So maybe America's Next Top Model had lost something over the years. That intangible quality that made it so much fun as it tumbled into a formulaic cesspool of Tyra Banks' ego.

But that didn't mean it wasn't still fun to watch and mock. Mostly mock.

So, Deadpool took full advantage of the community center that he'd actually forgot existed and set up a viewing of the show. Oh yeah, this was just what he needed. Socialization forced upon people with the lure of bitchy, bitchy models.

"Ooo, this one has a catfight," he informed a slightly bored Jan as she colored what appeared to be a rainbow with a very crude drawing of the dog back at Wellspring Arms. "Not that it's very different from normal, I know."

Henry had almost managed a peaceful Christmas break -- he'd avoided his yearly visit to his mother's fatal crash, for one -- and then gotten sent sideways in time late Christmas afternoon, right as he tried to assemble a doll house for Alba.

Clare would finish it. She generally did, these days.

Figuring out where and when he was after his trip didn't take much time at all. The problem was figuring out what to do without a key to his very-locked apartment, since he was almost certain picking it one more time was going to damage it in a way he didn't feel like paying for. Deciding it was too early to go banging on his landlady's door wrapped in the very short mint green robe he'd stolen off somebody's porch in search of a key, Henry went to the Perk. They'd seen his odd arrivals in time often enough that they barely blinked at his attire as he ordered and promised to pay later.

He idly wondered how long this trip to the near future would last as he thumbed through a newspaper. He felt pretty good, if that made a difference.

For a longish jaunt to the past, this one hadn't gone too badly. It had been nice enough weather that Henry had been able to spend it camping in the meadow while Clare brought him food and sulked about the utter unfairness of French tutoring in the summer.

Still, it was good to be home. (And to be able to turn off that running water.) Once Henry got himself dressed and ready for work, he paused at a coffee shop on the way to the library. There was a certain luxurious heaviness to the fall air that made him want to linger in the out-of-doors. He thumbed through his book, deliberately taking his time with his coffee.

He'd get to work ... sometime.

Cindy had taken care to dress nicely for her office hours, since she had planned to head directly to the restaurant after she closed up her office. "Table for two," she told the hostess on duty. "I made a reservation for Perrault?"

Hardly necessary, to be sure, but after the last dinner debacle when she couldn't get food from a restaurant for love nor money, Cindy wasn't taking any chances. She was more than gracious when the hostess excused herself to make sure the table was ready. If it wasn't, Cindy didn't want to know.

Comparing this dinner to any of the meals shared with Crane was almost a reflex, but Cindy shoved those thoughts out of her head completely. The last thing she wanted was to ruin what was sure to be a lovely evening with thoughts of Paris.

A moment later, the hostess returned, all smiles, saying the table was ready. Fabulous!

[Cindy is here on her date, but the restaurant is public and open.]

Work.

Robin was at work.

If you had asked Robin where she would like to be the week after she was married, she would have said any number of exotic locations -- beaches, cities, various locations involving people serving her drinks.

This was not one of those places she would have chosen, no. So the bartender tonight was not exactly thrilled to be there, no.

After having Wyatt orb her to the island in the morning, Isabel had had an enjoyable if entirely handwavey lunch with Anders. She should have had Wyatt come back to get her after lunch, but the feeling of needing to be in Fandom had been too strong.

After spending the afternoon sitting on the beach, Isabel had gone for coffee and to wait for Wyatt to meet her. The feeling of waiting for something hadn't faded and she wondered if it would be possible to convince Wyatt to get a room at the hotel for the night.

[For one or two specifically, but open before they turn up.]

Jaina had made the mistake of listening to radio this morning, and so she wasn't in the best of moods when she got in to work today. She was trying not to take it out on Tino, but as he was staying as far away from her as he could, she didn't really have the chance. Mostly she was just decidedly not thinking about it, and moreso not talking about it.

And when she had some down time, she was trying to arrange a good time to go home for a visit. She just needed to get away for a little while.

Didi had to open the store because Apu was out of town (something about his octuplets -- she lost track, and Apu just looked harried when she asked about them). As she approached the store, she was surprised to see a tall man clad in a kind of toga made from a stained beach towel prying at the door. He cursed at the lock under his breath, but worked away at it with certain fingers.

She watched him until he got the lock open, then spoke up from the shadows. "You could've just waited for me to unlock the store, y'know."

Henry turned to look at her with wide eyes verging on panic. He'd spent the last day in 1983, had gotten into a fight, and was generally not at his best. He didn't want to deal with the police today. He licked his lips and said, "I like a challenge."

"I can see that," Didi nodded slowly, not seeming especially bothered by all of this, and went past him to open the shop door. "Come on in, claim some clothes..." She paused midsentence, recognizing the man. "Oh. You're Jono's boss at the library."

Henry could have really dealt without knowing this girl knew who he was, but he was game. "Ah, yes. Yes I am. May we continue this conversation after I'm dressed?"

The human insistence on modesty was still a little weird, but Didi shrugged her assent and watched the librarian stride purposefully, if bare-footed, into the racks of shirts. She wondered why the naked people always showed up during her shift.

Henry had, as promised, brought an ostentatiously thick book to read while he waited for Cindy.

War & Peace really gained something the third time through, anyhow. He sat near a window, stealing sips of latter and glances out the window as he waited for his ... was this a date? It felt like one, anyhow.

He supposed that was a question for Cindy to answer.

Now was the winter of their discontent... The last night of Richard III was starting very soon. Still no sign of their errant Director, but Tony seemed to have everything well in hand. Sophie had counted up receipts from Tuesday, and they were doing quite well. The students had certainly given it their all on Tuesday night.

