Steph was a big fan of just following the road and seeing where it led -- and the new melody that had been forming in her head while driving lately might go well with that theme, come to think of it -- so the
sequence of events that culminated in her stepping off the causeway onto this island she knew absolutely nothing about was no big deal. It was an adventure, and she was all about those. She hadn't gotten much of a chance to get close to the beach so far on this East Coast jaunt, which meant that her first encounter with the Atlantic Ocean was going to be the up close and personal kind.
Starting along what seemed like a main road that ran along the edge of the shore, she looked out at the ocean and chuckled softly. "Man, it just...
feels totally different from the Pacific," she muttered to herself. "Damn if I can explain how, though." The wind off of the water felt colder, for one thing, but pssh, naturally she had a beanie on. It was fine.
Not that she had seen the ocean since she'd left Seattle, but she'd spent most of her childhood in Arcadia Bay, practically on top of the water's edge, and it was really hard to forget what that felt like.
This place, though, was... huh. Steph could feel her face starting to pull into a tiny bit of a grin. She'd seen her share of quaint towns while traveling across the country, but none of them since Haven Springs had a charm -- or a style, for that matter -- quite like this one. And what had happened the
last time she'd ended up in a quaint little town and started vibing with the place? She'd ended up with her name engraved on a brass plate on a barstool at the Black Lantern for being a pillar of the community. That's what had happened.
But it would be getting ahead of herself to worry about that. She'd literally just gotten here; she had no plans of sticking around for a while.
Right now, all she had plans to do was to take a bunch of pictures like a total unrepentant tourist, wander around the town (which looked like it was going to give her a hell of a workout), and see if there was some kind of music venue around here. Maybe some band needed a drummer to sit in with them? Couldn't hurt to find out.
... also, if someone could explain to her why her phone kept telling her it was 2021 all of a sudden, that would be a bonus. Because what the hell?
[OOC: And my new girl's here! Not that she knows she's staying yet. Open, if you want to spot her wandering around. Usual SP disclaimer applies; I need distraction today, for the love of gods.]
