There was nothing like soft baked sugar cookies. They automatically could make Haley's day, which is why she was grinning widely as she munched on them behind the counter while flipping through a magazine of various bike parts.

On the stereo, she had Def Leppard blasting. It was odd how long she had gone without playing them in the store, but she fell back into the music easily enough, even tempted to air drum at certain parts.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Feeling better than she had in a while, Haley was wide awake, only slightly bruised and achy from her excruciating workout yesterday, and moving things around to make room for the new inventory.

On the stereo, there was a slight change of pace as Haley opted for Outkast over her usual classic rock stuff. It had been a while since she had listened to them, but they were still on her iPod and she could still shake it like a Polaroid picture.

Of course, she just looked a little dorky doing it.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Feeling a bit gloomy with the cloudy weather, Haley didn't feel like moving from behind the desk much; even though, there was a bunch of new inventory sitting in the back room waiting to be sorted out.

No, instead, she was just sitting there like a lazy bum, occasionally zoning out to Pink Floyd and munching on chocolate chip cookies. Rain and all, Fridays were becoming worse than Mondays for her. Of course, she was pretty sure just the two hours of sleep didn't help either.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Far too restless for a Saturday morning, Haley opened up shop earlier than usual. She wasn't sure what was making her past out and wake up early, but part of her thought it might be stress; you know, like her mind was all mixed up.

She wasn't stressed about Fandom as much as the fact that another school year was starting and she still didn't feel like going. Haley was never a very enthusiastic scholar to begin with, but with pretty generous scholarship offers all over the place and Burt telling her she didn't have any reason not to go, it was tough.

Sitting behind the counter, she was a bit reclusive, Blind Faith on the speakers being her only real comfort for the moment.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
With boredom approaching and nothing on television except for Spanish telenovelas, Haley had actually spent all of last night watching Mi Pequeño Amor despite having no idea what any of the characters were saying.

Luckily, Spanish soap operas were over-acted enough to vaguely understand just by each character's actions what was going on. Plus, the girlfights were epic.

Anyway, her late night curiosity the night before had now left her with a Spanish for dummies book in her hands as she sat behind the counter of the shop.

Def Leppard as background music, she occasionally repeated words from the book as best as she could, slowly learning that Spanish was much harder than Coralito made it seem.

(Oops, my bad! Changed, but still ocdless)
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
After finishing with some new inventory, Haley decided to rummage through a random box of things she's had forever behind her desk at the shop. Little did she know, they in that box she would find almost every single mix cd that Poot and Frank had made for her over the past three years.

There was a 'Gangsta' cd with a mix of Notorious B.I.G., Public Enemy, and the Beastie Boys to name a few. There was a 'Funktastic' cd with mostly 80's and 70's funk all the way from "Funkytown" to "Electric Avenue". There were definitely more than a couple rock n' roll mixes. Not to mention, the really hard rock shit that only Poot seemed to know about.

She had some of the music on her iPod already, but most of it was just on the discs.

So, obviously, she was going to be on the hunt for a cd player that she could hook up to the speakers after work.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Haley was finishing up the day with a little ZZ Top as she sat behind the counter in her usual chair. Occasionally playing a little air guitar along with it, she tried to contain herself only because she knew a customer could come in any minute.

Feeling twitchier by the moment, she wasn't sure how long she could hold out.

After all, air guitar could be considered an art form and artistic expression whether on a bike, blades, or nothing was what the shop was all about.

(Open as always! However, there might be a bit of SP with my college besties finally coming to see me.)
[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com
Geoffrey was not in the best of moods. In fact, 'good' seemed to have no place around him as he seemed to have an ice pack against his jaw. Asking why was certainly not a 'good' idea. He definitely wasn't drinking 'good' coffee by the expression on his face, and any 'good' humor he had about things was going to be used up, no doubt, by his actors.

He did seem to have a 'good' grasp on the razor that flicked between his lips every few minutes, sore jaw bedamned.

"Get on the stage and not one word that starts with 'b' that wasn't written by four hundred years ago."

A mix of rap and rock music coming from her boombox, a big bag of peanut M&Ms, and tequila being the choice liquor for the night, Haley and Two-tone were settled by the MHA pool.

They were in their own individual bathing suits with a plan to dive in together; at the moment, they were just dangling their feet into the pool though. Trying to toss M&Ms into each other's mouths and taking a shot for every time they heard a sexual reference in a song, they were already pretty drunk after some Motley Crue, but still playing their game and contemplating more rebellious things to do together.

