Hmmm, the smell of coffee was always welcomed, and in those cold days? Way more than ever. Jane had forced herself to leave her cold, lonely mansion -which had had an extra working generator, so she didn't really feel the ridiculous coldness of the other day- to go and investigate the town, most specifically the Perk. And their coffee, of course.

By her second mocha, she was starting to consider changing to a tea, perhaps. No sense on jogging her way back home, right?

So here was this Luau thing on the beach. If Jane weren't the kind of store owner that had a greater sense of duty, she would have already headed down there. But no, she was terribly advocated to her job. So if nobody in the next half an two hours appeared, she would close the store and go to check the luau, because she could use the relaxation. But Strokes of Genius was open for now! [[And OCD-less!]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane had been sloppy lately. With the number of returns she had had to her world over the festivities, she had grown a little complacent at life. She couldn't have that obviously, so the first thing she did after readying herself for the day was go and open the store. She regretted that immediately, as a wave of books literally fell from the insides right on her, as if someone had made a very precise column -columns- of books in such a way that when the door was removed, they would fall. "I presume", muttered as she sat on the ground, removing books from herself. "That this is the store's way to tell me not to slack." She could take the criticism, but next time, a note would suffice. Picking up the books she could, Jane went on to order them around again.

Moments later the store was ready to go...although she felt like the walls were expecting her not to look so they could throw things at her. Fandom's crazy, it was getting to her.

Jane wasn't entirely there that day; she was more concerned sending mails to John every five seconds with indications of how to put the damn tree by himself; the man could shoot a camouflaged soldier with stealth training in the middle of the night with a bullet on his leg, but he apparently was no match for the mess of lights and balls and glitter the tree was made of. Her John needed her, and she would leave later today to reassure him he wasn't any less of a man because a plant had defeated him.

But for now the store was open! And Jane had enough Coke for the rest of the month by now.

[OCDless and SP-y!]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane was glad things were back to normal. Jane was, also, extremely tired and sleep-deprived, but her sense of duty was enough to make her open the store and conduct business as usual. There was always coffee to drink in unhealthy proportions anyway, so she could probably make it through the day without collapsing until she returned home.

Until she discovered a rather interesting game. Even if it was just a demo, she would have her fun making perfect scores every time for a while.

I didn't look precisely like Hell on Earth, but seeing how the maze was apparently expanding on the island was pretty close to it. Jane had taken a good time staring at it from the door of the store, wondering if someone would take the risk to wander off in town. She hoped not, because she hated playing hero -although chances were all the heroic types were already on it-. For someone who had seen weird things, this was certainly the highlight of the year, with the exception of the island falling apart, perhaps. She wasn't even sure if it was safe for her to stay in the store; what if a wall suddenly fell over it?

It had been a slow day up until the moment Jane had decided to actually use the computer for something else than checking the stock.

Bad move, that one.

Who would have known Counter Strike could be that addictive? Before she realized it she was already yelling to some guy in Korea about putting a frag right in front of her. Surely he had never heard the word 'teamwork' before. The rest of her team? Hopeless, too. She would decided to call John and tell him to join...although maybe he didn't have the time.

"...I need to find a way to use my time. Proactively."

Anyway, there were hostages to rescue now.

After being hijacked yesterday by RL doing some massive cleaning the last day, Jane felt like the store was good enough to receive customers again. The only thing she hadn't counted for was that now pretty much all the merchandise was somewhere different, which made finding what you wanted a challenge. And while Jane liked challenges, she was well aware that wasn't the point of a store. So there would be her, putting little notes on ever aisle so people would know just what was where without needing to walk half the store before. She would probably move everything to where it was before so people -and herself- would be able to walk more easily.

It was another week on Strokes of Genius, and Jane was pretty glad to be still in her right mind. She also knew that next time people were all jumpy she might not get out of easily, so she had already talked to John...and promised him the best week of his life. But that would have to wait. Until then she had had to also promised some of the best weekends of his life. So much work and now fun...

At any rate, after disposing of large amounts of "Sexuality and You: Let's not screw things up" -which she didn't want to know how had ended up in her store- that she was sure won't be required by the population anymore, she settled behind her counter, decided to enter the amazing world of watercolor. She had the feeling she was going to end up painting with her fingers.

