A long time ago, Drax had set today as the Fandom Multi-Cultural Festival. As the date got closer and he had to deal with things like prankster fairies and rabbits made of chocolate, Drax realized that he really preferred mindless violence over multi-cultural understanding.

As such, Drax went ahead and spent school funds on adult-sized Sock 'em Boppers, Inflatable Pummel Sticks, and Inflatable Sumo Suits.

Several areas were set up, one for dueling, one for playing Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, and a large area by the pond for a free-for-all.

Drax posted three rules in plain sight everywhere: 1) There are no rules. Just fight. 2) But if you fight without the ridiculous inflatable padding, Drax may be forced to hit you. 3) And if you try to hurt anyone, Drax may be forced to hit you.

Sure he was wearing Sock 'em Boppers over his hands. But still. A cosmically powered punch dampened by air and vinyl is still pretty impressive.

In any event, it was time to rumble in a safe, padded way.

[OOC: Seriously, this was going to be a multi-cultural festival, but it was decided that punching people would be more fun. Seems like something good to end the summer on.

I just want to take a minute to give a big thanks to everyone who's participated in the Friday Events this summer. It's been a blast to coordinate them and I hope you've all had fun playing in them!]

A stage was set up with a screen showing a brick wall behind it, just to give it a real comedy club atmosphere. There was a drum set off to the side with a blonde woman ready to drum rimshots where appropriate.

Drax stepped up to the microphone looking as pleasant as ever as he glanced at his notecards. That is, he looked like he would kill the stage if he could figure out how he could make it feel pain. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Fandom Comedy Festival. We have plenty of entertainment for you this afternoon to make sure that you laugh, chuckle, and guffaw... Guffaw? Who wrote this? Some of our students will be coming up here to show off their comedy stylings, and we'll be showing some other things that will make you smile." Drax was not smiling. "But just to start us off, here is a joke."

Drax glared at the notes. "I'm not going to tell a joke."

"TELL IT!" demanded a voice that sounded like a high pitched Jerry Seinfeld impersonator.

"No," Drax said. The voice didn't respond... yet.

[OOC: For the people who will be participating, please ping into the appropriate thread. People reacting, ping in under them. For reactions to the film clips, just go ahead and ping in. A certain thread is locked to myself, please.

Please wait for OCD.]

Drax looked miserable.

That probably had something to do with the fact that he was standing under a banner that said "Fandom Chocolate Festival."

Or something to do with the fact that he was in the park, surrounded by chocolate sculptures.

Or the fact that there were weetiny chocolate bunnies scampering around.

More than likely, it was the fact that his regular leather pants needed to be washed and the only other clothes he could find were a pair of lederhosen that the previous dean left behind in the garage at 33 Apocalypse.

[OOC: Please don't ask me to explain my brain. There's chocolate all over the park. You can get bars of it or just take it from the sculptures and stuff.

Weather is modded so that we will not have isolated thunderstorms around the park, but the upper 90 degree weather will continue, which spells doom for the chocolate. Even the bunnies. Mwahaha. No, seriously, don't ask me about my brain.]

The park had been transformed into something looking a little like a circus. Tents were set up all over with things inside each of them for people to see, and there were booths outside for people to get food. Because you can't have a circus without food. Every once in a while there would be a roar from inside a tent or a sound like whatever sound an elephant would make, and random clowns were wandering around to greet unsuspecting passersby.

However, this wasn't any ordinary circus, as rickshaws and golf carts carried spangly-dressed people (who might have looked a little familiar) over to the tents. If they passed by you, you might have heard someone or another on the phone demanding to speak to their agent.

That might be because hanging from the main tent over the entrance is a large banner that reads WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF THE moderately well-known STARS!!!

[OCD is coming all done! Yes, I need help.]

The water guns were loaded, the water balloons were filled, and there was more than enough for everyone. Drax had two water guns. He was using his privilege as Dean of Students to use two but nobody else would be allowed to (unless they snuck one from their room, or disarmed someone and took their gun or something). Them's the breaks. The fact that he was sniping some people while they were arming themselves were also the breaks.

The Great Fandom Water Fight had begun.

[OOC: Standard combat rules apply. Please don't mod anyone getting hit. That said, it's just water. Let it hit you! You're free to go through the park and into stores that indicate that you can fight in there.

Business people, if you'd like to be part of the battleground, just drop an OOC note in your post.

This event should be pretty self-explanatory, I think.]

In the morning, the event coordinators came to start setting up the park for today's event. They set up a bunch of extra benches and picnic tables for people to congregate at and marked off the run area to keep it clear for the participants. They also set up water stations along the race way just in case anybody needed them. This wasn't going to be a marathon, or even an actual race, but if anybody didn't want to stop running they might want the water.

The park was decorated with ribbons and bunting for the event. Mostly in teal. There were tables set up with modable picnic-type foods and a special table set up for a DJ to play music.

It wasn't long before the park was ready and waiting for people to come and participate and to cheer the runners on.

[[OOC: Please wait for OCD. OCD is ready to go. It may be a little bit before you get a response in the second two threads, but feel free to talk to each other.

The monster thread is ready to go! If you arrive late, feel free to jump in there.

The finale has started (due to some player availability and mine as well). Feel free to help Rory sing badly.

And part two of the finale has kicked off. Aly and Rikku are heading the expulsion of the beasties.]]

There was a stage set up in the park by the duck pond. A bit farther away were merchandise and food booths. The food was free and the merchandise was overpriced, but the music cost nothing.

As the signs proclaimed, it was the Second Annual Fandom Music Festival.

Drax stepped up onto the stage and poked at the microphone. He hated this part of the job. "Welcome to the Music Festival. Enjoy the music and behave yourselves. We're not on school property so I can injure you if I deem it necessary." That wasn't true, but he felt it was a worthwhile thing to say to keep people in line. "Welcome our guests and enjoy yourselves."

[OOC: Artists, feel free to interact backstage and if you'd really like to wander out, hit up the audience. You should post links or lyrics for a song or two or three in your thread. Audience, feel free to participate in the various audience type threads or react to performances as a reply to the artist when they ping in.

Some of these artists will be around town this weekend in other locations. Hopefully I'll get a flyer up for that Friday night.

That should be it. If I missed anything, it's because I'm tired. Hey, I missed something because I was careless, not tired! One more pair of artists was added to the program because I missed them while I was organizing things. All's well that ends well!]

The Park was set up for movies. There were chairs, blankets for the grass, popcorn, soda, judges, and - most importantly - movies.

Also importantly, there was a sign announcing that this was the 2007 Fandom Film Festival. Because it's not a real festival until there's a banner.

For some reason, GOB Bluth was your MC.

[OOC: This should be fairly straightforward at this point. Judges, please play around in this post. People who submitted movies, please feel free to add more info in your movie's thread. People who are watching the movies, please feel free to talk and goof off during them. Huzzah!]
[identity profile] deandestroyer.livejournal.com
The park was strewn with tables all over the place and signs indicating where you can sell certain things if you have certain things to sell. If you have anything to sell, feel free to handwavily drop it off with the NPC office workers working the sale. They'll make sure you get your money for it.

[OOC: Each area will have two subthreads, one for leaving a list of what you're selling, one for shopping. If you're shopping, please refer to the other subthread in a certain area for things you can buy.

You can either leave the selling of your stuff to the NPCs or sell things yourself. Up to you. OCD is up.]