And Geoffrey may have cast them, encouraged them, and directed them, but everyone in the theater tonight had their own reasons for wanting this last evening of the play to go well.

"Thirty minutes, everyone. Our Stage Manager says places in thirty."

So, Deadpool had been planning this with that Henry guy before, but today seemed like the perfect way to let kids run around and tire themselves out so they could fall asleep and parents could cry about their loss of freedom and then drink themselves to sleep before the kids woke up and wanted sugar.

...or something.

Henry felt a tiny stab of jealousy that everybody else got to see their imaginary kids, and he didn't get to see Alba.

On the other hand, with the way some of these kids behaved, maybe he'd gotten the better end of the deal. "So," he began. "We are going to play softball. This is red team, that's blue team."

"Red team's the best," Deadpool added. "I'm just sayin'."

"... we permit him his delusions," Henry nodded to the blue team, since they seemed to be his. "If you just want to play catch, go for it. We're here."

Adrian was a little late today. Not too bad, but later than usual.

Tino glared at him when he finally showed, and Adrian replied, "Daylight Savings Time," only with more cursing, and apparently that was enough to be forgiven today.

It was, perhaps, unfortunate that Mark Antony had located Henry's liquor stash early Sunday.

It might have been considered more unfortunate yet that it was after he'd consumed a significant amount of it that his eyes fell on the sword the hairy blue fellow at the bar had given him the night before.

He hadn't practiced with it yet. He had to, if it was his weapon -- not only was it just good common sense, but he needed to get in some drills if he was going to stay sharp.

... and he wanted to show off. Fresh air would do him good, anyhow.

Which was how he ended up in the park, practicing fancy sword drills and singing bawdy Roman songs at the top of his lungs. He might just enlighten the entire town as to Gallic sexual and hygienic practices at this rate.

Jaina was not quite herself today, so she would not be opening up the bar. On Monday she was going to have withdrawals from having gone this long without showing up to work.

Tino, however, was completely himself today, and he was looking oh so pleased about having to be here on a day everyone had gone insane again.

...Maybe he'd get a hookup from someone who didn't know any better. That made him feel better.

What Angua was doing at the station on a Saturday morning was a very good question; if anyone knew the answer, she'd appreciate it greatly if they'd share it. Because she certainly didn't know.

She did know that she was feeling a little restless and a little bored, and maybe some part of her brain had the ridiculous notion that if she came in for just a few hours in the morning, she could make enough of a dent in her paperwork that, on Monday, it wouldn't seem like such a heavy load. A very small part of her brain. One most likely delusional.

Especially since when she came in, it was not to her desk that she went first, but to the coffee maker.

It did seem rather quieter here on a Saturday morning, she'd give it that.

[[ expecting, natch, a particular encounter, but station is SOOOOOO so so very open. So much. And, if Angua's met you and you're different, but you don't mind her being able to still tell who you are by scent, please let me know! ]]

Today was a 'loud music' day at Groovy Tunes for Jonothon, yes.

It was also a 'go around and attempt to board off any possible gremlin entry points' day at Groovy Tunes for Jonothon.

And if anybody asks him about the bloody holes in his trouser leg, they will have earned themselves a very, very dirty look, indeed.

His guitar was here, of course, but that was for passing the time once he figured he was safe from little biting green plonkers running about.

Henry had already burned off some of his morning energy on the run from his apartment to the hotel to meet Cindy, and he slowed his pace as he came up to the building to watch for her. He hadn't gotten out much during the snow; the inactivity had almost killed him.

It had been a quiet week. A good one, even, if you didn't count the incipient cold he was bravely ignoring. He liked his job, he knew a few people, and he had books and a place to run. Even if Clare wasn't there, things were treating him well.

[OOC: For Cinderella, but he's there if you wanna bug the guy jogging in place in 30 degree weather.]

Deadpool was pretty sure he was gonna need to be wasted by the end of the night, but for now he was having enough fun with the cheap and not too great tasting beer. Look, it was the first day of trying to start a bowling league. Of course he was gonna get hammered.

There were plenty of those disease filled rental shoes for people and even some fancy sparkly balls.

Heh. Balls.

Oh yeah, it was gonna be a interesting night no matter what.

It had been several years since Henry had dinner alone with a woman who wasn't Clare or Alba, so just the fact he was meeting Cindy for sushi was new and a bit strange. He knew this wasn't a date -- more a collegial dinner with someone else still trying to understand the town -- but he'd still fallen into old habits getting ready for it.

Which meant Henry waited at the hostess stand a bit early. He wore a suit and polished shoes, carried a small bouquet of wildflowers in one hand ... and a sheaf of baby pictures tucked into an inner breast pocket.

It was possible old habits would never be exactly the same.

[OOC: For Ms. Perrault, but otherwise open for your sushi needs.]

Mina was behind the desk in the lobby again, ready to attend to any tenants or potential tenants.

Or anyone, really.

She was debating about putting up a suggestion box, for events that could be held to encourage mingling between the residents. It seemed like a good idea, encouraging a community bond. Just in case they needed to unite against a common foe or something similar.

However, that would require getting up and getting a box.

Right now, Mina was too busy playing on Facebook. Somewhere, Allan Quatermaine was shaking his head in disappointment, and he didn't know why.

Chuck came into work after spending time at the picnic, laptop in hand. Just because he had a bigger business to attend to now, it didn't mean he was going to ignore the ones he already had. He'd just have to multitask and, well, anybody who has ever slept with him could attest that he was excellent at that.