Jane was blissfully unaware of the weird pollen thing going on. As with half the things that happened in Fandom, she tended to find out once they were over, and lucky her, so far, so good. So instead of running around with her panties in a bunch, she was quietly marveling herself with just how far technology had gone in terms of painting pretty things.

The new shipment of sparkly paint had arrived. Jane was thrilled, really. Moving the boxes around, she could only hope that one of them didn't explode on her and covered the store in glitter once more.

Wishful thinking, but at least she hadn't jinxed it just yet. Of course, the day was long, and the odds were rarely on her side.

Strokes of Genius is open!
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
In her time on Fandom, Jane had learned to accept that sometimes odd things were going to happen in the island. It was getting to the point she would worry if nothing exploded or the island wasn't invaded by something bizarre and mildly dangerous. She felt like she had grown to accustomed to Fandom already.

But when she opened the door that morning, she didn't expect to find that almost all the glitter paint was...well, everywhere. Everywhere. She closed the door behind her and went to search for a mop.

...Some short time later, a defeated -and glittery- Jane opened the store again, resigned to pass the day like that. At least everyone that peeked insight would have to notice the stuff being sold...or be blinded by the sparkling walls. Or Jane, who had used the chance to write yet another sign and hung it for everyone to see.

As much as Robin had enjoyed her two days as a guy -- which wasn't...much, but she hadn't really hated it -- having her girls back, and her legs, and tops that fit? Well, she wasn't complaining.

So tonight she whistled and hummed as she wandered into the bar, and even just ignored Tino, rather than full-on bitchface as usual. Ah, good times.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
So a lot of people were enjoying themselves somewhere far away right? Well, Jane opened the store anyway, as she was decided to leave and pay a visit to John the next day; she would have her own vacations somewhere else with her husband, and they would be great.

But for now she would need to settle for a day in the store. Maybe she could actually paint something now.

Strokes of Genius is Open!
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane was still sending texts.

Actually, she was drinking her mocha and sending texts, grinning a little too much and making good use of all those free texts and money she had put on the thing. She hadn't noticed how little she had used the cell until now. After the initial shock of knowing that John would be coming...well, there had come a number of other shocks as well, but she at least had something to look after for the weekend. She hadn't really had the chance to show off her husband for a good while, and she was going to enjoy herself now.

"Oh, you didn't", said between chuckles as she put the cellphone down for a moment, taking a deep breath. For her to be losing her cool so easily...

[Post is open for your Jane or Perk-y needs!]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Coffee in hand, Jane opened the store and sat behind the counter. Minutes after, her cellphone came to life in her pocket, a fresh text message just received. Bringing the device out, Jane took a quick look, a smirk on her lips, and got to write an response. Moments later, a new text arrived, and this time she was almost smiling fully. It was going to be difficult to pay attention to something else this day.

But the store was open anyway!

[No OCD, not feeling that well today, so there can be a good deal of SP from time to time]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane arrived at the store, opened it, and needed five minutes to realize she wasn't going to be able to hold her place behind the counter for the whole day; she felt way too tired and her head was killing her. And it was not an extended hangover, really.

Really.

So she was going to curl in her office and die.

[No OCD, incredibly slow.]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane had managed to get a new employee, and now she wanted more. Because the store could still use some extra hands, really. Since she didn't feel like doing inventory for the hundredth time, Jane was back at the sketches of the mansion, wondering if she should paint the walls light blue or dark blue. Or maybe something more on the other side of the spectrum? There was paint and brushes involved as she tried to keep herself clean. It might be hard, though.

She had, of course, put the sign out there:

Today Jane was back at carefully cleaning her handguns; she was going to need to take these ladies out some day, surely. With all inventoried and squeaky clean, visiting the shooting range -because there was one of those, right?- was a must to relieve her from the boredom. Or, you know, more colorful customers. Those were always interesting.

Shunsui had figured that the vision of Jane-chan when he stopped by her place to pick her up for dinner would be the most beautiful thing of the evening, but in that he was wrong. It was true, of course, that she was easily an epitome of beauty, but Shunsui had seen many beauties in his long life- (and afterlife-)time.

He had yet to see a Sushi Station. And was wondering why it took him so long to discover such a gem of novelty, the little plates of food going about the conveyor belt like dancing delicacies.

