Allie came into the bar, looked around, and shook her head. "I don't even want to know."

Since today was the Welcome Picnic, there was always a chance of a new adult in town. That meant an update to the drink special. New in town? First drink is on the bartender.

Allie burst through the bar at vamp speed, slowing as she reached the bar and pulled her sword off her shoulder. "Stupid Portalocity," she muttered in answer to Tiny's unasked question. "I don't want to talk about it."

Allie had spent most nights the last week skulking around trying to figure out what was up with this round of island weirdness. Aside from a mental note of "avoid the holes", something that wasn't too difficult with vampire speed, she was stumped.

Tiny was behind the bar and Allie was doing some therapy throwing axes.
allie_vamp: (pretty)

Allie had finally made it back to the island after several weeks of tense negotiations with a few Vampire Princes. She'd noticed a few missing buildings on the island and was settled in behind the bar catching up on radio to see what the hell was up this week.
allie_vamp: (pretty 4)

There were gremlins throwing axes and drinking beer.

Allie was keeping both her distance and a wary eye on the goings-on.

Her sword was in reach. Just in case.

Knowing there were new people in town, Allie made a note on the special's board.

First drink is on me if you're new in town.

Allie still wasn't sure what had happened to bring this bout of weirdness to an end. She'd gotten separated from Jessica in course of slashing through vines in the tower, and missed whatever final battle must have happened. Fortunately she'd been able to get back to her place before the last of the clouds parted and rays of the sun got too strong.

Everything seemed normal as Allie walked through the park. Which wasn't surprising, but it still never hurt to check.
allie_vamp: (Default)
[personal profile] allie_vamp
For a change Allie was still on the island and not doing her usual vaccine supply run back home. Instead she spent the night patrolling the island before finally settling in a bench in the park and sending some texts to some old friends. Maybe they'd understand that bad feeling she had.

Allie was behind the bar with her nose buried in her phone, who knew Regency romances could be so engrossing?

Allie was feeling quite satisfied when she got to work. She was even more satisfied to find out once again she seemed to have missed out a visiting child of her own. Allie was many things. Maternal was not one of them.

To pass the time she was looking up parent-themed drinks on her phone.

The danger with having Tino around during weeks like this was that Kitty would come in and find specials like

SPECIALS
SAY A DIRTY DRINK NAME, GET IT FOR FREE

"You realize I'm going to have to look a lot of them up," Kitty told him.

Unsurprisingly, Tino didn't care.

Allie and Tiny were behind the bar watching the latest monster movie on Tiny's tablet. If they both kept snickering because one of the actors looked a lot like Eric, they'd never tell.

There was a bar, and a vampire practicing her ax-throwing skills. But she'd happily make you a drink if you wanted one.

At some point, Allie realized that she should probably spend some time in Fandom, instead of her current schedule of spending the week in New Eden and then heading back to Fandom for her shift. But that was a decision for another week. For now, Allie was at the bar, nursing a bottle of True Blood and debating some more ax throwing.

Knowing Three Minute Dates was happening at Caritas, Allie didn't expect it to be too busy. But just in case someone was looking for a quiet drink, the vampire was behind the bar.

Allie was making use of the axe throwing targets tonight.

Her aim needed some improvement, but that's what practice was for, at least until someone needed a drink.

Allie had spent way more time then she was willing to admit binging a certain Regency romance series on Netflix. Which meant of course she downloaded the all the books in the series and was settled in behind the bar with her nose in her phone.

Things were quiet as Allie made her way to the Devil's Nest. Tiny had a glass of cheap tequila and was muttering quietly about evil reindeer. Knowing how these things worked, Allie could only assume Team White Hat had saved the day while she was sleeping. Sometimes being a creature of the night has its drawbacks.

The bar was open and the bartender was disappointed.

So. These ice angels were now a thing, in addition to the candy canes, and the marzipan boulders, and the icicles from the sky. And now there were also rivers of hot chocolate and - look, she might have been used to human criminals, but Annie knew what she needed to do, all the same.

It seemed like a good time to get the cape out, was Starlight's thinking. While her one failed patrol of the island had been - well, exactly that, a bit of a failure - today seemed like a real opportunity to do some good.

She'd pulled on her sparkly winter tights and rolled on some thick socks under her boots (because that was the biggest acquiescence to the weather in this outfit, winter tights and wool socks. Best not to question it) before tucking her phone into the pouch on her belt and heading out to patrol the streets.

