Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

[OOC: Weather modded with permission. The Prom is open to juniors, seniors, and their dates and definitely open to slowplay. Another post will be going up later this evening set for 10pm-midnight. Prom voting is open until 4pm EDST Please to be waiting for the OCD IS UP! (No thanks to LJ)]

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

Tino was pointing to the lounge when Clark arrived at the bar to cover Jaina's shift. Not doing anything about the mess of chairs and tables out of order, or the zombies covered in gauze, just pointing.

What was this after battling green monsters all morning?

"So, you were waiting for me to come clean it up?" Clark shook his head at the other bartender's nodding smile, but got to work setting things right before the people in need of a drink showed.

Town Hall was all decked out in harvest theme with this being so close to Halloween and all. Pumpkins and squash and random corn! The corn, people! Think of the corn! But please, for the love of all that is holy, don't allow your children near it. Especially not the creepy gingers.

There was plenty of food and punch--not yet spiked--set to the side of the spacious room. Which left plenty of space for the general mulling about that kids were so fond of these days. Or dancing. And even the occasional dark bits in which to lurk. Have a fun homecoming, kiiiiids and remember to vote!

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.
Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2009!

Seeing Jaina dressed in black wasn't anything new. The face paint was, though.

So was the fact that she seemed to be trapped inside a box. You could tell, even though she wasn't saying anything, because she was placing her palms on the invisible walls and looking trapped. See, totes in a box.

Jolee walked in tonight fully expecting Tino to be up to some kind of sexually charged hijinx that would end up being embarrassing for someone. Much to his surprise, Tino just stood there with a tray of cupcakes. "What's going on?" Jolee asked. "And where is the bass player?"

Tino pointed towards the back room. Jolee walked towards the room - where, strangely, there were distressing noises - and hurried back into the main bar. He used the Force to pull a few tables towards the doorway to the back room and block it off.

"Remind me to bug Skywalker for his bleach. And where does that girl zombie keep coming from?" Jolee asked, shuddering as he made his way behind the bar. Tino patted Jolee's shoulder and offered him a cupcake. They had both now seen something that living being was ever meant to see.

That thing was zombie sex. Just in case that wasn't clear.

Robin was not a dog anymore! She was so happy about this, in fact, that she didn't even mind working on a night that wasn't her normal one. She didn't even mind that Tino shot her a dirty look when she came in -- in fact, she almost welcomed it.

She did mind the criminal shortage of vodka, and set to work making an inventory list to rectify that. Because really.

It was Chuck Bass's birthday and by god Blair was going to throw him a party.

By the time sunset arrived a section of the beach had been turned into a party zone. Green silk curtains had been hung up to help define the party space (and provide some privacy for anyone who wanted it). There were tables of food and drink entirely moddable which included Chuck's favorites and product-placed Vitamin Water as well as the birthday cake.

Music was playing, fires were lit to help keep things warm - all in all not a bad little birthday party on the beach.

All that remained was the party goers and the birthday boy.

KKG Meeting: The Beach

It was warm-ish. It was after classes. KKG was meeting on the beach.

Call it an excuse for lots of pretty boys to wear swim trunks in the presence of anyone who had handwavily heard about this completely open meeting of the minds.

Maybe some of the boys would even work up a nice sheen of sweat playing volleyball (but not in jeans, okay?) or running after a frisbee.

It was Earth Day after all.

After being gremlin-bitten in Flight Club, two short, colorful little bears wandered out by the school gates with a mission to spread love and cheer to the whole wide world.

(In reality, they were two short human girls who thought they were colorful bears. With symbols on their tummies, mind you.)

"This place looks sad," Love-A-Lot Bear decided. "We have a lot of work to do."

After three trips to the beach for sand and one trip to the store for yogurt and accessories, Ronon had finished constructing John's 'sanbox' by mid-morning.

The sandbox was large enough to entertain many children with shovels, buckets, and empty yogurt containers, and close enough to the pond that water wasn't too far away for when it came time to make moats.

Why John hadn't just wanted to drag him to the beach to play was beyond Ronon's understanding. Also, he hadn't considered that until midway through the second trip for sand.

"SANBOX MONSTER!" John yelled as he leaped into the sandbox, causing a spray of sand to hit Ronon, who was starting to wish he wasn't expected to participate in the sand-play.

Even with the sun out, it was still fairly chilly on the causeway, creating a brisk reminder of what everyone would be leaving behind for the next week as they traveled through the Caribbean.