"This," he declared, pulling out a chair with a little bow for Jane-chan, "is fabulous &hearts! What a marvelous idea ♥!"

God bless sparkle paint, and Jane had gallons of that thing.

Now she would be trying to make extra strong coffee.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Another day, another store to be opened. Alright, the same store, but she wasn't going to argue with the narrative.

Once again, she realized nobody else was opening the store. That was slightly odd, wasn't it? So Jane took the first minutes of the work day to make a nice, simple sign she proceeded to hang on the door.

She would probably need to make it more interesting later, but at the moment she didn't care. Hah!, take that, responsibility.

It was a bright new day, with endless possibilities, and a coffee-powered Jane was shining happily behind the counter -where there was even more coffee by the way-, with the sunny disposition to get some creative spirits into people. She had to admit it, after technically living on her studio, she had come to like the store even more than before.

Jane woke up in her studio. In the store.

Okay, maybe she did miss her mansion now.

But since she was already there, she decided to simply get down to business and play it cool. Maybe shoot something later. Maybe shoot something bug-like later that day. It was tempting, and enough to cheer her up a little. Now all she needed was to find a way to get coffee sent to the store.

Where were her assistants? Maybe she needed to start considering hiring new ones already.

Nothing helped Jane to deal with Fandom craziness better than making an elaborate blueprint of the Mansion -which she wasn't quite capable of occupying at the moment-, with all the possible ideas for new secret passages and what not.

Killing things also help. It had helped.

Denial, too.

She was trying not to think just where she would end up sleeping. In the store itself, maybe?

Jane mumbled some complaints to whatever person that had put her on charge -pretty much herself- and got to work.

Jane was cleaning the shop, humming happily as she went. John hadn't come with the flock of dead, hence, John was alive. Still alive, at least. That was good enough for her. There wasn't nobody she wanted to see from the dead, actually. Maybe her parents, but it had been way too long and there was way too much blood on her hands to properly face them. So yeah, she was better of not having to deal with it.

Strokes of Genius was dirty open!

It was a happy Paige who was flitting around behind the counter at the art store today. She had the younger version of her big sister in town and she had taken some time this weekend to cut and dye her hair.

So, yes, she wasn't really getting much accomplished but she was there and willing to help anyone who stopped in.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
So a new picnic had come to pass? Maybe Jane needed to start visiting those, at least for the sake of having something to do. And there was food, which was always a plus. She was still working on her social life, but granted, she wasn't particularly good about that whole deal just yet. Well, she had time. More than she was probably aware of, but time none the less. And while she was getting at it, the work on her sketch was starting to resemble the mansion. Some days of work and she would have the base to start putting some color into it. Joy.

It was a calm, sleepy day for Jane, the kind of day she would have loved to stay in bed until noon and then...stay in bed for a little longer. But, as the responsible owner of a business she was, she had to pass by and get things done. Sweeping, ordering boxes, and wondering if the walls were bullet-proof. Hm, maybe she could work on reinforcing the walls...

But since it was a calm, sleepy day, that could wait; for now she was starting to get into detail on the mansion's sketches; apparently being surrounded by art supplies most days were getting into her creative self. She might even add some modifications for turrets on the roof, and of course, reinforce the whole exterior. Oh, fun times.

By Neptune's beard, this was different!

However, Aquaman was not a man to let different keep him from enjoying a beautiful day at the beach! All the sun and air he'd been getting this past month and a half was really starting to get to him, so a beach day was well in order! Plenty of swimming and maybe some sandcastles, a few ice cold root beers, and a cross word puzzle!

Well, the cross word puzzle might have to wait. He was finding it difficult to hold a pen with his hands currently as they were. A small, minor detail, however!

Fine. Whatever. At this point in her time in Fandom, Jaina didn't even have a response for waking up weird anymore. She just got crabby and went about her day. Unfortunately for her, her day required going to work, and she wasn't about to call out on account of being plastic. If anyone showed, she had a feeling they'd understand.

And actually it was almost worth it to see Tino in the same state. The solidarity cheered her up a little.

Jane was starting to think she was a lucky person.