Of course, anyone, curious neighbors or just random people passing by, are welcome to see where the music and laughter is coming from and join in the fun.

Two-tone out of his usual iPod form is a rarity that should be treasured.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
With a large cup of coffee, a bottle of water, two toasted cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese, a big bag of pita chips, a bar of peanut brittle, and gummy worms to eat, Haley was just rocking out to the Doobie Brothers and chowing down as she sat at the counter. It wasn't often that the girl had much of a breakfast appetite, but when she did, she had a big one.

That said, she was also aware that the island had just shipped in a bunch of new people, so she had made up two signs and put 'em in the window.

Loki had two fucking offices. It wasn't a new fact, it was just one he liked to revel in sometimes. The one in the building was a lot bigger than the one he had at the school and it was his so he finally got around to decorating it. The desk was tucked into a corner, looking fucking professional as hell. He'd made a good damn choice. Loki was lounging in a matching chair, feet up on the desk. A lounger was at the other end of the office and was only there because Loki had always fucking wanted one. There was a laptop on the desk though it was closed because fuck if Loki was going to do work when he'd installed a television (on top of one of the file cabinets) and one of his many video game systems.

He was on a fucking break, okay.

To keep up the tone of the professional environment, several posters decorating the walls. He was such a fucking good landlord.

He was working fucking hard.

Luke's Diner, Thursday

Priestly had just this morning managed to convince his mother that he didn't have to go home for the Fourth of July. Having a responsibility to assist a new, incoming student had helped. Alas, he'd had to compromise by promising to come home for a long weekend at the end of July instead, but that was forever away.

So it was a very cheerful Priestly in the diner, today. So much so that he didn't even mind the kitchen staff's teasing. In fact, he was in such a good mood that he went a little crazy with the specials sign.

Today's Specials
10% off anything!

He might regret that later when he realized the 10% was probably going to come from his paycheck.

With the air conditioning finally working again, and the party this past weekend working as an antidote to her homesick feeling, Haley was in a pretty good mood as she opened up shop.

In fact, given an extra boost of energy by a Gogol Bordello playlist and a large cup of coffee, she was actually finishing up the window display that she had started working on last week. It wasn't that the display was taking her long to set up; she had just been really lazy about it before.

Anyway, as she continued to work, Haley knew that it wouldn't be the best window display ever, but it was something; it was something that would hopefully bring a few more customers in.

If the window display didn't work? Well, who could resist gypsy punk?

While the students had been completing their last finals, an NPC staff had been hard at work converting one of the empty warehouses into the site of tonight's dance. When the guests arrived this evening, they'd be greeted by a long yellow carpet, leading up to the open glass doors of the warehouse.

Once inside, they would find the space brightly decorated to celebrate the summer season. Gold drapes covered the walls, splashed liberally with glitter to make them sparkle in the low lights of the warehouse. Flowers were placed here and there, not overwhelming but definitely noticeable and fragrant. Images of beaches, palm trees, sunsets, sunrises, hammocks, and other various summer images were being projected on the walls randomly.

A long table consisting of food and drinks was along one wall, providing plenty of sustenance for everyone for their long night of fun. Dark corners could be found here and there, of course. There was music playing and a disco balls projecting light onto the dance floor.

It was time for the summer dance.

This morning, Haley had opened shop to find a surprise; it really wasn't anything special or even anything nice. Instead, the air conditioning in the shop had decided to stop working for some odd reason.

Shrugging off the slight heat in the morning, she had to open up the doors around noon for some air circulation as the heat and humidity seemed to be ten times worse then she originally thought it could be. In fact, she actually decided to avoid the heat inside for a few moments by working just outside the shop to put a small wooden ramp together for her new window display.

The ramp looked pretty easy to put together and she sort of knew her way around with nails and a hammer. So, with a bottle of water and Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath" playing loudly over the store's stereo system, Haley was feeling optimistic.

After all, if Ian Anderson could incorporate the flute into good ol' rock n' roll, she could definitely put a small skate ramp together, right?

Anyone who came to rehearsal would notice the store-bought brace in Geoffrey's ankle, as well as the fact that he was hobbling around. Someone had missed a puddle of sludge and slipped in it this morning.

"Thank you very much, all of you, for your help last Thursday. Rest assured, that will not happen again, and we should be able to proceed with rehearsals sans mops. We're finishing the play up for the first time on stage today, so considering that, if anyone has any choreography experience, they really should talk to Tony."

