The Boards - Richard III, CLOSING NIGHT - Thursday evening

Now was the winter of their discontent... The last night of Richard III was starting very soon. Still no sign of their errant Director, but Tony seemed to have everything well in hand. Sophie had counted up receipts from Tuesday, and they were doing quite well. The students had certainly given it their all on Tuesday night.

And Geoffrey may have cast them, encouraged them, and directed them, but everyone in the theater tonight had their own reasons for wanting this last evening of the play to go well.

"Thirty minutes, everyone. Our Stage Manager says places in thirty."

Karla was feeling much better about today's performance than she had about Tuesday's. She was practicing the kind of drooping walk she'd come up with, after the Duchess's confrontation with Richard. She wanted to get it right.

Dinah was there feeling a mix of glee and wistfulness. She didn't think she'd be in Fandom for the whole summer, so... Yeah, trying not to think those exact words yet.

Part of Priestly felt he should go all out for the last show's backstage treats. Another part realized he could hold off till the cast party.

Eh. Either way. He had a small plate of sandwiches, well away from the costumes. Just don't mess up your make-up.

Sam was much less nervous today than he'd been on Tuesday, although his nerves had been replaced with thoughts about how this might be the last time he was ever on stage. Stupid graduation.

Well, Angua thought to herself as she settled into a seat in the theatre with a sigh, it wasn't a musuem or anything, but it was cultural. She didn't know the play and she was pretty sure she didn't know anyone in it, because it wasn't about that, was it? She was just being cultural.

Carrot better appreciate it, even if he didn't know anything about it. And she just hoped she could manage staying awake without him there to kindly nudge her in the ribs every so often.

Henry, unfortunately, ended up near the cranky old guys. Richard III wasn't his favorite Shakespeare, but Sam worked for him so it was good to see the play, and better yet to get out of his apartment for a while.

As promised, Jonas was indeed there to see the performance Karla had told him about. He'd brought Beka (who was still a dog) with him and she was laying quietly on his lap.

Alex made no promises about falling asleep but Emma and Jack were in this play so he thought stopping by and teasing them would be a fun way to spend some time. So, he was there, propped up in a chair, waiting for things to start.

Even though she'd not participated in any way for this play, Hinata had known from the start that she wasn't going to miss it.

She took a seat and idly reviewed what the play was about while she waited for it to start.

George wasn't going to miss the play with Karla in it. He also wasn't too sure what it was about, but he was there anyway, ready to watch.

Normally, plays weren't really Sookie's thing -- crowds, really, were not her scene. But if she could handle prom, she could handle going to see her friends act, particularly since she'd been asked.

So she found herself a seat where she could see well enough, actually kind of excited.

Yay! Scene Four, Act Four again. Karla far preferred raging to hand-ringing. It was an interesting blend of despair and grief, held only slightly in check clinging to her upbringing and the ghosts of the past.

Blind sight, dead life, poor mortal living ghost,
Woe's scene, world's shame, grave's due by life usurp'd,
Brief abstract and record of tedious days,
Rest thy unrest on England's lawful earth,

She sat, making room for Emma as Queen Elizabeth.

Unlawfully made drunk with innocents' blood!