While she hadn't really seen the whole...incident related with people suddenly acting in very odd ways, she had had the chance to spot one or two individuals being particularly strange; as the attentive and detail-driven sort of person she was, noticing the fact some quiet folks were suddenly noisy and extroverted, while their more obnoxious partners seemed to be quiet lambs was enough to make her double check she hadn't turn into some...scaredy middle class housewife. Well, she hadn't. Maybe she was lucky enough to miss the madness, but when she ran out of luck...well, that would be an interesting day.

With the canvas containing her developing sketch of her mansion resting on an anvil next to the counter, Jane peeked outside of the store, wondering what had just happened. It was none of her business in the end, but she felt slightly curious. Well, better get back to drawing. And managing the store, sure.

Quiet day was quiet.

Jane had been painting lately, and idea brewing in her mind since she had gotten the Mansion for herself. The house looked really impressivet from outside, and she had decided to make a painting of it.

So there was Jane, carefully doing the outline on the canvas, guns apparently gone for once. She was getting better at the whole art business, which was something of a necessity for her work, anyway.

Paige had a canvas set up at the front of the store and was working on a painting of Selkie Cove today.

It had been so long since she had time to really devote to being creative that it wasn't her best effort. But, hey, she was trying.

Of course, she would stop if anyone needed help or wanted to chat.

There was no more extra depressing luggage, yay.

Jane...yawned. She had managed to stay up the whole night cleaning half her huge arsenal, and now she wanted to nap at work. Which she couldn't. Max looked around, somewhat gratified that some of his nominal students had returned assuming they had. He was keeping an eye out for newcomers. This wasn't a class at school, after all, no need to enroll. Just show up. And hopefully the word would spread and people would do that.

"Welcome back," he began. "Now I know that some of you are already pretty good with this sort of thing, but I mostly want to focus this class on those of you who haven't had a lot of training or experience with fighting. You're the ones who can get the most good out of this, I think."

With an apologetic shrug, Max looked out over the people he'd noticed were quite good last week. "The rest of you, please feel free to help out. I may be the official instructor here, but I'm not the only one with helpful advice to offer. So if you see something worth pointing out, speak up."

"Today what I want to focus on is balance. Whether you're standing still, or moving around, it's one of the most important things to focus on when you're in a fight. This is because once you're off-balance everything you do is weaker. You can't attack as well, or block, or escape. So balance is important."

"Two simple tricks will help you keep your balance when you're starting off. First, a good stance. The precise way you put your feet is going to be a matter of comfort and fighting style, but making sure that they're placed wide enough apart to give you plenty of support, and never letting your feet cross when you move," Max demonstrated a shuffling little side step, "will go a long way toward keeping you upright."

"The second thing to do is to be careful not to overextend yourself. It's easy to punch or kick too hard and end up leaning farther forward than you meant to. This can be really dangerous, so try to avoid it."

Max smirked. "And so, today, another paired activity. Each of you is going to find a partner, and you're going to practice your balance. You'll face each other, press your palms together, then link your fingers, and try to make the other person move their feet. Be sure to switch partners every so often so that you can get a feel for some of the different pressures you'll face when trying to keep your balance."
[identity profile] angelandwitch.livejournal.com
Paige was enjoying her new job even if her player had forgotten to post last week and she was setting up a new display of watercolors today while listening to a classic rock radio station.

Every once in a while, she would even sing along.
[identity profile] furious-maximus.livejournal.com
Max had arrived (gasp!) early to make sure that everything was ready. Since he wasn't planning anything too strenuous for the first meeting, he didn't really have much to prepare for. Now he just had to hope that some people actually showed up. Because it'd be pretty dang embarrassing if they didn't.

As the first people trickled in assuming they did Max just let them mingle. Nothing too formal. He wanted everyone to be comfortable.

Once he felt enough people had arrived (and that there wouldn't be too many more coming), he figured it was time to get started.

"Hey. Glad all of you could make it. Most of us have been on the island long enough to know that things go bad every so often. Not everyone has the training to defend themselves if that happens, and even those that do can generally use some practice and a chance to improve. That's what we're here for."

"For those of you worried about my qualifications," aside from the fact that Max was huge, "back home I'm combat instructor with the military." No need to get into too many details there. "I'll try not to yell too much since you're all here on your own time, but if I slip, hopefully you'll forgive me."

"I know that some of you are new to this while some of you have a lot of experience fighting. Help each other out. You don't have to have me for every little thing."

