myownface: The rainbow Pride flag (Pride)
[personal profile] myownface
The rainbow that had appeared for the parade seemed intent on sticking around for the picnic as well, and the weather seemed to be holding up nicely. The tables had been draped in tablecloths in the colours of various pride flags, and each one had a centerpiece that consisted of a vase with smaller moddable flags in it, free for the taking. Off to the side there was a ball pit, a giant inflatable rainbow slide (the kraken had been retired for the year on account of multiple instances of eldritch traumas), and other activities for people to enjoy. There were booths, there was food, and even the stage had made a reappearance this year, with a setup for karaoke if anybody was feeling daring, but plenty of room if anybody wanted to get up and play, too.

All-in-all? It was a lovely day with a brightly-coloured park open for everyone to come enjoy.

[OOC: And the picnic is good to go! Enjoy!]

Kanan had a lightsaber in one hand and a blaster in the other.

Kanan could be back in the Ghost, enjoying a shielded ship with power and heating and hot caf. But no, he was out here, wearing the heaviest coat he had and a smile on his face as he carved through snowmen, using this as his training exercise for the day.

They were attacking the island, he felt very few compunctions about cutting them down with superheated plasma in the name of training, no. A slash of his lightsaber here, a few headshots from his blaster as another contingent of snowmen rounded the corner... reducing these things to slush was actually somewhat cathartic. So, no, Kanan wasn't in the warehouse today. But that didn't mean he wasn't getting his lightsaber work in. Not at all.

And today he'd even left the dog on the ship. Sorry, buddy.

Well, it wasn't as if Caritas was going to close right after the dates! The night was still so young that it was practically prepubescent, and so there was plenty of time for people to stick around and talk some more with the dates they'd most liked - or to talk to some of the people they hadn't been matched with.

Caritas was (still) open, please buy lots to drink.

Anybody walking past Caritas would have spotted a sign out front:

Caritas presents:
THREE-MINUTE DATES

It was written in a calligraphy that was decidedly at odds with the fact that it was done in neon marker on a bar sign.

Inside, tables had been set up throughout the bar, with little candles just a shade nicer than they probably should have been on each one. The zombies were wearing pinstripes (except for the drummer, who was inexplicably wearing a bowtie) and playing their way through a collection of swing music. On the bar were an assortment of snacks, mostly nice cheeses and crudités, with slices of good, crusty baguette.

At eight o'clock sharp, Hannibal took to the stage in front of the band and nodded to the assorted guests. He was dressed in a lovely burgundy and red plaid three-piece suit with a pink shirt and blue paisley tie and pocket square. Somehow, it worked on him.

"Welcome to Caritas this evening, and thank you to the staff for hosting us. I am Doctor Hannibal Lecter, and tonight we are hosting three-minute dates. I hope that many of you will be participating. I am obliged on behalf of myself and this establishment to advise you that we are not liable for any inconvenience or damage you may incur. Hopefully those will both be kept to a minimum, however. Rude behavior is frowned upon." That was a mild but serious look he was giving you all preemptively.

"This is an opportunity for you to meet and make friends, and perhaps spark something more. It will work like this: I will announce pairs of people. You will go to the tables indicated and meet, and you will have three minutes to introduce yourselves and do whatever you like, within the bounds of legality and public decency. Then the band here," he gestured at the zombies, "will begin to play, and you will wrap things up before I announce the next pairings. You will each have five dates. Should you wish to spend more time together, the bar will remain open afterward, and we encourage you to remain and mingle."

He smiled and spread his hands. "Please, enjoy."

[Each date is five comments per person; if you need one or two to wrap things up, that's cool, too, but keep it short in the spirit of things. Regular bar post for post-3MD mingling should be up Saturday, but this is going up early for great timezone justice.]

Please wait for the OCD is up! Have at!

Fenris was in the park looking up at the trees as if they'd somehow betrayed him. "Your leaves were green three days ago," he accused.

The trees didn't answer. His eyes narrowed. "It's not even that cold yet." Said the man who'd been bundled up as though he were exploring the Arctic just a few days prior. In his defense, he'd been carrying a snake at the time.

The trees still didn't answer.

Glowering, he threw himself down on a park bench. One leg drawn up and tented, he rested his chin on his knees and ..well.. brooded.. about the starkening landscape.

The ducks floated by to look at him curiously.

"What are you looking at?"

The ducks didn't answer any more than the trees did.

He wasn't having much luck with conversation today.

As usual, the decorations from the dance had escaped the confines of Town Hall, which mean the park was filled with Halloween decorated sea creatures, "sea" "creatures," and plenty of glitter. It just wouldn't be right to send the alumni home without a few more weird things to dream about, right?

Town hall was decked out for homecoming, and there was certainly... a theme. Halloween Under the Sea was definitely a theme that they had come up with.

And it was a theme that was put together by several people not from this universe who didn't know much about Halloween, or what this planet had under its sea.

So there were definitely backdrops of waves lining the walls, and they were decorated with things like fish. Fish that were wearing costumes that had been Googled so that some might have firefighter helmets on, or cat ears. One was very definitely a superhero. Same for the octoroks. And sure, yeah, maybe you had one of these guys on a wall but he was wearing a witch's hat!

There was also plenty of orange and black glitter around, too. Don't worry, they hadn't classed the place up too much.

It was homecoming time, and that meant the park was decked out festively in glitter and banners welcoming alumni back, and booths for all sorts of fun and evil, depending upon your inclination.

The weather was cooperating wonderfully, and everybody was invited!

It had been... some time since Liara's last visit to Fandom. And this one had not been planned. Rather, she had had the - in retrospect - foolish idea that travelling by Portalocity might make the trip to Thessia take less time, and in result, be less draining.

Instead it had left her with a twelve-hour layover on the island.

"I would like a coffee with at least three shots of caramel," she said to the barista, "... That is a sweetener, isn't it? Or have I forgotten?"

She sounded painfully solemn, for a being ordering coffee. The barista was having trouble repressing a laugh.

spectre_alenko: Kaidan in a sleeveless sports jersey, smirking slightly (exercise)
[personal profile] spectre_alenko
Kaidan had seen the park during the realtor's tour of the island, but hadn't had a chance to check it out. He decided to rectify that Monday morning during his daily jogging routine. Wearing knee-length board shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt, he tied on his trainers and headed out. Taking Godiva South, he noted the names as Serendipity became Galactica became Thunderbird. Heading South on Griffin, he caught up to Apocolypse Ave, grimacing slightly at that name. He'd had quite enough apocolypse already, thankyouverymuch. Turning up Minotaur, he transferred from sidewalk to park path, and once into the shade of the trees, increased his pace.

The air was lush in the greenery, and filled with birdsong. Some he recognized, some were entirely new, and some.. well, some sounded just plain odd. Could be unfamiliarity, could be an odd species of bird nobody had ever seen off-island. Kaidan was slowly adjusting to the new paradigm of 'normal' that his life had shifted to. Trilling peeps from further up the path indicated there was probably some form of pond or frog-harboring marshland he would need to investigate for the possibility of a fishing hole.

His feet hit the pavement with a steady, rhythmic stride. His gaze, like his thoughts, far away.
