Geez, where the (#@% had the break week gone already? Katchoo wasn't ready to start classes yet, dammit. In a desperate attempt to stave off the impending new workshop session, she was actually straightening up around the store. (It was dicey logic, yes. But it was also something she just about never did.)

Clocky, judging from the staccato beeping, was shocked.

Not that Katchoo blamed it.

[OOC: There's a starman waiting in the sky; he'd like to have OCD but he thinks he'd blow our minds. So there is none. Ha.]

Jennifer was back to her usual, extra-studious self today. Probably because she didn't have school work to focus on.

If anyone needed her, though, she'd help them! She was nice like that.

It was already late and Irulan opened the shop a lot later than she'd intended. She was exhausted from the trip to Arrakis and the activities that went on there. Irulan didn't realize how much she missed the sands of Arrakis. She placed Miss Jackie Brown-Blue's flyer on the counter.

She posted a sign on the door:
Now Hiring, please inquire inside!

Maron stifled a yawn, rubbing at her eyes.

So tired. Hopefully the coffee she’d picked up from the Perk would kick in soon.

Yes, Maron had bought coffee for herself. Maron was probably the last person (with the exceptions of, in her opinion, quite possibly, Zack) who needed coffee. Oh well.

Just... give it time to kick in.

Dinah was not usually one to mope-- in fact, that was antithetical to any religion she might have-- but the bad dreams on Arrakis, argument with Merlin, and now Tony leaving for a semester had left her in a definite mental place to play the blues.

Therefore, the plants were listening to Roy Orbison today.

It had been a long time since Lindsay had heard anything from Jacobi. Ex-partner or no the last argument they had back in November had put up a rift between them. Even when Lindsay had gone back to San Francisco when Cindy was shot, Warren spent most of the week giving her the cold shoulder.

So it was a little bit of a surprise to find an e-mail from him sitting in her mailbox.

After a couple hours of inner monologging and debate she gave him a call. After five minutes of awkward conversation and then another twenty minutes of talking shop, they soon began to fall into their old routine of teasing and it was almost as if the argument never happened.

Except for the fact they were on different coasts and not working together.

Twenty minutes after that? Lindsay was looking over crime scene photos on her computer screen as Jacobi went over a case he was having problems with.

He wasn't sure if he wanted to kiss his little technical analyst or kill her as he directed the NPCs guys he'd hired off the street for the day to bring in the merchandise. It was amazing that she'd managed to get everything bought and delivered at exactly the right time and on the right day, but there was still so much to do. Thankfully, the interior had already contained most of what he'd needed to set up shop and the place was clean; repair enough old houses and you get a certain appreciation for a bug, rat, mice and feral-cat free place.

Now it was just a matter of installing the sign and getting the merchandise stowed. The guys were taking care of the latter, so the former fell to him.

"Fun times," he muttered, if only to himself, as he started up the ladder.

[feel free to come by and say hello even though the store isn't open; if your character would like a few bucks, he might even hire you to help]

Pensive!Peyton was pensive today, what with Brooke leaving and wondering what she was actually going to do when she herself left. And with the CD finished and nothing to do but wait...

Well... sketching was in order. And loud music.

Stalls were cleaned, horses cared for, everything was spic and span in a few hours. Then Helen was free to spend the rest of the time with the horses.

She's easy enough to find if anyone needs anything.

Except of course for the hour or so when she took off for her lunch break and went to meet Harry.
[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com
Helen had never done anything like this before. In fact, she still couldn't believe she was doing it now. Still... here she was, sitting at a table and trying not to look too nervous as she waited.

[ooc: Helen's here to meet someone, but The Perk is open for all your Perk-y needs.]

Millie was most content to curl up in one of the big chairs and read while she waited for customers. Or for anyone who might be looking for a job.

Luke's Diner, Thursday

Priestly had just this morning managed to convince his mother that he didn't have to go home for the Fourth of July. Having a responsibility to assist a new, incoming student had helped. Alas, he'd had to compromise by promising to come home for a long weekend at the end of July instead, but that was forever away.

So it was a very cheerful Priestly in the diner, today. So much so that he didn't even mind the kitchen staff's teasing. In fact, he was in such a good mood that he went a little crazy with the specials sign.

Today's Specials

He might regret that later when he realized the 10% was probably going to come from his paycheck.

It was a mellow sort of day for Jon, tomorrow was the picnic and chaos and newbies. So he decided to veg a bit while at work. The stereo was playing The Doors, Stones and Hendrix, with a little Clapton and Santana tossed in for fun, while Jon himself restocked and cleaned up the shop.

[The OCD stole a skateboard and hit the park.]

York Gallery [7/2]

Eve was in a decent mood as she opened the gallery, not too solemn but not too bouncy, either. It was just one of those middle-of-the-road kind of days.

Plus, hey, newbie shuttle! Newbie shuttle meant an influx of new people to get to know and terrorize. For a couple weeks, anyway.

After she finished with opening the gallery, Eve sat at the desk and started writing a list of notes for K-Mart about Savannah. Because if anybody could tell the best friend how to keep Savannah upbeat (or at least as upbeat as possible) now that Johnny was gone, it was Eve. And yes, she titled it "The Care and Feeding of Savannah Levine."

Well, apparently Ben actually was given a job last week. He wasn't sure it counted when the old boss was leaving a couple days after offering the job, but Tino was waiting for Ben when he showed up tonight.

He'd had a few practice runs as a bartender here, so this wasn't going to be tough. At least, it wasn't until Tino started trying to haze the new guy. "Look, I know you can't use the paddle in here. Just put it away."

Tino refused.

It was kind of creepy.

[OOC: I refuse to leave Caritas.]

Tim had found the holosuite entirely by accident. He'd noticed that the control panel seemed similar to the danger shop.

Now he was using the suite for target practice. He'd used the program to simulate a fence with a number of cans and bottles.

This was as fancy as he could manage so far.

[Open! Come join Tim for target practice or just boggle that this thing is here.]