"And with all that out of the way. Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Antillar Maximus. Max. I'm a combat veteran. Served in multiple campaigns with the legions. Most of my experience is with swords," and bar fights, "but I'm proficient with most hand-to-hand weapons." No guns though. He should remedy that at some point.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
So Jane had heard there was some sort of picnic going on, new people arriving and everything. She had done the usual stuff and kept herself away from that, well aware that there wasn't anyone in that crowd she knew, besides the customers that came to her store. The fact she was completely sure she wasn't going to find John on that crowd was another important factor, but she was trying not to think about that. Which in turn had made her a silent presense on the counter, almost like a living statue. She didn't feel like making drawings at the moment.

Strokes of Genius was open for business.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane had heard about the graduation, although she hadn't attended to it. There wasn't anyone she knew there that well, or family -and the official answer was that she didn't have family of any kind besides John, so...-. Still, it sounded as if the kids had had their good fun, so she was glad for them.

Sitting on her office, the woman was lazily making some sketches of what looked more and more like a couple of handguns which was probably an obsession, stopping from time to time to peek outside of it at the store, and then resuming her art.

Strokes of Genius was open for bsns.

Strokes of Genius

...Jane was starting to consider bringing a few of her guns to clean them while working. The probable mind scarring resulting of that to her assistants would be an prize she was willing to pay. Besides, they were strong girls -one of them even had a killer vibe Jane wa surprised to find on the island-.

Still, that was a nice, weapons-free day in Strokes of Genius.
[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com
Seriously. Seriously, how had it gotten to be finals week already? It was a very good question, a pressing one even --

And one Katchoo would have been contemplating at extensive, broody length all day today if not for an inexplicable and persistent earworm of "Like a Prayer," and she had no idea what that was all about.

But there was humming going on, and on the bright side she . . . was on the bright side, comparatively. That was a little scary in and of itself. Quite possibly, the entire atmosphere of the store felt off as a result.

[OOC: The OCD is staying home to rewatch last night's Glee multiple times. Slower-than-usual SP highly likely today due to new insane project of doom. Send booze.]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane was being awfully silent, the assault rifle broken into all it's tiny parts as she cleaned it with a creepy loving smile. Well, she loved the damn thing, and by then she had assumed nobody would freak out if they entered her office and saw the weapon. It was a really cute weapon, or so she thought.

Anyway, they were on business as usual on Stroke of Genius.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Today was supposed to be an unlucky day, and Jane wondered if that applied for Fandom as well. She had gone to work anyway, and considered that if she stayed inside of the store nothing would happen. Hopefully.

So yeah, Jane was behind her desk, drawing guns on a canvas.

Strokes of Genius was open none the less~

[OCD free due to brain being dead. Yeah, I fell in the vice too :O]
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
The "paintings" from yesterday? Jane was now dealing with some pretty elaborate...doodles, which could or couldn't have been images of people walking down a park, or a dog with ten legs. It also looked like an octopus when you squinted your eyes...

She had painted something at least.

Welcome to Strokes of Genius~
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Today Jane was...melancholic; she had picked a canvas, and was drawing shadowy figures with black paint, looking from time to time from her office, as she had decided to stay there for...well, some time.

That didn't mean Strokes of Genius weren't open for the public.

She missed her John.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane has moved from watching her empty sketchpad and she had actually made a couple of drawings; they were mostly just figures or people walking -and buying stuff, figures-, but she was happy to know she wasn't actually horrible at drawing. Now she was working on another idea, this one with more details; it was an impressively good looking drawing of a sniper rifle; the woman had gone crazy and mixed several of favorites, so the weapon looked rather imposing, and certainly deathly.

Time flies when you have this much fun, and Strokes of Genius was running for the public.
[identity profile] likexmasmorning.livejournal.com
Jane was getting the hang of it already.

Sketchpad opened on her desk, she had taken her time to open a organize everything her incredibly useful assistants have decided to throw at random places -she was specially suspicious of the blond, grumpy one-; it wasn't a bother to her though, since she liked ordering things. It had been all placed where it belonged -or where she thought it belonged anyway-, and she was enjoying the minutes of silence without customers to try a few sketches. She hadn't drawn a thing so far, but she was getting there. Totally.

Strokes of Genius was open.