He grinned and slapped his hands together.

"And now? Let's get this show on the road."

Loki was having an easy day today. He wasn't by the pool or behind his desk. He was, instead, in the comfy lobby seats, occasionally marking some things on the sheets of paper in his lap and listening to music on the uncomfortable (he so preferred headphones) iPod while he did it.

Sure, there were things that needed to be done around the apartment and he could have always gone to the mainland and tried to see Metatron but what fun was that when he could be lazy and make lesson plans?

Oh, fucking fuck, he was old.

[open, yes yes]
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Mysteriously tired from nothing but just a normal night last night, Haley was sipping on coffee between runs from the back to the front with new inventory. She was quick in getting the few new bikes out as she eyed one for herself.

Now, don't get her wrong, Haley loved her older, worn in green BMX bike, but this bike was just shiny; it was shiny and something she knew she could spend plenty of money on without feeling any guilt. Plus, she was surrounded by possible upgrades for it too, not that she could see any that it needed.

Seriously thinking about buying it as she continued moving the new stuff out to the showroom, Haley wondered if it was really such a bad thing that she was probably her own best customer.
[identity profile] darkangelsawyer.livejournal.com
Peyton wasn't feeling particularly groovy today. In a way she was glad to have finally talked things out with Dean, but she couldn't say it made her feel any better.

Groovy Tunes was open.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
Haley wasn't feeling very well. Her bruised shoulder had turned an ugly yellow color overnight and she had a headache that seemed to be the size of Texas. Nevertheless, she was somehow up, somewhat dressed, and in her chair behind the counter in the shop as always.

She had a plastic bag of ice on her shoulder and jug of orange juice on the counter that she was just sort of staring at; she wasn't sure if it had gone bad, and she really just wanted coffee instead. Haley was kind of afraid that coffee would only make her headache worse though, not that the headache being any worse seemed possible anyway.

Her usual music was on low for the moment, but her colorful help wanted sign was still in the window.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
It was weird. Haley thought she had already worked out all her pent up sexual frustration, but apparently, that feeling? You know, the one that made it seem like she needed some lovin' just to keep sane or something? It had resurfaced...with a vengeance.

Holding it in, she composed herself enough to get dressed and get to work. With the usual help wanted sign in the window, she settled behind the counter.

Her smile was innocent and her posture was comfortable as she kind of skimmed through a magazine, but her thoughts, and even her playlist in the shop for the day, weren't quite so clean. The first song over the speakers, "Ready for Love" by Bad Company pretty much summed that up, and the next consecutive song, "Touch Too Much" by AC/DC, just shamelessly confirmed it to no end.
[identity profile] i-lovedfalling.livejournal.com
The walk to Guilty as Charged was more difficult than usual with the alligators and their unfortunate habit of spitting goldfish. In fact, the only reason Haley figured she avoided getting bit was because she was on wheels and she had fast reflexes to avoid them. Otherwise, she was sure it wouldn't have been pretty.

When she arrived at the shop, Haley figured that she probably wouldn't get any customers today with all the craziness, but she opened up anyway.

Lounging in her chair behind the counter and eating a crushed up bag of ramen as the hot option on her water cooler was broken, she was sort of dreading the walk home.

Unlike last week, Marshall's pants were thankfully sand free. He was celebrating that fact by...well, by actually showing up to work. Oh, and also by throwing olives at Tino. Call it weird smelling confetti.

There were days that Loki truly didn't want to do any work. This was one of those days. Of course, he made his way out into the lobby anyway and flopped down in one of the chairs just to give the illusion that was fucking working. He pulled his baseball cap low and stuck on a pair of sunglasses to further that illusion.

Of course, he wasn't sleeping, just daydreaming so sneaking up on wouldn't do you an ounce of good. He just hoped something fucking happened today to stimulate him. He was going to end up actually flying if this kept up.

It was a holiday, Brooke didn't have anywhere to be, and the fact that she was the first one out here had her tsk'ing. It didn't occur to her that maybe people had classes, and things to do. If it had, she would have pitied them.

She laid out a towel and sat down in her bathing suit, wondering if she shouldn't have just organized a barbecue party, if she hadn't seen any others advertised. Oh, well, another time. Besides, she completely assumed people would gravitate here anyway.

