The Boards - Richard III, CLOSING NIGHT - Thursday evening

Now was the winter of their discontent... The last night of Richard III was starting very soon. Still no sign of their errant Director, but Tony seemed to have everything well in hand. Sophie had counted up receipts from Tuesday, and they were doing quite well. The students had certainly given it their all on Tuesday night.

And Geoffrey may have cast them, encouraged them, and directed them, but everyone in the theater tonight had their own reasons for wanting this last evening of the play to go well.

"Thirty minutes, everyone. Our Stage Manager says places in thirty."

[OCD on its way up!]

"My smiling face isn't incentive enough?" he wondered, tucking his hands into his pockets and relaxing a bit. "I came to your fucking play."

"Don't be crude; there was very little fucking in the play," Emma pointed out, making a face even as she handed over the cigarette.

"Being crude is a hallmark of mine, Emma," he said, taking the cigarette and giving it a few puffs. He did think a few complimentary thoughts her way, not really able to say them out loud but he had watched and he could tell her in other ways that she'd done well.

"Aren't you used to me by now?" he teased, giving the cigarette back to her. "Or do we still have to work on this come summer?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," she sang, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I'm perfect, darling, I don't need to 'work on' anything."

"Nobody's perfect, darling," Alex replied, shaking his head. "You're pretty damn close, I might give you that, but the imperfections make you sexier, you know."
icecoldfrost: (Emma is thinking)

"If you say so," she replied dubiously. "But you're a strange and contrary boy, so you would like me for my flaws, wouldn't you?"

"Why would I wanna be like everyone else when I can be contrary?" Alex wondered, grinning. "You sticking around this summer? Gonna keep me company sometimes?"
icecoldfrost: (I have a hat)

"Well, I was thinking of jetting off to Mexico, but if you're going to be around to amuse me..." she drawled, pretending to think about it. "I might have to sign up for summer classes."

"Well, I won't be around for a few days next week but then I plan on being around all summer, enjoying the sun and the drinks and anything else bad for me that I can get my hands one," he said, shrugging.

"What's a man without his vices?" he added. "Pretty damn boring."

"I might scamper off to New York on the weekends, but other than that I'll be around," she answered. "What sort of misadventures are you getting up to next week?"

"I've gotta take care of a few things back home," he answered, a little quieter than before. "Taking Effy with me, though, so maybe I won't go completely fucking insane."

"I'll make sure to leave my phone on my nightstand, in case the two of you somehow end up in Nebraska or Oklahoma or one of those other states I'm not sure exists, trying to outrun some hicks you swindled at the bar," she said lightly, offering him the cigarette again.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"You'd come bail us out?" he asked, amused. "Besides, we wouldn't swindle anyone. I'd be the one trying to break someone's nose and she'd probably set something on fire. It's a very complementary thing we have here."
icecoldfrost: (cold-blooded girl)

Re: Outside the Theater

[personal profile] icecoldfrost 2010-04-22 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma rolled her eyes. "Fine, then I'll wire you money to pay off the very large angry man whose bar you burned down. But if you two end up in jail, I'm not bailing you out. I'll come down to point and laugh."

Alex grinned at her and took a few more drags off the offered cigarette. "Why so cranky, Emma? I thought you liked me and my shortcomings."
icecoldfrost: (nothing but trouble)

"I do, but I also like getting a chance to mock you mercilessly," she agreed. "Call it a shortcoming of mine."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's devastating to hear, Emma," he said, holding his heart. "Ouch. Hopefully I avoid getting arrested this time. That happened last time and I hate sleeping in jail cells."
icecoldfrost: (impish)

"I'm starting to think you're allergic to good behaviour," Emma laughed, trying to steal back her cigarettes. "You enjoy being the bad boy too much."

Re: Outside the Theater

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Alex didn't try to stop her from stealing because neither of them needed any cigarette burns tonight. "Would I be half as hot if I was some goody two shoes with his nose buried in a book?"
icecoldfrost: (reading)

Re: Outside the Theater

[personal profile] icecoldfrost 2010-04-22 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like books," Emma pointed out. "Reading can be fun."

Re: Outside the Theater

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you say so," Alex said, shrugging. "I can read too but I just prefer to send my time participating in more interactive activities."
icecoldfrost: (diiiiirty)

Re: Outside the Theater

[personal profile] icecoldfrost 2010-04-22 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Diiiirty," she sang, laughing. "And don't pretend you meant that any other way."

Re: Outside the Theater

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"I totally meant it the dirty way," he agreed, grinning smugly. "Why would I pretend otherwise? Come on, it's me."
icecoldfrost: (Emma is a bit of a tease...)

Re: Outside the Theater

[personal profile] icecoldfrost 2010-04-22 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"You shouldn't say such suggestive things to me, darling," she scolded lightly, reaching over to bop him on the nose. "I'm being a Good Girl, remember?"

"Control, Emma, control," Alex said, swatting lightly at her hand and shaking his head. "I'm not being purposefully tempting. I'm just flirting with you."
