"THAT'S TOO MUCH ORANGE ZEST, ARE YOU BLIND?"

"GRAB THE BUTTER, YOU MORON!"

Vincent and the cook were watching the Food Network in the kitchen. Priestly sat on a counter behind them both, taking notes.

Eliot was avoiding the whole thing. And occasionally muttering about backseat chefs. And wondering when this weekend was going to end.

Today's specials
Spicy Orange Zest Beef
Oven roasted potatoes with orange zest
Orange cookies with sweet orange glaze

"The words 'orange zest' have lost all meaning," Priestly noted. Eliot sighed in agreement.

Luke's was open.

[and OCD free, and totally ripped off this, which was brought to my attention by the incomparable [livejournal.com profile] heromaniac.]

Glitter seemed to be a theme of the evening. There was glitter on the posters covering the walls, glitter on the plants printed on table cloths. Glitter on the fake full moon hanging in place of a mirror ball.

And of course, glitter on the banner hanging above the entrance.

Welcome to Homecoming 2012

Become a (wo)man.

Become a wolf.

Roy could have been out exploring Atlantis, before it sank and was eventually ruled by Aquaman. But he had responsibilities and such, so instead, he was doing research at a law office and composing a mocking e-mail to Garth.

Roy was so happy to not be a...panda...raccoon...thing, that he was happy to be looking up court cases, even! He'd gotten pretty decent at maneuvering through the system, since he'd started this job, so it was going smoothly today. So smoothly he could have taken a few breaks to play solitaire, but see above re: just happy to have thumbs.

Thumbs were awesome.

Roy was at work on Saturday, earning his keep by sorting through legal briefs. If his eyes were glazing over from time to time, well, that was what the coffee was for. Mmmmm, coffee.

Karla was back on Fandom again and, oddities of the morning aside--like waking up in the dorms--was pretty excited to be back on the island. After a brief practice with sticks in the preserve, she'd decided to look up some of her favorite places from her time here.

...Which had her heading to the ice cream store, obviously. Well, with a quick stop at the Perk for coffee. Funny how neither store had changed a bit. Even her coffee-maker back home looked more modern than that.

Of course, she had a Skywalker with a tinkering fetish in her Court, so maybe she wasn't the best judge of that.

Ordering a GIANT sundae for herself (she was a grown-up, she could have ice cream for breakfast if she wanted to), she made her way over to a table near one of the windows and settled in, looking for familiar faces.

Well, probably not so familiar anymore.

[Open like an ice cream store. FYI, Karla still looks pretty young, in her mid-twenties.]

If anyone could recall the dance from the night before, they would have thought that it was decorated tastefully compared to what was going on tonight. There were streamers, balloons and what appeared to be paper flower ornaments everywhere. All done in yellow and blue for the proud graduates of Fandom High, of course.

And there were the 'classic' songs from twenty years ago blaring loudly for people to dance or cringe to. Who knew Ke$ha and Justin Bieber would get to be classic pop music for future generations?

Just be glad there is an open bar.

Mmmm, delicious legal research.

Okay, not really, but Roy had stumbled across a few things that might be helpful to him in the future, should he return to a life of costumed concerned citizenry citizenry is still the wrong word, Roy, look it up and they made for fascinating reading. The parts that were in normal people English, anyway.

Cabot & Associates, open for all your legal assistance needs.

Now that the holidays were over, Roy could get back to his usual schedule, and back to making some money. It was kind of nice that things were back to normal on the island...or as normal as they ever got. He had a voicemail box full of weird messages he still hadn't dealt with. He at least needed to talk to Karla to find out if there were actually rumors about him being bicurious (not that he particularly cared, except for that if there were rumors about him in general, he kind of wanted to know). And he should probably find out at some point who it was that he was supposed to have seen in their bra, because he thought he would have remembered that. But all of that could wait for when he was not on company time. Company time was for filing, and research, and Spider Solitaire.

Cabot & Associates is open for all your legal and Roy-bothering needs.

The Homecoming Carnival was in full swing and decorated according to the theme: blues and greens of all sorts, and little fish decorations everywhere.

But that wasn't the important part, oh no.

The important part was how much fun could be had at all of the booths! Step up, step up! Take your chances!

Really, who would want to miss this?

Roy's nervous energy had caught up with him today, and he found himself jittering, drumming his fingers on the desk, itching with the need to do something. Which was so much better than itching with the need to shoot up that he would probably be happy about the situation if he wasn't going crazy.

Looking up legal documents was really not cutting it today, but hey, it was what he got paid for.

Cabot & Associates? Open.

After Quinn spoke with Santana at the picnic, it didn't take her long to realize she and Puck needed to meet up and do damage control. She'd been so focused on her mother and Finn that it hadn't even occurred to her that Puck might invite people, too. And she didn't need Santana Lopez thinking she had randomly gone crazy in two separate universes.

She and Puck needed a cover story, and it would help if it was the same one. She texted him to ask him to meet her for coffee -- and to leave the guests behind.

For now, she'd sit at a table by the window, staring into the street and contemplating whether running away was any kind of an option.

Roy was behind his desk at Cabot & Associates on Saturday, trying not to be bored to sleep by the pages of legal jargon, and succeeding really only through pure will. After his morning run and finding out about the hands in the common room, Roy changed into something a little more respectable and went in to work at the legal office, where he spent much of the day wondering if he could convince the hands to help him file.

It would be great if they could do data entry.

At work on Saturday, Roy was looking up the relevant legal documentation for that case involving the massive emerald from Ms. Devereaux's workshop. It never hurt to learn more, after all, even if the workshop was over.