It was a really nice day; a really nice day littered with...Canadian moose? Naturally, Haley was surprised by the moose at first. After a couple minutes of observation, they didn't seem so bad though. In fact, she figured that although their appearance was sudden and a little invasive in some cases, they were better then Argentinean vampire bats or African lions. Those things were vicious.

Wondering if Canadian moose liked Chunky Monkey ice cream, organizing random paperwork, and waiting for any other potential customers, her colorful help wanted sign was still hung in the window.

Marshall had called in work sick with "sand in the pants". Riggins didn't particularly need to know this highly disturbing fact but Tino was all too willing to share this information when he came in for a beer. Somehow this led to some chatting and Riggins eventually found himself behind the bar working in exchange for free beer all night.

He felt this was a pretty good deal considering he could drink a lot of beer.

There was only so much time any man could spend in a house with Arnold Rimmer, and Mitchell had realised that you weren't likely to do a lot of joining humanity when you were skulking around a place at the back of the island all the time.

So in an attempt to acquaint himself with his new neighbours, he got up fresh and early to make a run for the bakery. (Okay, the baked goods themselves might have also had something to do with it) He was in a well enough mood upon arrival, ordering a selection of a few things before taking a seat.

He popped a cookie into his mouth and got to people-watching.

With Sunday being her only day off, Haley wanted to make sure she spent her time wisely. So, she decided to sleep late, waking up to begin with a three hour workout. She ran for an hour and a half before coming back to the apartment building and grabbing her iPod player to stretch and practice her flips on the grass.

She did a full routine's worth of round off bandspring backtucks, cartwheels, rolls, and walkovers. Once or twice, she fell on her ass, but for the majority of moves, she stuck her landings. It made her feel good; it made her feel right on track despite having to be her own coach.

As she finished, she just laid back on the grass for a moment. With Iron Maiden loudly coming over her iPod boombox thing, the sun began to beam down directly on her and she started to consider a jump into the pool.

It was the first day of work at Book Haven for Jess, and he had to admit that he'd kind of been looking forward to it. This was the first job he had that didn't involve constantly moving around and fetching things for people he didn't like, and he was pretty sure he could deal with whatever else Millie, or Fandom, threw at him. Today Jess still had the whole store to explore, and that was pretty awesome as far as he was concerned.

Sure, Loki had just done some work on Sunday but Tuesday was his day to open the apartments so he was out there. Or, well, he was sprawled in his favorite chairs, baseball hat on and iPod (the fucking technology of this decade was amazing) ear buds in and turned up as high as it would go. He didn't know who the fuck this person was or even if the music was good but he didn't care. He had the iPod, he had the music, he was going to damn well use it.

Sure, there was shit he could do around the building but why do that when he basically had an unpaid grounds guy in the form of that student who Ronon supervised every Saturday. Students needed to get detention more often.

Maybe he could give detentions. His first fucking class was tomorrow, in fact. He'd have to look into that.

It was easy to get an open space and send out for stuff; setting up the shop was another thing though. Getting the skateboards up, the various bikes in, and the clothing racks organized seemed to take her forever. Haley didn't mind the work, but she was just anxious to open up.

With a graffiti style sign finally set above the shop and an amazing window display, she was ready. Haley wasn't exactly sure how many customers she would get, but she figured that there had to be, at least, a couple other wheel crazy freaks like her.

So, she's behind the counter, browsing through a magazine and sipping a ginger ale. The door's open, Motorhead's greatest hits are coming through the store speakers, and air conditioning is cooling the whole store off nicely.

Tyler knew there would be some new responsibilities that went with his summer managing gig at the gym. New challenges, even. He would welcome that.

He just didn't expect the new challenge on his first day to be banana skins heaped on each of the gym's treadmills. Squinting, he tried to will them to pick themselves up (which didn't work) before starting to collect the banana skins, trying not to fall down himself.

This might be a very long day.

It was never easy being the new girl in town, but Haley figured she could manage it. Sure, it had only been a couple days and she already missed VGA and Frank and Poot like crazy, but she was pushing through it; her almost suicidal workouts were mostly responsible for it.

Actually, she's in the park right now, killing her still somewhat out of shape self. See, she's checked out the local gym and it's really nice, but she likes the humid conditions and sweating like a pig; her workout doesn't exactly feel complete otherwise. It's her usual routine with lots of jogging and some round off bandspring backtucks, cartwheels, rolls, and walkovers on the grass.

Oh, and music. She's got a her iPod clipped on her hip with a half and half playlist of her favorites, Led Zeppelin and The Ramones. The boys keep her going.