She was staying vigilant between blasting those creepy snow angels as they snuck up on her (it was extremely satisfying to make them break apart, let Starlight tell you, though she'd totally taken some ice claws to the face and it did not feel great no matter how bulletproof one's skin was.) She was getting pretty good at getting the candy canes as they sprang up, too, though of course now she had to watch her footing lest she fall into some hot chocolate. (The staining potential was the scariest part of all of this, to her.)

Most importantly, she was available to escort anyone who seemed to need protection just trying to get around, since the island was not exactly making that prospect easy.

Happily Allie was not hungover when she got to work. In fact, she was in surprisingly good spirits and was happy to scratch the ears of one of the tiny horses that kept trying to feed her marzipan. "No, I'm sorry. I can't eat it."

Allie wasn't religious, but she still gave a small thank you to whatever diety watched over wayward vampires that she had not woken up with hooves this morning. She got to the bar and began to root around in search of large bowls. No sense risking the glassware this evening.

This afternoon, Lucifer and Miss Lopez had somehow gotten into an escalating battle of challenges over text. It had ended in a link to a YouTube video and express instructions to play that, record it, and send it back, lest Lucifer be forced to forfeit this impromptu game of Truth or Dare.

Obviously, it wasn't much of a dare, and at the last minute, he'd veto'd Miss Lopez's insistence he should do it 'shirtless, or at least wearing a funny t-shirt or something'.

Either way, Tiny was stuck on filming duty while Lucifer really dug into the best of Latin pop with every fiber of his being.

Danny wasn't avoiding Steve after the whole Halloween fiasco, he was just not fighting Steve avoiding him. Which was basically the same thing in their friendship, but whatever.

So, he was just gonna spend some time dealing with the weird paperwork that came from this apartment building.

"How many weird errors am I gonna get in that room?" he muttered to himself, looking at the newest one: ERR Christmas Too Early.

Allie was enjoying the clear night air as she made her way down the long-abandoned highway towards Old DC. It had been nearly a year since she’d last visited Azura’s city, and if Allie was honest with herself, she’d missed the Vampire Prince. They’d developed a grudging respect for one another in the years since the first time Allie had shown up with a package of the vaccine against Rabidism that had been developed in Eden.

The sudden glimpse of light through the trees was not exactly unexpected. Allie had looked for it every time she’d traveled this way for the last six years. But she wasn’t willing to get her hopes up. Not yet. Not until she could be sure. Jumping gracefully over the concrete barrier on the side of the road, she started making her way towards the light.

Devil's Nest

Prom was tonight. Which really shouldn't matter since the clientele of the Devil's Nest was usually older then the high school crowd, but no matter what, Allie was behind the bar, ready to serve any paying customers.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Since half the island was off on the trip, Allie expected the bar would be quiet tonight. But in case anyone was out an about the vampire was happily behind the bar, poking at links on her phone.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
"I know. I know. I'm late," Allie said as she rushed into the bar. "Stupid portal layover took longer then it was supposed to."

Tiny just grumbled and went back to washing glasses.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie was spending her evening poking around the internet and reading year end lists on her phone. She didn't know most of the celebrity names they were talking about but it still seemed like one hell of a long and depressing list.

Hopefully the next year would be better.
[identity profile] allie-in-the-au.livejournal.com
Allie remembered enough to know that there had once been a time when she hadn’t been constantly hungry. There’d been bottles of blood that weren’t the greatest in taste, but they’d served their purpose and kept the hunger at bay.

The bottles ran out a long time ago.

The Hunger never stopped. Alie did what she could to stop it with small donations from willing participants that wouldn't be too weakened by the blood loss. But there was one donor who wasn't so willing.

And sad things happen )

Raven was desperate to do something useful, so patrolling the edges of the park for any trouble that might threaten the makeshift village within seemed like a plan. She was frustrated by her inability to heal any of the "hollow" she'd encountered, and she was anxious to get Karla back to Glacia and (relative) safety, but she couldn't teleport off the island. On top of that, she knew there was another her running around somewhere out there. Talking to herself was both tempting and too strange at the same time.

So far everything seemed quiet along the outskirts of the village. Whether that would stay that way remained to be seen.

[Expecting one but open!]