As the students, teachers, and guests gathered to wait for the portal to Florida, everyone was given a copy of their lodging information and a trip itinerary to peruse:

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Itinerary (7 Days)
Sunday: Portal to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Ship departs 5:00PM)
Monday: Princess Cays, Bahamas (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Tuesday: At Sea
Wednesday: St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Thursday: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Friday: Grand Turk (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Saturday: At Sea
Sunday: Portal back from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Portal opens 7AM)

So far disaster hadn't struck and it seems that the StuCo wasn't tempting fate with the choice of decor. Good thing. It would suck to have an invasion before everyone got lucky on Valentine's Day.

There was still plenty of food to eat, dances to be had and, hey, it looked like someone spiked the punch.

[You are some damn talky people. This is your mirror post (possibly not your last) for the dance. Wait for the OCD or you'll have me to deal with and I fight dirty up!]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

Signs had been handwavily put up around town throughout the day indicating that this was the place and this was the time. New Year's Eve in Fandom, in one of the abandoned warehouses (although it had been tidied up and decorated). Showgirls carrying champagne flutes, a live band playing, and a big glowy ball hanging from the rafters with a countdown clock displayed.

After sending off her E-mail and running trying to get everything bought at the last second, Brooke set up at the beach. There were totally moddable drink fixings and snacks on a fold-out table covered nicely with a tablecloth because a folding table kind of killed the natural decor, there was music, and she'd been thoughtful and put out little bottles of suntan oil and sunblock out because in December people were probably not prepared.

Some days Brooke loved this town. Today was totally one of them.

Jolee walked into the bar and saw a shiny metal pole on the counter and a smile on Tino's face.

"No," Jolee said. He reached out with the Force and pulled the pole down, bending it in half before floating the trashed pole to the back room.

And that's the story of how Caritas gained and then quickly lost a stripper pole.

Lois had planned on a quiet evening getting drunk in a bar. The plan was working at first; she came in, sat at the bar and got a beer from Tino. Somehow that all went wrong because a few minutes later she found herself behind the bar with a name tag that said "Lois Lane -- Bar wench" stuck on her shirt. Apparently the regular girl wasn't coming in tonight.

Lois cracked open another beer and glared at Tino. She wasn't a wench, dammit.

Jaina was getting married today! She was very excited, because even though John hit on her thinking she was her sister once she'd stolen Brooke's identity and only wanted the Skywalker diamond mine, he was still all she ever wanted. And now she would own his ass.

The park had been done up to look nearly as beautiful as she did, and the duck pond would be a lovely backdrop for the wedding.

When you had money and were creative you could make parties happen anywhere. Blair had both money and creativity in spades, and thus her party was born.

It was an Antarctic theme so there was ice aplenty. Blocks of it were used to make tables and chairs (with blankets and cushions on them - Blair would suffer for fabulousness but there was no reason to willingly give yourself frostbite). Slabs of ice made up the bar and the tables for food. Carefully placed lights helped to show off what was available. All in all the end effect was something not unlike this. The only thing that wasn't as icy was the floor, because much though Blair would find it amusing to watch people fall down, it ran the risk of her pretty decorations being destroyed.

There was dance music playing and a space for dancing if anyone was inclined. There were plenty of extra blankets for anyone who hadn't dressed warmly enough to avoid a chill, or just wanted an excuse to cuddle. There were also tables set up in booth-like formations for those who wanted to sit and chat without being in the middle of the flow. One table had its own bar, extra thick and comfy pillows on the chairs, and luxurious blankets to help stay warm. No prize for guessing that this was the table Blair had claimed.

Town Hall was still effectively the center of command as those in charge waited for the away teams to return, and continued to form contingency plans for dealing with Hades. As one of the few safe places in town, no one was being sent away if they wanted to stay, as long as they didn't get in the way.

Fortunately, Jolee was over his cleaning kick. Unfortunately he wasn't over trying to get things organized a certain way. Now it was more to mess with Tino than anything else, though.

"No, no, no. That glass goes next. It's slightly larger," Jolee said. Tino just glared at him. "Look, one of us has Force Sight, the other doesn't. Now put them in the right order." Then he smiled. It was a fun night.

Cheerful, windblown, and a little bit tanned from a day of beachgoing on Santorini, Anders made his way back to Fandom just in time to open Caritas.

And got an olive to the head as soon as he got there.

"Aw. You're really gonna miss me when I'm gone, aren't you, Tino?" he asked, and ducked the subsequent olive. "I'm gonna take that as a yes."