That was still a lot of emerald.

At Cabot and Associates, Roy could be found slogging his way through legal research. Occasionally he would come across something interesting, which brightened his day, but sometimes it was hard to tell whether something was interesting or nto through the legalese. Such was life at a law office.

Roy didn't seem to have any..."guests," which was probably for the best, given his boatloads of issues, but it still hurt. Of course, having said guests appear would've hurt too, so it was lose/lose, he figured.

The only solution was to stare at legal briefs until his brain went numb.

"Ice cream is a wonderful treat. Dairy is good for you! And there's plenty of calcium! As long as you don't eat too much, of course!"

"Get candy! And sprinkles. Lots of syrup, chocolate and butterscotch! Ah! And have them mix in some cookie pieces and those bits of cake. In a waffle cone. No! A chocolate dipped waffle cone!"

Momoko rolled her eyes as she held open the door to the Chilly Boulder. "Look! It's nice that you two can finally agree on something," she looked in turn at the frilly-dressed mini-Momoko perched on one shoulder and the mini leather-clad yakuza Momoko crouched on the other. "But please stop yelling in my ears! You've been doing that all day!"

"Are you sure you can't see or hear them? Either one? They are totally loud and annoying." She looked over at Dinah, shaking her head, but grinning. Even a whole day of listening to the two mini-Momokos telling her what to do all day, giving her advice, and arguing about things that she was glad no one else could hear, wasn't annoying enough to prevent her from enjoying an evening of ice cream and fun with her friends.

After plotting and planning, all their wicked ideas were about to come to fruition. A long stretch of beach had been roped off, and white party lights and tiki torches provided the illumination for Sookie's birthday party. Orchids and other exotic flowers covered the tables, and each girl was presented with a lei or flower crown upon arrival. A pair of very attractive NPC bartenders were staffing the two open bars, and at the birthday girl's private table, there was a cake.

This is what happened when people left planning up to Emma, Karla, and poor, wide-eyed Bobby.

At least Bobby hadn't been expected to handle things like flowers or decorations. He was thankful for that. Food, though. Food was easy. There was a wide selection of moddable dishes from just about every establishment on the island. Okay, so he'd gone a little overboard. And maybe off-theme since some of the dishes were decidedly non-Tiki-Party-ish, but his heart was in the right place.

The dress code that had been written on the invitations was being enforced; swimsuits, or dress-casual summer wear, and everyone had to take a turn acting as Cabana Boy (or Girl) to the Guest of Honor.

Of course, Bobby was on hand to make sure that nobody took too long of a turn, because, hey. Girlfriend. His prerogative. Something like that.

Though if people wanted to play Cabana Boy/Girl for other party goers, it's doubtful anyone would complain.

After spending Friday trapped in his cubicle by trunks labeled things like 'DADDY ISSUES,' 'ABANDONMENT ISSUES,' 'LOW SENSE OF SELF-WORTH,' 'SUBSTITUTES SEX FOR EMOTIONAL INTIMACY,' 'BELIEVES SELF TO BE A LOW-RENT VERSION OF HIS BEST FRIEND (AND IS NOT EXACTLY WRONG)' and, of course, the giant one with 'HEROIN' on it in enormous font, Roy was kind of relieved to get out of there on Saturday for work at the law office. Legal research was nicely brain-numbing right now.

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

[OOC: Weather modded with permission. The Prom is open to juniors, seniors, and their dates and definitely open to slowplay. Another post will be going up later this evening set for 10pm-midnight. Prom voting is open until 4pm EDST Please to be waiting for the OCD IS UP! (No thanks to LJ)]

Roy had had enough experience at the law office by now to know that he was never really going to be cut out for office work, but for now, it kept him in pizza and bowstrings, so by God he was giving it his all.

In between checking his e-mail and playing Solitaire, anyway, but he was pretty sure that was normal.

This ship clearly was more spacious on the inside than the outside had indicated.

Rose DeWitt Bukater, however, was more disturbed about the fact that the servants had apparently mixed up her luggage with the clothes of someone who couldn't decide if he was a man or a prostitute.  The clothes that were in the closet of her stateroom!  Rose considered herself an open-minded and forward-thinking lady, but she was still a lady, thank you very much.

Dressing had taken longer than she'd expected, and without a maid, it was harder to put her hair up than she'd expected.  She may not have been dressed at the height of fashion, but she was not going to be ashamed in the costume either.

The bar seemed to be the most active establishment on the ship, but Rose couldn't quite allow herself to go into it on her own let alone order a drink, so she found herself in a seat at the tea shop with a cup of a tea and plate of cookies in front of her.  Less attention was being paid to the tea than to the window onto the passage and all the people passing by.

After a week off and a certain amount of...excitement, Roy was glad to be getting back to work. It felt normal, and not in the way that was likely to get him shot or cut up any more, since that was his usual kind of 'normal.' Legal research was kind of boring soothing.

No, he didn't know anything was wrong, yet. Give him time.

Roy was hard at work at Cabot & Associates, for a certain value of 'hard at work' that involved Wikipedia. It was Spring Break already, sort of. He couldn't be blamed too much.

Roy's wardrobe had gone through several culls in the last few months, but he'd managed to dig up a button-down shirt to wear to his new job, since he was pretty sure that was the kind of thing you were supposed to wear when you worked in a law office. There was no tie despite the icon, though. He hated ties and no longer owned any, besides.

He wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to do, so after inspecting the plants and watering the ones that needed watering, he was just sort of poking through the papers on the desk and the contents of the drawers and trying not to look too new and out of place.

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.