The going was slow when you were a fifteen-foot monstrosity made of fire and molten stone. Or, rather, it felt that way. Every movement was a slow, deliberate one, but the extra height made up for it. One could clear a lot of road in a single step, when one was as tall as some of the buildings in town, after all.

So, what was the fifteen-foot monstrosity doing wandering the streets of town? If anybody asked Jonothon - and let's be real, most sane people probably wouldn't bother to try to strike up a conversation with him in the first place, and the island didn't typically have many of those left - he'd say he was doing patrols. Keeping an open psionic eye to be certain the hollows weren't wandering too close to the park. If you pressed him for a better answer, he might even give in and admit that curiosity had won out, that yesterday's flickers of sunshine and the wealth of new minds around the island today had him straying from the rocky bits mostly because... well... he needed to know.

But, of course, the going was slow. Not that he was in any particular hurry. It wasn't like the people here were going to be leaving any time soon, after all.

Another night of dark and fog.

Another night of keeping watch near the camp to make sure nothing too dangerous came near.

Her recent memories weren't too bad, but anything that happened more then a month or so in the past was hazy at best.

Allie remembered enough, impressions mostly - a laugh, the wind in her face as she drove down a highway - It was enough to remind her things hadn't always been so bleak.

And that she hadn't always been so hungry.

But that seemed like a lifetime ago.

[She's hungry. But harmless if you're a human or friendly sort]

Allie was scrolling through Black Friday sales on her phone and grumbling, "Why would you list something on sale if it isn't available at a store within a hundred miles of here?"

Tiny was at the far end of the bar with his head down. He'd been up way too late? early? in search of his own sales.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie was straightening up behind the bar while checking booze levels. It was Homecoming Weekend, you never knew who was going to need an excess of alcohol to survive.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie had her nose stuck in her book as Tiny flirted wtih the DJ.

In other words. It was just another night at the Devil's Nest.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie stalked into the bar and snarled at Tiny when he started muttering about her absence the past few weeks. "I don't want to talk about it! Stupid island!"

The bartender was in. And grumpy as hell.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
The island must have heard Allie's conversation with Peter last week and decided to be funny.

On the ground next to a tree deep in the preserve was a small pile of clothing and a sheathed katana. In the branches of the tree there was a large bat.

Stupid island.

[Off to the beach for a week!]
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
The island had shifted again. At least this time there was no screaming sun to keep Allie from getting to work on time.

Which meant a pouting Tiny was back to washing glasses behind the bar while she supervised.

[OCD free!]
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Tiny was actually vaguely concerned when Allie didn't show up for her shift at expected. At least until the DJ explained that the bright, screaming sun probably meant that she was at her apartment, still asleep.

You could almost see the light go off in Tiny's head. Five minutes later, the best of Gloria Gayner was playing, and Tiny was sipping a Mai Tai.

It was going to be one of those nights.

[Mod Tiny! Allie will be back when the sun sets]

Allie had been enjoying Fandom's summer tour and had spent most of her free time exploring the other planets. At least until this week. Cheese, sticky, gross, and kind of smelly. She was just going to stick to Fandom for the time being.

Tonight her plan was to practice some sword drills and do some reading. But first she was going to wait till the lure on the person-shaped crater in the park ran out. She almost had enough Magikarp to evolve one.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie wasn't sure what music the DJ was playing tonight. She happened to mention that to Tiny.

Guess who was getting a lesson in all things Hamilton for the night.

The bar was open.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie liked the island's summer routine. It meant she had a new place to explore every week. She was already counting the hours until her shift was over. But until then, there were Candy Crush levels to defeat.

The bartender was present, but slightly focused on her phone.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie had spent the better part of the last two weeks as a vampire bat.

Because the island had a stupid sense of humor.

But tonight she was back to normal and back behind the bar, checking to see Tiny didn't move too many things around.
[identity profile] allie-vamp.livejournal.com
Allie was making her usual late night pass through the preserve when suddenly there was a pile of dark clothing and a sword on the ground while a large bat swooped through the dark sky.

Stupid island.

[Off to Rome until the 14th. Don't have too much fun without me!]

Friday night of finals week. The Devil's Nest was open if any of the teachers felt like a drink to celebrate. Underage students might want to head to Caritas.

But until she was needed, Allie had her nose buried in a book. Go ahead, be shocked.

For now though, she was busy explaining to Tiny that no, he could not go as her plus one to Kitty's wedding.
