Strokes of Genius, Wednesday (April 21)
Seriously. Seriously, how had it gotten to be finals week already? It was a very good question, a pressing one even --
And one Katchoo would have been contemplating at extensive, broody length all day today if not for an inexplicable and persistent earworm of "Like a Prayer," and she had no idea what that was all about.
But there was humming going on, and on the bright side she . . . was on the bright side, comparatively. That was a little scary in and of itself. Quite possibly, the entire atmosphere of the store felt off as a result.
[OOC: The OCD is staying home to rewatch last night's Glee multiple times. Slower-than-usual SP highly likely today due to new insane project of doom. Send booze.]

"Katina," he announced (it felt like a 'Katina' sort of day) as he entered the store. "You're humming."
... sort of not acknowledge it, anyway.
[[ omfg, Glee so awesome.

like someone rewound that scene on the TiVo about ten times last nightfor some reason," she said offhandedly. As earworms went, it could be a hell of a lot worse so she wasn't annoyed yet.. . . give her a couple of hours, then she might be throwing things.

"Starve? Me? Remember who I live with?"

So maybe he was mocking her as a form of stress relief. Don't deter him now.

"Geez, what, I'm supposed to just frikkin' cough up all this info for you?" Mmmm, stonewalling as friendly banter. To a degree. "Not like you ever just up and tell me what you've been up to."

He hopped up on the desk.
"Who said I went back to the dorms?" he asked.

Privacy, party of two after spending the night winding each other up outside on the lawn, but details, details.

Have a boss materializing out of thin air right next to you. Because yes, Jane was there. She was always there. And yet, having the blonde girl humming was rather...perplexing.
"Is everything alright?"
no subject
Not that Katchoo's shoulders had gotten into the rhythm-keeping action or anything like that. Shh.
"Boss person." At least she recovered fairly quickly. "It's fine now. Ask me again in a few hours if I can't get this damn song out of my head."
no subject
"Jane. Jane Smith....but Jane is fine too." Actually, she preferred to be called just Jane, but there was no need to stress if further, for now. "It's a rather enjoyable tune though, and some humming won't do awfully bad for the business, I guess."
no subject
"Jane," she repeated, holding a hand out for a very cautious shake (which was a pretty good way of figuring some things out about a person). "Katina. You should've seen the day the vice-principal got bitten by a gremlin and came in here thinkin' he was Rick Astley. If there'd been customers in here at the time they'd have been running like their asses were on fire."

Hm, or just keep it as a secret and be done with it.
Katina's hand was met by a confident, yet careful shake from Jane's. She also made sure to keep eye contact at every moment; it wasn't unknown to her that employees used to measure their employers to know how much freedom they could have around them, or if they deserved any respect at all. While Jane didn't want to have slave for assistants, she would be displeased if someone considered she was fool material.
"Miss Katina? Or Katina only? And that should have been a bad day for business, I assume; from what I have lived i Fandom so far, the population is already willing to accept that weird things will happen now and then." And so was she, as long as she had her guns nearby.

"Just Katina, please. Or --" This wasn't an offer she normally extended to people who weren't close friends, but 'Miss Katina' made her think of her name the way Darcy had said it, and she could do without that variety of unsettled. "Katchoo, actually. That was actually a pretty entertaining day. Some of the people here are willing to accept the weird things; some of us are just hopelessly resigned to it."

Her inclusion on the group that just resigned was greeted with a warm smile. "For what is worth, I'll make sure nothing disturbs this place." She stopped for a second, considering whether she should try to keep talking with her, or if they had reached the invisible time limit conversations seemed to have; there was only a few things less annoying than a overly talkative adult, after all. "Your studies are about to end, right? For what I know, students leave once they graduate. I don't want to assume anything, but I would like to know your medium term plans regarding...well, what you plan to do next. Paige Matthews already asked to work here, but I think three people and myself can still work properly here."
