford and sat down by the window. He had brought a notebook with him just in case the urge to write struck him but at the moment he was content enough to look out the window.
