The business office is actually open today. The Baron is actually in the office today. He isn't catching ascending winds or looking for veins of lapis lazuli or rescuing girls who are slowly turning into cats.

In fact, he's reading a newspaper and having a cup of tea.

The Baron awoke this morning cursing Mondays and with a strange craving for lasagna.

Instead, he made himself a cup of tea, slathered half a blueberry scone with butter, and sat down to write a few letters.

Early in the morning, the door of the business office opens and a demure little cat, wringing her paws and dabbing at her eyes with a handkerchief, stepped out on the Baron's arm. They held a low conversation for a moment before the Baron smiled at her supportively and she bowed, taking a few steps down the street before dropping to all fours and bounding away. The Baron watched her go and sighed, turning back into the store. He had a missing daughter to find. Back to work.

The office was finally back to some sort of rights. No piles of paper. No urgent reports. No messengers, feline or avian. No brewing war. No diplomatic snafus to straighten out. In fact, there was nothing. Nothing to do. Hmmm. How odd.

Maybe he'd take a nap . . .

The Baron was up and about and had already consumed two pots of tea. The massive stacks of papers were gradually being shifted and disappearing as the Baron attempted to return his office to some semblance of order. The kettle was once again on the boil for any visitors.
